First of all its more than just that.I've worked on EA82T's before and it'll be more than an hour for what I have to do.Turbo, exhaust, cables(have to route clutch rather specifically),hoses, alternator, power steering,radiator,fans.....and a front axle. And after not touching it for way too long I've already seen that I really need that beehive turbo wagon as a model, and maybe for brackets and exhaust too.One look at the A/C bracket and I was turning it all different ways trying to see how it goes...not that I can't figure things out,but it didn't just set down and bolt up without a long hard look at the model car.Routing of hoses, things like that. Secondly, you have no idea about my situation, apparently, which is understandable. I guess when you put it to me like that though I have to go and prove myself now.So if you're alluding to wanting to come help well I appreciate that but I'm going to keep to myself for awhile other than hanging with Charlie or my brother to get the wagon done. Thanks anyways.

Thanks Jon,PM sent. Should be this weekend.I/we really need to wrap up this Harrisburg ordeal and I need to retrieve that wagon NW of Scranton,so I'll be flying through your area sometime....hopefully. Things have been a bit crazy for scheduling. Can't get everyone together so plans get scratched at the last minute.Andrew is on a special mission so he's out this weekend.Hopefully Charlie comes through.

Wow again!! How much of that work was discounted through your relations with contractors, suppliers, etc.? I'm not breaking stones here, just trying to get the average user an idea of the actual cost of a total restoration.Since nobody here has done it your way I think it'd be nice for all to break down costs and see where the guy with no connections is going to have to pay more than you did for certain procedures. There's no way in the world that resto would cost under $2k up here in CT. Just trying to see where we can save some dough.I sure can't afford to go much higher than $3k per resto when I get mine going. And if I go your route it'll be over $4k up here without question. -
Thanks for the offer Connie. But,I don't think there's enough for a group of people to do. It's just that I keep hearing from Charlie and my brother that they might be able to stop by...and I know they're just busy and not any different from me when I get overloaded and make promises,or indications that can help someone out and can't come through. So I don't want to make any plans of a get together if one of those guys can stop by in the next couple of weeks. I know Charlie is every bit as good a tech as my brother. If either one of those two showed up I'd have that car running in a few hours, tops. The GLF is off the market for now.No secret deals, nothing. We'll settle ourselves over that as soon as I can get another daily driver.

Wow!!!!!! Got a total cost on that project?? If you prefer not to share that info,I'll understand, but man am I curious. I thought you needed a door panel? I've got one set aside for you. -
Where does this go?

Todd's right.Usually on the parking/emergency brake cover.I'll check mine next chance I get. Glove box might work better. Those labels seem to have been made in the early 70's. It shows instructions for drum and disk brakes. '75 was the last year for drums up front as far as I remember. -
Sneak Peak : Its 1978 Again
moosens replied to bryanthompson's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Yup,that's right.Drum brakes on '72-75 non ff-1's,except the Coupe which got disk brakes from '72 onward. The ff-1's brakes are near the tranny. -

Thanks Bryan!! You left your phone at the mail place...they called me...go get that phone. -
Wow,that's the mother load.Well,I'm up late tonight....er,this morning, after going through just one box of goodies from this haul. There's a good amount of ff-1 items but I put them aside for Charlie, who owns a '71 wagon that came with an 1100 but he's replaced with a 1300.There's a set of front bumper gaurds that are probably the sweetest of the items I went through. Long process, but certainly engaging.Every part I look up is its own little hunt.I now have the USA versions of all factory parts manuals from the 1968 "360" through 1979 laid out on the table. Whatever there is for leftovers we'll gladly let go of at very fair rates. Those remaining boxes will surely have more ff-1 parts than Charlie can use.And there's some exhaust too. Keep your eyes open for me would you? My '73 1400 GL Coupe can use some help here and there.

