  1. Are you sure the temp sending unit for the temp gauge is at the T-stat? I don't see one on mine (87 EA82T). Anyone have a pic???
  2. I just begs for side markers! I love it!
  3. Haven't done squat to the car today. But I remember that while I was working on the car yesterday, I realized why I blew a head gasket. A couple of months ago I fixed all my oil leaks and was building up too much pressure.
  4. Note. Brace the front of the engine on the frame above the radiator, because once you remove the tranny, the engine will shift forward and possibly put a hole in the radiator - unless you already removed it.
  5. Well, got the exgaust manifold off the heads. I was hoping not to have to take apart the turbo apart, but, with a wrench, I couldn't loosen the exhaust / turbo intake nut that sits right under the turbo outlet, so I had to take the outlet off to put a ratchet on the nut. But I got it off. I was scared though, because the nuts that hold the exhaust manifold to the heads came right off. and since exhaust systems are always my achillies heal, I get nervous when things go too easy there. Tomorrow will be the timing covers, belts and heads.
  6. Here are the two that I know well. There are always subies in the yard. I'm pretty sure there is a Pick-A-Part in Madera as well. Pick-n-Pull, 3230 E Jenson. 559-233-3881 *Pick-A-Part, 2274 E Muscat. 559-268-0216 *This yard kept my car alive while in college 16 years ago.
  7. Suzrub. I live in Fresno. If you are in the area or are planning to be, let me know. I have been meaning to go to the yard to get an 86 analogue dash for Murphy, the 87 $500 Turbo-Wag.
  8. When installing new head gaskets on turbo 1800's, should I apply any sealant on the new head gasket???
  9. Yep. When I was replacing my engine in my N/A 5spd 87 white-wag a few years ago, the new engine just wouldn't go in. Turns out Kragen sold me the wrong clutch. Got a second. Again, the wrong one. Third one finaly was right.
  10. I had to replace that one also. I didn't do it when I had the engine out and paid for that decision later.
  11. Nope. The little cooling hose under the turbo is THE WORST.
  12. Subi81, I think you've found your new avatar!
  13. BTDT... And they just HAD to put it on the side that turns the disty.
  14. I'd love to, but I just paid a thou on school fees and don't have the $$$ for the parts.
  15. Hey All. Sorry to be away so long. Been busy. Well, looks like Murphy, the $500 Turbo-Wag's is throwing steam from the # 3 cylinder, so a head gasket job is on the schedule. This is a bummer since I was thinking about doing the A/T to 5spd Manual swap. That's once again on the backburner. I ordered the gasket kit and it will arive on Monday. Since I got the kit, I'm thinking I should go ahead and replace both gaskets. I have, in the past, replaced the gasket without having the head resurfaced, but that was when I was in college and was really, really poor. So this week-end I'll be busy cleaning out the two car garage, which is, at the moment, a one car and Lots-O-Junk garage. PS. I used to be Froggymike, but I'm killing off the moniker. Froggymike is no more. Long live Sonicfrog! UPDATE: Picked up the head gasket kit $101.00. Cleaned garage to make room for car. I start taking Murphy apart today. WILL have the heads milled.
