Woah I got a weird one. After a bit of a vacation in Texas I got back in my sedan and all sorts of stuff seemed wacky. I got a few things Ironed out which I will have more time to talk about some other time but I need to get this reverse rpm thing nailed first. I have an 83 standard 5spd 2wd sedan. I will be going along and I will feel a small jolt in my forward movement (feeling opposite to my direction of travel) my tach will ROCKET to zero, something also seems to be going on in the electricity department cause the dash does something odd? I dont remember off hand exactly what I will keep a closer eye on it. Anyways It will rocket to zero, I just leave it in gear and keep my foot where it is and it plays with me. Bouncing back to life and rocketing to zero. Does this ring anybells? the car can die while doing this. It doesnt seem terribly violent except for the tachometer needle. It had never been more than a problem of a few hiccoughs on the road until recently now sometimes the car wont "bounce" back out of the dead tach funny running state. Sometimes it wont start after this. But usually after a bit it will! I have no idea. Why would this self correct? Any question will be tolerated and any help would be worshiped! I need to drive to san fran for my sisters wedding soon. Thanks Folks. Joshua

Nah this isnt off topic. Its a performance boost for carbed Soobs. I am going to check at my local colleges and see if anyone has a "water welder" or a way to make this thing. i am thinking of ordering the book. He says its not patented so if I order it i will scan it in and hand it off to all who want it. Joshua -

When I was young I remember liking to watch a show on discovery called "Beyond 2000!" (Anyone else?) Well among the private hovercraft and other bad rump roast eye popping mind numbing stuff they had a segment on this guy who ran his lawn mower with gas and water. We all know thats a bad mix. He didnt mix them. He ran electricity through the water seperated into its basic elements and piped (either both or just one damn if I can remember right now) into the air intake to be mixed with the normal air. So without increasing the compression of his air or decreasing its temperature (thus increasing its pressure) he was able to make a more flamable gas (oxygen being one of the main flamable gases in our "air" and available in a suprisingly small percentage per volume) Well needless to say it did all sorts of bad a** S*** it was later concluded that it added horspower, gas mileage, and because the over all front of fire moved faster that it actually reached a lower temp because the fire was present for less time (Dont know if that makes sense at this moment) at least thats what they attributed the notable drop in harmful exhaust gases to. They deduced noting which gas combinations did not form and found that heat was the missing element of the transformation process for these gases. Well. That being said. I am sorry I was so vague when posting that web site. I think my question had more to do with Brown's gas and his carb stuff than anything. (the chip is redundant many of our cars have the 02 sensor) Anywhoo... Has anyone played with browns gas? Seperating water? Piping gases into carbs? Keep talking I know there are some wacky geniuses out there! PS for you folks that cant bear to be concious about our position in the world and our direct effects upon it.... More Power! Less Gas money! Joshua -

High Oil Pressure in an EA81??
Geck512 replied to Hocrest's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Is that your pressure when warming up? How about when warm (operating temp)? I get 75 on my ea81 in the morning and 25 when I am running right. (warm) Joshua -

My chevy mechanic friend says that I might be running into trouble with my disc brake swap. I got the rear disks from an 86 turbo 2 door? Sedan? two wheel drive. I am going to be putting them into my 83 gl 2 wheel drive. Does the Master cylinder have a different outlet for the rear discs and the rear drums? Will the flow be enough? Too much? I dont really understand the problems that could arise but he felt that it might be trouble installing them. But then again he told me not to buy the car! So anyways I know lots of you folks have done swaps and it works well. But this is an ea82 rear disc going into an ea81 car. I practiced the swap in the boneyard and it looked like it would work (plumbing is a little off and I did grab the hard hose from the original disc-having car) I think I might have to drill a hole through the a arm? the suspension swinging thing =P to get the line from the caliper to the hose running up the car. Or I need to bend it but I dont want to do that I dont think. ::shrug:: Advice beyond the directions already in the subaru manual on the board? Thanks Joshua -
Lemon checking on possible new2me soob!
Geck512 posted a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Well I tried a search on this and didnt get finite enough answers. I am considering buying an 87 4wd Wagon. Turbo. What should I ask about? What should I look for? Things I can think of. Oil in the radiator, water in the oil, major corrosion (white stuff) at the connection of turbo and exhaust manifold?, oil leaks, (supposedly the powersteering is leaking fluid but he thinks its the cap?), cv joints, straight body, straight frame, good interior, (it has a sunroof) leaky sunroof, working dash components, rust free, What else? Thanks folks I know your ideas will be great! -
Geeze you guys are tons sharper than I. I was ready to tout the new find to all you folk. BLah! live and learn Joshua