Oh....I forgot and thought Marcus Dairy was this weekend....so I might make that event then. Let me know what you want to do on the fivespeed GLF.....I'm willing to help and there's LOTS to do down that way,as mentioned in the other post.I'll be tough on the housework I'm trying to get done but if I push real hard this coming week I'll be in the clear. Talk to you soon. -

Next weekend?? Connie,I just saw Lucky.Looks pretty good. The shop owner had a poor opinion of the rest of the sturcture,etc.. So I think it's eBay time.:-\ Do it soon and pretty much count on seeing Lucky one last time. I just need to wrap up Harrisburg and get that PA wagon this weekend. After that things look pretty flexible. I just want one good blast this year, like OBX for a long weekend.Otherwise we'll be local on weekends all summer. -

Thanks Bryan. You're welcome to call me from there if that's you'd like to. -
Wow,that's got to be the last hold of ff-1's on the planet other than the few scattered about. The ff-1 wagon that sits in a barn pictured here in the last couple of months is still there.I talked to the owner and I'm trying to figure a way of getting it from their baqrn in the middle of nowhere to the shipping terminal cheaply. The other ones pictured recently are either just old pictures or the one from the Tacoma WA area. That owner seems to have either sold that sedan,or decided to keep it.He hasn't spoken up here or replied to phone calls. Your brother is now the King of ff-1's on planet Earth. I can see where the original Subaru dealers got stuck with much ff-1 parts....I'm buying a lot of it right now. Did you folks have the 1000cc for very long? The 1000,1100,and 1300's are all considered reliable by our experience here.We just don't have any 1000's now and 1100's are almost as hard to find now too. There's a handfull of 1300's still around, but I'd say less than a dozen running in cars.

If anyone goes there I'm seriously interested in the dangling front bumper if it's straight and not beaten.I don't care about the "stays" or brackets as some would call them.I just want the long bumper with nice ends.If it needs rechrome I'm cool with that. I'm also wanting that front passenger side seat-backrest if it's not torn. Items of interest: door panels - only if worth cleaning shifter boot - same as above shifter rod and any linkage small badge located right below the cigarette lighter-take the whole vent if needed. - only if decent, don't need it if poor quality steering column plastic cover with "illumination lamp" that sits on topside steering wheel (I do not need the ignition, combo switch,or column as a whole, just parts listed-thanks) gear shift stay boot - located going into the tranny under car axles Let me know if you're willing to help. Thanks -
Elad, yes I still have the grill in a box....and it'll get to you,I swear. Meanwhile, would you like to get in on the windshield gasket group buy? That way I can ship both to you. You're going to need one sooner or later.Leaky windshields cause rusty floors. Let me know.Check the thread and email me if you want to get in on the deal. Take care, Paul

Got the dough, thanks. I'll make an update of the speadsheet later this week and attempt to post it...or email it to each of you. -
You kids made 4 pages of consideration..... somebody go. Or just meet up with me/us at Pine Barrens Rt. 206 in Atsion,NJ.....look for a date in the semi near future. I'd still be up for the offroad park near Hazelton, but could use a better weekend too.How about shoot for a better date for Hazelton, and if you guys can join in at the Pine Barrens then that's just an added pleasure. With some more time I should have a better beater for the trails,or put some effort into the "family truck" -GL Touring wagon. This weekend I'd have to either go soft,or not go at all on the trails. We need the car for cargo hauling from Harrisburg to CT.:-\

That's right,it was a later bumper makeshift fitted to the rear. Well,I'm still wanting one.Might end up with Brian's from MT,but it's still seems a long way off. There's less than half a dozen of these known to be in driving or semi-driving condition.Andrew-1,Charlie-1,Brian-2,the one from the "museum"-1 and now this one....not a runner. Score this wagon if you have space to tuck it away. -

(edit) Scratch that....... Looked good at first, but it'd have to be free. That's still a good base for someone more local.Custom interior, have some fun and make the seats actually comfortable....some paint, tune up that little powerhorse 1300 and save $$$$$$. I've got parts to keep it going, but nothing to make it look much better.
