Symptoms of a clogged catalytic converter.....
Silentpal replied to travis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if the engine is out of tune up; excess fuel entering exhaust; oil or anti-freeze entering exhaust; bad spark plugs or spark plug wires; bad 02 sensor.. are some of the possible causes why subaru catalytic converter fails.. so better check on those things.. -
I would have to agree on that!

i think it won't fit.. anyways, it would help to ask a trusted mechanic or the dealer if that carter carburetor would fit on a 1987 subaru gl. this way you'll have more info.. good luck

I will rule out a possible weak battery since you said it is new. Problem like yours sound likely caused by a bad alternator, clogged fuel line, a dirty carb.

If your muffler is not welded use a chisel to cut muffler off of pipes. Do this by cutting the muffler inlet and outlet tubes on both sides. Once the inlet and outlet tubes are free, you can now remove the muffler. Since most mufflers have an inlet and outlet end, make sure they are pointed in the right direction.

i got some parts at wholesale price from carpartswholesale, when we had to do a project for a friend. thought you might want to give it a try and you might find windshield for your car.

it might be a exaust leak or the little hose going to your breather element isn't attatched properly.
