  1. The header pipes from the 1300 are joint diagonally ie; 1-4, and 2- 3 similar as fig 4 then joint the muffler as in figure 2 but one outlet. Thierry
  2. Surprise surprise the car did it easily, 1100cc motor but performance better than the mazda 1500 of the same time. Thierry
  3. Don't worry the 1100 goes very good, had one of those to in the sport as well as standard sedan, the sedan would sit on over 70 easily and my dad's car would fit the family of 5 and still tow the caravan to the beach over a 1 hr drive then, i am going to see if i can post that picture here, i have on file, if it doesnt appear that means i don't know how to post. Thierry
  4. My 1300g sports i had, i retro fitted a 1400 GSR motor and used to sit on 80mph all day long and average close to 40mpg at that speed and was good for over 100mph. The only reason i swaped motor was the original was low on oil pressure, but the 1300 was nearly as good. I had a modified 1600 with early 1400 heads and and cam with dual carbs in a 73 coupe body and i stopped excelerating at 118mph. What more do you need in HP. Thierry
  5. I like the FF1 sport, shame i can not see the phone number of the dealer who has the car, i am stil looking, only thing missing from the car i can see is the black trim panel that fits between the tail lights and number plate. Also it had a recent respray hope it isnt hiding to many evils. Thierry. PS you know where i can get a better res picture which show the dealer and phone number
  6. Can not use a 1600, the shifter where it ataches to the transmission is totally different. The early boxes the shifter was supported by the box but later cars they were support by the transmission tunnel. Very hard box to find the 5 speed, only came out in the GFT which had the GSR motor in the hard top. well that was down under. Thierry
  7. not the main case, just the selector housing, swap the internals, 5th gear is situated in the selector housing same as the 4wd. if you looked at the 2 boxes side by side you will see where the bearing housing in the selctor housing where it mates to the box is bigger/ longer on the 1300/ 1400, other than the mount for the brakes the webbing seem the same between the FF1 and 1400 Thierry
  8. The FF1 boxes are they 1100 or 1300, also would he have any 1400 5 speed boxes, why im asking is the 1100 and 1300 boxes are slight difference in the selector housing, it has the same housing as the 1400 so if you had a 1400 5 speed you can convert the FF1 to a 5 speed, and the 1300 will bolt straight into the 1100 or onto a 1400. bit of trivia the 4wd prototype was a FF1 1300 wagon Thierry
  9. Hey kosta, i see you found some pictures i posted a while back, they were taken in singapore by my brother whe he was there. As for the motor go back to the thread about the 1400 where i mentioned what i did to convert to fit a FF1 Thierry
  10. While i got my book open for the ea71 question i looked for the brumby, it only says that the clutch is 200m in size, no mention or 220mm
  11. Work on your motor on the bench, no need for an engine stand, if you are worried about your engine moving or rocking, sit it in a wheel sump down. As for rings the ea71 is the same bore as the ea81 at 92mm
  12. the problem is not landing in australia, it is getting out of japan. Thierry
  13. bad news, i made contact with a importer here that brings cars in from japan, he said the car has no papers and as such it can not be exported from japan. how are going to save this treasure. Thierry

  15. But of trivia if you want to know, when designing the FF1, Subaru with TKM bearing designed the CV joint that we have and know today, prior to this all front drive cars used a uni joint. Also if you ever get the chance to study the FF1, the car was not designed by car makers but by aircraft engineerers, i had my cars low flying a few time, had a guy on a motorbike followiung me once and said he say the underneath of my car as it went over a hump in the road. Just wanted to let you know
  16. The FF1 has a great front end, fully adyustable for castor and camber as well as ride high, only problem i had was finding replacement front shockers. Thierry
  17. i just replied in the other thread, the tyre size on the other car is 185/55/14 so 14's can fit just, and the wheels are einki Thierry
  18. just translated a bit, the tyre size on the FF1 is 185/55/14 with bridgestone tyres RE 55S just of interest Thierry
  19. There is very little room to play with under the rear guard, a 6 in rim might be the max size you can fit, to much offset and the tyre rim will fowl with the trailing arm, there is a little lug on the arm you can grind off to give a little more clearance, then not enough offset and hits the guard. Cheers Thierry
  20. Who is rich, not me, i have bump off the missus and claim the insurance for this. I hear they treat you well in jail, at least i can look forward to driving the FF1 when i am out. Thierry
  21. http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h47620208 http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h47620208 have a play in that site Thierry
  22. i am looking right as we speak, i am in the yahoo japan site
  23. I found one at last, now just to see how i am going to buy it get it sent down under, and try to decifer the japanese language, here is the thread if you want to look at it, http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e74177473 wish me luck and i will try to keep you post as to how it turns out Cheers Thierry
  24. I was going to build a FF1 as a track racer, basically a silowet,(i know spelling mistake), to clear the tyres i was going to box out the guards as per the zacspeed escorts in the 80's, tapered from the front to the rear and flat on the top, using the crease line where it bulgers from still keep the same profile but wider for clearance, but that was when i had 3 FF1's at my disposal, now that the cars are in the same catorgary as rocking horse poop, i feel keeping it standard would be better. From what i see from the p[icture there would be more work in moving the arches up than repairing what is there, but that is my 2 bobs worth, or is that a quarter over there Thierry
  25. Dont you dare touch the fenders, or i will fly over there and rip your arms off!!!!, i fitted a set of 13x5 inch rims from a l series subie with 175/70/13 and it clear very well, earlier rims with those tyres will fowl the fenders, but never had access to the 14inch rims off some l series so they might clear with 185/60/14 tyres Thierry
