  1. Chef Tim, How much is a LUK clutch, and how long has it lasted? Thanks
  2. Sounds cool, do you have some pics? Did you say that you are going to drop in an ea81TT (is that twin turbo, or something esle?) thanks,
  3. That looks very good! Is it just a piece of square tubing w/ the bumpstops you put on? Looks simple enough, i might have a project...if i can ever afford it! Have you taken them out yet? Let us know how well it holds up to the roads! Nice work,
  4. Thanks Calebz, I've been proven wrong yet again! O well, I swear that i learn 8-10 new things a day here! Now I'll I've got to do is commit it all to memory. thanks again!
  5. Without knowing much about it, there are a lot of cheap mods, and a lot of more expensive mods. You can do a lot to it, but its never going to be a 12 second car unless you want to spend some serious money. get us some more details,
  6. Alrighty, I'll try the hill thing tommorow. I don't have a hoist, but i might have axcess to one. This will most likely be a weekend project then, b/c none of my friends have done the clutch swap. O well, a learnig experience for all of us. Thanks again,
  7. GL-10's did come with single range 5 spds, but not D/R. I'm not sure if they came with the 3AT, don't think so, but I could be wrong...
  8. Alright, So you guys are all positive that it is the clutch? I don't mean to doubt or second guess you guys at all, but I just don't have the money to be spending it on the clutch and have that not be the problem. Is there any test or something that I can do? If it is the clutch, what's easier, pull the engine or drop the tranny? If i drop the tranny maybe i could swap it out for the D/R...? Thanks GD, I'll try and get my dad to let me drive the pick up for a bit. Thanks again,
  9. As corky just said, come up here to Spokane. At the local Pull N' Save yard, all trannies are only $50. They usually have 10-15 subarus in the yard. I know that there is an 88 sedan that has the D/R 5 sp. in it, i just pulled the valance off of it today along withe the drivers side turn signal assembly. $385 is an absolute rip off for just a tranny. You Don't need to find an 87 gl-10 w/ an D/R 5spd to swap into your car. B/c you already have the turbo, any D/R 5spd will go in. I don't know if they even made gl-10's w/ D/R 5spds? I've thought about doing this conversion, but from what other board members are telling me, my clutch is about to go, so thats first. Anyway, Good luck,
  10. How hard is a clutch swap? Is it something I can do by myself in an afternoon? How much should I expect to pay for it all? Thanks again,
  11. Yes, it is a manual. How would I loosen the cable? If I loosen it and it doesn't help, does that rule out the clutch? Thanks again,
  12. Okay, When I'm driving down the road, sometimes it seems like I'm not getting all the power to the wheels. I can't really punch it anymore. The RPM's just go up and I slowly start moving. I have a bad CV in the passenger front. Could this be the culprit, or is it something bigger, worse... the Tranny? Anyone know what my problem is and how I can fix it? Thanks,
  13. suberdave, Is that just pvc from a hardware store or sometyhing? Thanks,
  14. Get your advice here. You should do this yourself, especially since it's not your daily driver. Remember, if you run into any problems, you can always come here and ask! Good luck,
  15. Fans really only do you good at low speeds. Cruising you should have enough airflow going through to cool it.
  16. Hey Andy, I need to replace my Passenger side cv joint. Was wondering if you'd be up to it. Let me know,
  17. Truly amazing! Good luck with the washing and I hope you don't run into too many problems down the line from all that salt! Keep washing!
  18. I think that this is a great idea. In this forum, your going to get a lot of people who will want to see the older cars in your mag, mostly b/c thats what we all have. If you take this to the new generation forum, you'll see a stronger tie to the newer models obviously. They'll probably want a similar thing though, in the how-to write ups and tech pages... but they will want it for their cars, simple huamn nature. I know that if this thing does come out, it will most likely be for the newer models, but with maybe one or two stories abotu older subes. I'd still subscribe, and I'm most positive that if you advertise it right, this will be a big hit. Subarus have a bigger folllowing than most people think. Good luck and I hope to see it in newsstands soon!
  19. If you can find an ea82T, it will bolt up to your tranny. It will obviously give you more power. I've never had an NA ea82, but I'm pretty sure that the Alternator and the AC unit will bolt up to it no problem. Subaru used A LOT of the same parts for their cars, and I think that alternators and AC's were some of them. Someone on here can confirm that for you. I know what it's like. I got my First subaru at 16, and I'm only 18 now. This is a GREAT place to learn about them. Good luck,
  20. If the oil pump isn't working then you should hear the lifters ticking. If it really is the oil pump, then you would need a new one or at least a new mickey mouse gasket. To get to the pump, you have to take off the timing belts, so you could check them to see if they need replacing, and if they look even remotely used, replace them, you're already there, no use in having them break later and having to do all that work over again. Good luck!
  21. I don't know if this has already been asked, butwhat program are you using to edit the video? Are you using a mac or a PC? one more question, how long until you finish? thanks,
  22. Check out importedcarparts.com I bought my oil pump through them for about $70, a boot for the cv, and a couple of other misc. parts. So far, everything has been working great. Their prices are cheap, and the parts are good. Give em a shot for whatever.
