  1. Dont you dare touch the fenders, or i will fly over there and rip your arms off!!!!, i fitted a set of 13x5 inch rims from a l series subie with 175/70/13 and it clear very well, earlier rims with those tyres will fowl the fenders, but never had access to the 14inch rims off some l series so they might clear with 185/60/14 tyres Thierry
  2. Twin brake fluid tanks i see, the aussie FF1 had only one ecept for the sports which had 2, so your model has the same master cylinder as the sport version, split brake system, now see if you can find a disc brake gearbox to put in the car, from memory the front disc was 11 inch in diameter, big for such a small car. Thierry
  3. You don't need the key to get into the trunk, lift out the back seat squab and back rest, no tools needed as they just clip in. from there you can access the latch from the inside and you will feel a little tab in the latch from there just move it over and you have the trunk open, easy. Thierry
  4. Easier to modify the manifold and it keeps the original radiator set up for the heating of the cabin, i think it took me about an hour to do the whole job, not including remove and refit of manifold Thierry
  5. To run the ea63 manifold to suit the FF1 they are the same except for the radiator hoses, i have modified one easily from memory i had to drill out and tap the temp sender to accomodate another fitting to put your radiator hose on on the ea63 manifold the drilled and taped to refitt the temp sender in another position i think in the same position as the FF1, i did this to fit a 1400gsr motor to a FF1. The spacer behind the flywheel is to clear the fly wheel from the bell housing, 1400 bell housing bolts up to the FF1 box , the 1600 has a larger flywheel as to why the need to swap over. Hope this helps Thierry
  6. Bit late in reading this thread, but hopefully i might answer the questions if they havent already the ea63 manifold will fit all 1400 as well as the ea71 the early heads will fit the later 1400 but the cam needs to be changed with the earlier one the early head can fit the 1600 but you need to build up around the water jacket and redrill the cooling holes you can fit a 1600 to a FF1 box just need to put a 1400 bellhousing and space out the 1400 flywheel 5mm how do i know, all the years of livig subaru i have done al the mods about, as in 1600ea71 with 1400 3 port heads modified and gsr dual carby manifold, had this motor in a gsr pulling about 7900rpm at 118 mph and one carby not running 100% Those were the days if you want to know more my personal email is in the FF1 thread page 6 Cheers Thierry
  7. I have owned several FF1's from the mid 70's when i got my license till the early 90's when i got rid of my 1300g sports coupe, the last 2 years i have been scouring the world market in trying to find a car to replace the 1300g sport, seen a few pictures of them in japan on vintage rally runs but can't seem to find a contact of someone to see if any are for sale. One day i might succeed in my quest, as to you kosta good luck in your find and hope the resto goes very well and if you need any information as to how something goes together or how to rebuild something let me know as 2 of the FF1's i have had, i had rebuilt them from scratch. My direct email is tezjulz@pacific.net.au PS i have just ordered the three colours of the models that are on ebay to go with the other 3 model i have at home, just need to wait till the 1300 is released. Cheers and good luck, Thierry
  8. Have a play around this site, you will see this model plus lots of other interesting cars, the 360 would be the only model to suit this section tho Thierry http://www.prestigemotorsport.com.au/search.php?skipValidationJS=0&action=results&id=&query=subaru+&submit=Search&sold=available&andor=AND
  9. do a google search for a fuji rabbit and see what turns up, that is what i do to find some interesting pics on the FF1
  10. I just stumbled over one in the state's on ebay, i am trying to get him to quote on postage to down under, also it finishes in less than 10 hr from now, also the guy it is for has ducked over to the uk Thierry
  11. i would love to go for a brows through your shed but you are a bit to far for me, but if you come across a FF1 water pump put it near the door of the shed and give me a yell. Cheers from down under Thierry
  12. leeroy did you have a 1400 coupe for sale on ebay a while back
  13. If the leone series 1400 was the start of the gen 1 cars what do we call the FF1's, or shall we shuffle the numbers up one
  14. And to think i have owed at least one of those cars in my time, except the 1400rx was the GSR Thierry
  15. that is ok , it is a shame we can't save the pictures

  17. Does anyone know where i can get a new water pump for an FF1 preferably new, a freind of mine is chasing one to get his car back on the road. I saw one on ebay months ago but he wasn't quick enough to grab it. Much appreciated. Thierry
  18. It is here, after a month of waiting and correspondence, it has finally got here, the duco is perfect, not a scratch or dent, wish it was a sports model but beggers can't be choosers, a nice white 2 door 1967 1000cc, all my christmas's came at once when i got the knock on the door when it arrived, living beauty, all 2 inches of it. Now that makes 3 i have on my mantel peice, just have to wait for the 1969 1100 version arrives, hmmmm wonder if they will realease the 1300g series before i pass away, took over 30 years for these one's Till next time be good and send me the picture if your not good. Thierry
  19. When i was young and stupid, i rebuilt a ea63s, 1400 gsr motor in the bedroom of the house, as we all do, the motor was complete with all accessories and clutch, my brother was going to give me a hand to lift to the garage but the wife said she will help, so when we went to lift it she said it was to heavy, by that time i couldn't get hold of my bro so in frustration i picked up the motor single handed and and through the house and down the stairs to the garage i went, it is possible, i moved lots of engines around the garage but not long distantses like that time. Thierry (not so young and stupid just older)
  20. Sorry about the tease, but it is there, mind you it is only 1/43 of the real size, there have been some gold colour 4 doors for a few months around but i have just bought a white 2 door, must of just been released, tried to buy a second one but must of been the only one he had, oh well just need to wait. do a search in ebay under subaru 1000 and you will see a couple of gold 4 doors there. Cheers and like me i am stilll looking for a full size car to come on the market, i would swap my first born for a mint 1300g sports, actually you can have my first born for free, just pay for the food Thierry
  21. If you can get a hold of a book " Subaru the innovator downunder" there is a picture of the car there, i am still trying to find a link at the moment
  22. if you do a search somehow and find rallying in australia early 70's any pictures you see is most probably of that car, they were a factory team but left the cars behind, i haven't crossed path with that guy for over 20yrs
  23. Back in 1980 when i was picking up one of my FF1's i came across a fellow who had a factory subaru GSR rally car from 1974, while i was drooling over it i noticed that it had disc brakes on the back of it, that was the first and only time i had ever come across it, also i saw some intersting bits that he had in his shed Thierry
  24. a few months back there was a thread which showed a 1300g in a salvage yard which was going to be closed down what is the story of that one did anyone save it
