  1. that would be sick. Someone please do it. My only concern would be the gearing ratios.
  2. What really gets me is that in other countries, manufacturers like toyota (for example) sell their trucks with diesels yet don't offer them in the US. I was talking to a friend who thinks there are other manufacturers that do the same. I would buy a diesel in a heartbeat, but for whatever reason, the US market doesn't support them, which is beyond me since the mileage in the smaller 4 cyl diesels is unfreaking believable. :-\
  3. You guys are getting better than me. My 93 leg wag is getting well under 20 in the city, and maybe a little more than 20 on the highway. The ski rack may make the highway mileage a little worse, but probably don't explain the crappy city mileage. Oh, and mines a baby. 138K. On my last tank, I got 14.9 and it was all city. Granted, I drive it like a car was meant to be driven. I don't have a throttle so much as I have on on/off switch attached to my foot. Jordan
  4. How difficult is it to replace main seals? Any pictorials? :-\
  5. Hmm... my 84 wagon should be running well by then. It certainly wont be lifted though. Jordan
  6. I haven't ever contacted SOA, mostly becuase I have never bought a new sube (but no own 3). I have however written a letter to Saturn. When I was in college, I bought a brand new saturn that made funny little backfiring noises and required new fuel injectors at 1200 miles (twelve hundred). I contacted Saturn because even after replacing the injectors, there was still a funny noise. Not only did I recieve a handwritten apology and a card from the GUY AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD IT TO ME, but I also recieved a call from someone in Spring Hill TN apologising and promising reconciliation. Then the dealership manager sent me a letter apologising, and it was eventually resolved. My point in telling you this is simple... I will always reccomend Saturn to anyone. That kind of service is rare, and it blew me away. I just don't particularly like saturns now that I have found subaru:rolleyes: . Like someone else said, car companies seem to be begging for customers, and I don't see Subaru getting off their rump roast and trying to compete in terms of customer service and building relationships with customers. I have been to the Subaru dealership (never again) and I have to say, it would be tough for me to buy a new one... Unless they re-released the EA81 wagons, then it would be a no brainer!!!! Jordan
  7. That's a nice Friggin' legacy. Lets see, all I need now is to swap in a turbo and do the 5SM conversion and get a new hood.
  8. Once I get the 84 wagon dialed in, I'm taking it up to the Omak area for some exploring. I'll post before I go sometime in the spring. Jordan
  9. Or turn in into the ultimate sleeper. Get that paperweight out from under the hood, throw a WRX drivetrain in there, change nothing else except maybe add a AAA sticker to the bumper, and enjoy the look on people's faces when you leave tire scraps on their windshield. I also recommend carrying a paintball gun for this, and after flogging them off the line, its always a nice compliment to drift about 90 degrees, roll down your window down and paintball the crap out of their POS while they're still trying to figure out what happend off the line. As Starsky and Hutch used to say, DO IT.
  10. If he said the timing chain has been replaced, ask if he meant belt, because it doesn't have a chain. The six cylinder motors have a chain though, I think.
  11. I have a 4eat (possibly on its way out) and I was thinking about replacing it too. I don't know the answer either, but where are you getting this japaneese one from? Is somebody importing these now too? Jordan
  12. So what's the final diagnosis here? I ask because I need to know what to do with mine. If my compressor is always running it explains why I get the occasional driveway water drip on a dry day as well as the annoying clicking behind the dash despite the AC being off in January in Seattle. This might help gas mileage too....
  13. Not too bad - but see if you can talk him down. Is it an auto or 5sp? If you can do the brakes yourself, its cheap. otherwise, expect 300 for front brakes (maybe ask him to reduce it by that much). The cam seal is nothign, maybe a 50 dollar repair at the shop, or a lot less if you do it yourself.
  14. Welcome to the board. You can order Subaru manuals from Amazon, or any online retailer, and sometimes even eBay. Search for "haines" or "chiltons". They're allright, but the factory service manual (FSM) is going to be best (for most things) and I have no idea where you can get that other than the dealer. Jordan
  15. They're 108.86 at www.SubaruGenuineParts.com and that's an OEM part. Is NAPA an OEM part? Rock auto has A1 cardones (aftermarket) for 36 bucks plus a refundable core. www.rockauto.com
  16. Being new to the board, I have to be the one to ask...... what is it?
