  1. I need the two boxes alongside the wheel, or just the right side with the a/c and heater controls.
  2. I need a set of dash pods for an 86 XT, anyone have any?
  3. Hey sounds like your having a blast! How's the weather been for ya? Ride safe!
  4. Well there is a nice looking picture wise xt6 out by you guys that I would love to have him drive back for me if it is nice. Oh well maybe after he gets settled we can work out something. His old XT is running great other then the sun roof has started leaking. I need to get that fixed before I get it painted. Just one more thing. If anyone hears from him please update. Would love to know how his ride is going.
  5. Figured we could keep track of Austin this way. Any updates?????
  6. Hey Austin, Ride safe and I wish you the best. Been nice having ya around. Sorry I couldn't get together with ya before you left. This new job is taking lots of time to get used to and the 1½hr drive each way stinks. Anyway, I'm sure we will talk again. john
  7. Did you happen to check www.rockauto.com ? Look under 86 xt dl and it shows a set for ps and then a set that doesnt say ps. Might want to call them
  8. I'm the guy that just replaced the rack. I still have it but the boots are bad. The rack is still good, I just wanted to put power steering back on mine and since the motor was out I figured it was a good time to do it. john
  9. Ok thanks folks for the info. Just picked up another 85 turbo xt off ebay for a parts car. Pretty rusty but engine has new heads and eeverything including the air struts work. Just whaqt I needed, the barn was getting empty
  10. Have any of you guys installed one of the universal turbo timers? I just bought one to install on my 86 XT and it says to find the speed wire from the computer. Not sure what this is, any idea's? The instruction manual is in Japanese but I found a English pdf install manual. Still doesnt show a speed wire
  11. Oh and for the Fram filter, well I run whatever I happen to find where I stop for parts. I will probably go back to Wix but I need to do a couple quick oil changes after I get it running and they were on sale. Never had any problems with them in the 35yrs I've been driving and using them.
  12. Well I have a 2002 WRX TD04 turbo, a up and down pipe and a Inner-cooler sitting here packed away in a box. I was going to do the swap but right now I just want to get the new motor in and the car running. I also have a rebuilt IHI stock turbo that I'm putting back on for now. I dont know if I will do the TD04 swap, lost my job and now I have to drive my SVX around. May just offer up the TD04 and parts for sale. Will have to see.
  13. Somebody posted a picture of a bad fram oil filter awhile back and said they were junk. I have used fram filters for longer then some of you have been alive and never had any issues with them. The picture looked like it was soaked in something other then oil. Oh well thats what the fram thing was about I'm sure. No big deal, I will run what I want on my cars.
  14. HEY, when did you take that one lol. I need a 86 XT4 power steering pump and bracket. posted in parts wanted
  15. Ant to think he brought all that home inside the car and didnt make me ride on the roof rack
  16. Just got the motor out of the XT. I'm getting to old for this stuff Now all I need to do is start swaping new stuff off old motor to JDM motor and put it all back together
  17. Hey Adam, Good luck and keep us informed. Back when I had my camo wagon I was toying with the idea of running a electri motor on just the rear end. Would mean no more 4x4 but the car was to rusty to stick another 4000.00 plus into. You might find some helpful info from this guy and his electric Fiero: http://greenplanet3.org/ev/
  18. Well here is my thoughts cause I have been fighting with the same issues on my XT: I bought a used turbo off the internet and yeah it's lots better. Only thing is it's still doing it alittle. I took my old turbo in and had it rebuilt, picked it up last week. 242.78 was the total cost with tax. If your wheels have not touched and scraped anywhere it's rebuildable. The other issue is the oil exit gets carboned up and the oil can not go back to the pan fast enough, this causes it to pass back into the intake side and smokes. Does it mostly on slow speeds correct? It's on vaccum then. Thats what mine is doing. It's hard to clean that carbon build up off thru oil cleaners but you can try that. I ran a couple thru with cheap oil changes and it helped some. Once you have done that the other thing you can go is run a synsetic <sp> oil in it. Will cost you more but it wont show the blue smoke. Will still probably burn it but atleast you will be able to still see the cars behind you. I finally got tired of trying everyones idea's and just bought a JDM motor. I got it this week and I'm putting my rebuilt turbo on it and then swapping it into the car. I had picked up most of the parts to do a TD04 turbo swap but I'm thinking I wont do it. Dont know yet. Hope this helps some, I'm sure other people will have some idea's and these are just mine. Good luck
  19. Well to tell you the truth I'm hoping to find someone local that I can bring it to. If I go thru the troble of doing rings I will do it all. Austin pulled the heads and resealed the motor before I got the XT from him. Thing I dont like is you can try the motor over pretty easy with a ratchet on the crank pully. Thinking she is getting tired and the last thing I want to do is put a TD04 on a tired motor. Let me know how yours goes.
  20. Well my car runs fine, just getting tired. Can the heads be reworked, like just a valve job?
  21. Was wondering how hard the EA82 turbo motor is to rebuild. Have never had a boxer a part. I've built my own v/8's before.
  22. He is one with just the strut lift and 14" pugs
  23. Today Austin and I put new tensioners, idler pully and timing belts on my XT. I ran some GUNK engine degreaser in the oil for 5 minutes and put in new Schaffer oil in it. While the car was running he pulled the oil cap off the filler tube and the car all most dies. Just curious what the reasoning is behind this. I have never seen a car do this before. Is this because of the turbo?
  24. Yeah thats Austin for ya. He was up a couple weeks ago to take his motorcycle out for a ride. LOL
