I do believe with a part time 4 wheel drive system there is not a center diff. Or where you swapping in the diff from the rx into the gl? -=fred=-

I just installed a new mechanical water temperature gauge in my 87 gl wagon. What is the normal operating temperature for my car? Thanks! -=fred=-

I have had good luck with Seafoam, but I think Marvel Mystery Oil is cheaper. When I first bought my GL no TOD, but then after my first oil change the TOD started. I used seafoam and 100 miles later I changed my oil again. The TOD stopped. It came back for a little while, more seafoam and another oil change and it has not came back as bad. But my GL still sews me a quilt ever now and then. So I will keep after it. -=fred=-

If it is a high quality scan you might be able to run some OCR software on it and get a text file. But if it is anything like the scans I have seen of the FSM then it will not work. -=fred=-

I found me a parts car with a 5 sp dual range tranie for $100. But know I have to deal with a non working car in my yard. Oh well. It still should save me some money as opposed to going to a junk yard ever time I need something. -=fred=-

I had a problem recently with my 87 gl, the fuel pump relay went bad. I would also verify that the fuel pump is getting power and pumping. It was an easy test. My fuel pump was on the passenger side under the car right by the back door. There is a plate it rides on that is held in place with 4 10mm bolts. You can access this easily and put a test light on the leads to see if your pump is getting power. Then you can listen or feel if the fuel pump is really pumping. Hope you get it running. That sounds like a sweet score! -=fred=-

Do they look like a plastic box? I have seen a black plastic box behind and to the left of my fuse box. I have also seen one in the center console right next to the radio. -=fred=-

Well I decided to put some silicone until I can get some clear epoxy. They look alot better then the old ones. They were all rusted out and now I have shiny new lights! Thanks for the advise! -=fred=-

I have some headlights that I pulled off a junker. They are in better condition then the ones off of my car, 87 gl wagon. But, one of them has a hole in the glass. I was wondering if I can safely pull the little brass colored clips off of the side and patch that hole with a little silicone. Will it hurt the glass to pull it off? -=fred=-

I have a lot of "relay" problems with my Subaru. My rear defrost doesn't work, my blower motor doesnt work and my 3rd brake light doesnt work. I have no idea where these relays are, or what they look like. I have looked under my dash several times and have not been able to identify them. Dose any one know where the relay pack is? Are all the relays in one location? or are they in a few locations. I would love to have all the above mentioned things working and it sounds like it may be a problem with my Subaru. Any trouble shooting help / pics / locations would really help. -=fred=-

Done! I got power back to my fuel pump and she is running like a top. I traced the line for power back to the dash and right by the fuse box. From there I could not find a break in the line, but I knew I did not have power so. . . I hooked up a new power line and she is good to go! Thanks for all the help from USMB members! -=fred=-

Well my good friend and I took a look at my wagon in the light. The timing belts are good. The rotor moves around. We then sprayed some wd-40 down the distys to see if there was some water in there, and she fired right up. I let it idle for awhile and then jumped in her to drive back to work. No even out of my driveway she died again . So we went and got a can of starter fluid and sprayed it down the carb. She would run on started fluid, so . . . We got back to the fuel pump and pulled the hose going to the carb off and turned her on. No fuel. A test light showed that the fuel pump was not getting power. Looks like I have a fun project for the week end. -=fred=-

Well, I checked the timing belts and they are still there. (open covers) I pulled my disty cap off and the rotor looked OK (in the dark). I don't remember there being a screw when I put a new rotor in, I guess it could have fallen out before. I will take another look at it in the light. -=fred=-

I was driving my 87 gl wagon when all of a sudden it sputtered and died. It felt like it was out of gas. I got a tow home and now she is resting in my driveway. When I try and start her she will try, but it is like there is no gas. I know there is gas in the tank I just filled up today. I checked the fuses and the only one blown was the one marked door lock, which is odd because I do not have power locks. Any ideas? Thanks for the help! -=fred=-

Take a look at your vacuum lines. I had a lose one and it cause my car to die at stop signs, etc. You can use carb cleaner to spray on your lines and see if there are leaks. I am not sure where the idle screw is. -=fred=-
