EMERGENCY!! Timing Woes
I was doing the timing on my EA82 and the dist. was turned as far as it could go but the timing was still off. So I pulled the dist. to turn it a tooth and it slipped and now the car won't start. How do I get it back in line?????

Water running/Gurgeling sound from under dash!!
Is it normal to hear water, or whatever it is, running through the heater core? I hear it gurgeling when I am at idle. I assume it is doing it all the time but I just can't hear it over the engine and air noise. But is this normal? Do any of you experience this as well? --GoatBoy

Ignition timing EA82. Distributor can't turn anymore
I just bought the car last weekend and am in the process of trying to get it in the best order possible before taking it through Emissions Tests. The carb was all screwed up and the vac lines were all going to the wrong places. Still haveing idleing problems. When I was looking at the dist. I noticed the thing was spun to its max. I figure that can't be right and started asking around. I haven't put a timing light on it yet. You check the timing through that slot on the bell right? And I believe this is supposed to be 20 degrees before, right?

Ignition timing EA82. Distributor can't turn anymore
Do you just unbolt the two hold down bolts to remove it? Then lift and turn???

Ignition timing EA82. Distributor can't turn anymore

Ignition timing EA82. Distributor can't turn anymore
Thats a possibility. I have never pulled a dist. out before. Maybe someone else did though and didn't put it back right. It is almost at 300k miles on this thing. I am sure someone has messed with this car a bunch. There were parts missing and vac lines mis routed.

Carb Rebuild Questions
EA82 2bbl Hitachi. I am mechanical, I do all my own auto work but I have never done a carb rebuild. How hard is it and how long does it take?

Broken carb mounting stud
Thanks everyone! I think a new manifold and perhaps a carb rebuild while the thing is appart might be the ticket!!

Mystery vacuum line???
Sounds like that might be it. I plugged into the selenoid by the strut tower, there was nipple there that had no hose, and now it does the opposite. It races the engine when I turn on the defroster. But not everytime!!! Grrrr

Defroster is affecting idle speed
Thanks guys. I am new to Subarus. Can you tell?? I have had almost every amke of car now. I played with the vac hose and found the place I think it should be connected but now the idle will jump like 1500 RPM when I turn on the Defrost. And it doesn't do it all the time. I think I have a bad something or other!!

Broken carb mounting stud
How can I fix a broken carb mounting stud??? Got a vac leak right on that corner now!!
-
Defroster is affecting idle speed
When I turn on the defroster, defroster only - not heater or AC, the idle drops a few hundred RPM?? Vacuum leak I assuming but I don't know where to start??

Mystery vacuum line???
I have a 85 GL Wagon 4x4 with a carb. There is a vacuum line not attached to anything and I am not sure where it goes. It starts on the back of a vacuum diaphram that kicks up the idle by moving the throttle. Where does the other end of the line go???
