  1. Here is a picture of an ff1 sports, does anyone know of it or can they track down the sponsor, Clarks of Southland. Driver;s name is Robbie Cheers Thierry
  2. If you are going the single radiator route you going to make a cowl from your blower fan to the radiator so you still have heating on the cooler days Cheers Thierry
  3. what happen to the original rad support panel cheers Thierry
  4. If no luck with the lock tabs, try loctite or if you are patiant make a set Cheers Thierry
  5. from memory isnt that where the original horn mounts Cheers Thierry
  6. Looking as to where the coil and pump is situated you not carring the spare under the bonnet Thierry
  7. Kosta, i doubt that the fuel cap actually seals the tank 100% so run the system as you said but check to see if the fuel pump shuts down when it gets to pressure, but if the carb has an overflow pipe, route that back to the inlet side of the filter Cheers Thierry
  8. Ok i feel there was a ball in there and the spring would of pushed the ball against the side to seal off and when the motor is running there would be slight vacum to vent the cannisters so the fumes heads to the carby and into the engine. Todays cars that hose would go to the charcol cannister then into the induction system Cheers Thierry
  9. Those little cannisters basically seperate any fuel out of the vapours and returns the fuel back to the tank and vent the air to that fitting in the filler cap. As for the return line i wouldnt bother just plum any excess fuel to the inlet side of the filter before the pump, and as for the pump get one that will lift the fuel from the tank. The original pump only suplied the fuel needed when it built up the pressure it stopped so no return was needed, pumps that run all the time need a return line. I have the same pump fitted to my lotus 7 to supply fuel to the surge tank, it runs all the time so return excess fuel to the inlet side of the filer, there are filter which have 2 inlet and one outlet, try one of those Cheers Thierry
  10. The best i have seen is 115mph, 74 gsr with a 1600 motor, pulling about 7500rpm in 4th. No that wasnt on a race track, heading home from work 2 up in the car Cheers Thierry
  11. As Kosta's photo shows the brakes are unique to the ff1 and only fitted to the sports model and i think there was a 4 door luxury sports that came out. As i said in the earlier post about making a set, 1st a alloy hat with a internal spline to fit on the shaft out of the gearbox, a 11-12inch disc vented to fit on the hat, then a backing plate that uses the 4 bolts on the gearbox that has a pair of 4 spot calipers Food for though Cheers Thierry
  12. I know of two sets one is still fitted to the car and the second is in the boot of a spare car, but trying to get a set is the holy grail. But if there was a bit of money a system can be made, even better than factory Cheers Thierry
  13. That gearbox would look great with a set disc hanging off them Cheers Thierry
  14. looking at the 1400 rx i just realised i saw one about 30 years ago when i bought my second ff1, guy had a ex works rally car i noticed the rear disc brakes and 5 speed Cheers Thierry
  15. Kosta, have you solved your bumper delema, i was thinking of a rubber bumper that goes around the ends of the car, i am trying to think of a specific model of car but a ford commercial comes to mind could be others Cheers Thierry
  16. oopps disregard last message, last pic loaded while i type the last message
  17. Kosta be sure you fit the filler pipe to the tank before the rear end is finally fitted, been there done that pain in the bum to fit afterwards Cheers Thierry
  18. Leeroy, actually the subby was second choice for my brother, he was looking at a renault, mind you he is the same brother who has all the ff1's, picture of them somewhere in the forum. Cheers Thierry
  19. hi just wandering where in melborne are you, i am near bendigo but usually i am in melb at least once a month

    Cheers Thierry

  20. The fastest i seen on my gsr with that motor was 115mph, i ended up selling the car. the guy cleaned the carbs and saw 118mph, as for economy i was getting high 30's mpg average and that was with the gsr twin carbs with standard jetting
  21. I have never used the tool when i have pulled a motor apart, the first motor i was lucky as in after i pulled the heads off i turned the motor over and all liners popped out, second motor the were a bit tighter, i split the block and through the gap i removed the bigend caps one at a time, romoved the piston conrod out then pressed the liners out from the inside. because the liners can come out so easily you should never turn the motor over with the heads off unless a full rebuild is needed. Cheers Thierry
  22. I have succesfully fitted 1400 heads to a 1600, you need to weld up the outside of the head and remachine the water jacket. overlay the headgasket on the head and you will see where, as for the headstuds i had no problems they lined up ok. Dimension the manifold will fit ok, and use the 1400 cam. Cheers Thierry
  23. if interested you can negotiate for under $500 the car is at stawell, saw a pic of it at the ballarat swap meet, he wanted $500 would take $400 but i offered $300 and he refused cheers Thierry
  24. Just an update, i came across a 76 gf hardtop yesterdy saterday for sale, going to call the guy up tomorrow sunday and mst probably if all is ok pick it up early next week, but if i dont would anyone else be interested, the car is in victoria Cheers Thierry
