I've seen ones like that but powered by small block V8's. It would be interesting to see a Subaru engine in one.

I figure I would post this here because this is where I always am. This forum, by far, has been the most informative with the nicest people. I have been to forums where no one knows anything informative or never replies back for anything. The other problem I have (in other forums) is people criticize you for mods you want to do, not so much help, point out problems, or support your idea, just tell you that you're stupid for considering such a thing and that it could never happen. Here it's a different story, people here do have a lot of experience with the Subarus and it makes it easier for help. If someone wants to do something extravagant or just a mod no one has tried, there is a lot of support and if someone is not sure it can be done or shows that there could be a problem, they state it in a helpful manner. I state this for two reasons: 1) I totally didn't expect Monstaru to send me a foglight switch. It kind of threw me back. Also Craven popped up right away when I asked about a door for my GL (which I still need to get, when I get a job ). 2) I've been on a car forum (not so much a technical forum like this, but a car enthusiast forum) for the better part of 3 years. I would be on there everytime I got on the computer. Now I find myself here more, for the fact that I'm am truly interested in Subies now and that I'm learning a lot from a car company that isn't talked about a lot (unless it's an STi) So pretty much, I'm glad to be a part of this forum!

WOW Do you guys actually have that bad of salt usage out there in Iowa? I have a friend who lives in Central Iowa and none of his older vehicles had that bad of rust on them. He had an '87 Chevy 4x4 his dad bought brand new, and the only rusted part on it was one of the gas tanks and the rear wheel well lips. Chevy Trucks from that era rust bad too.

Who made the factory radios? Does anyone make a install kit for aftermarket radios on the EA82s? and How hard is it to replace the rear speakers in a 3-Door Coupe?

Amsoil is good stuff, I use the Synthetic Oil in my fiance's Eclipse.

Also, is there a lot of engine and suspension mods for these? I take it that it uses the same 2.5L that the Impreza uses.

The two that I would trust is Royal Purple MAX ATF or Red Line Synthetic ATF.

I just wanted to know how hard it is to find a late 90's Legacy 2.5 GT with a manual? I'm kind of interested in getting one of these and it seems like all I can find are either L's or GT's with Autos. Are they rather reliable? Is there a 2.5 GT wagon and sedan at that time?

I would like to see some pics of what you guys have done with aftermarket gauges. I have never been one to trust the factory oil, temp, and voltage gauges, especially in a 20 year old car that sat around in a field for 5 years. So I'd like to see where you guys have installed them on EA82s.

EA82. Actually, it is refered to as a relay considering the insides have a piece of spring metal wrapped in a resistance wire which heats up the spring metal and forces it to touch a contact. It's technical name is a thermal flasher. I've never heard it called a flasher module. I know a strobe light internals are called flasher modules. A module refers to self contained unit that has circuitry in it, like an engine ecu.

Where are the relays for the turn signals? Ever since I got the GL, the turn signals have not worked. The hazards work, but not the turns.

Ahh, does anybody have a pic of the factory fog light switch? I'm just interested in stuff like that. Monstaru gave me a fog light switch out of a XT6 that will fit in the hole closest to the vent. I'm gonna use that.

I borrowed a pic from Alex GL-10 to show what I'm talking about. I'm glad you had the steering wheel turned.

Looking at the gauge cluster, on the left hand side of the steering column, below the gauges, there is two cover plates. One farthest to the left (near the heater vent) I have figured for a factory foglight switch, and the other (closest to the column) is a wide cover, and when I pulled it off, there is a hole for what looks like a rheostat. Is there anything that is supposed to go in this whole or inplace of this cover?

I like red, I really do, but I don't like my GL color combo, Red with a Brown Interior. I wish it could have been grey or black, but what can you do when you get a free car.

Oh, I thought you were implying that the wagon in the pic was a 4WD. Well, what size tires can be used, so they don't rub?

Should of had 5' forks. The other thing, he probably didn't have the forks tilted back correctly. My question is, why was it 10 feet in the air? You'd only need it to be about 6 to 7 feet up.

But the FWD subies sit lower. At least my GL looks like it does. I thought if I got 15" pugs, I could put a lower profile tire on it.

I was just curious, because all I ever see is Pugs on the 4WD subies. Does anyone have them on a 2WD GL or something? Pics as well would help, I'm curious to see what it looks like.

If I had a spare one laying around, I'd trade you for sure. Unfortunately I sold my last one about 10 months ago.
