what fluids to use in clutch LSD
is there an additive that is supposed to be added to the older LSDs? is it something still available from subaru or would any kind of LSD oil work? also would running a synthetic oil mess with the LSD? you know with it more slippery maybe the clutches wouldn't grab as good.

EJ FWD 5 speed into EA81
yup it was the fwd imprezas that had the odd spline count (verses all the other ej trannys) you would also need to run a fwd impreza clutch it was different. other then that it sounds about right.

Replacing Cam Position Sensor

Replacing Cam Position Sensor
mellow65 replied to urban_sub's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXyou should have the 2.2 so really it is that easy. undo bolt replace. on my 2.5 if i remember right it helps to pull the valve covers. worse case scenario would be pulling the valve cover, none of this pull timing cover and gear crap.

can you rebuild subaru clutch LSDs
well jason is out till next week so i called my local dealership. not that i don't think the girl tried but she said that the clutch discs are no longer available, they did at one point even have over sized ones but those are long gone too. i will still get a hold of jason next week and see what he says. but so far it's not looking good.

can you rebuild subaru clutch LSDs
i remember i had an old 80s toyota that i was still able to go to toyota and get all new clutch plates, springs and anything else to fully rebuild the LSD. you could even order thicker ones for more grip. but can you do that with the subaru clutch LSD?

Interchanging Rotors????
mellow65 replied to elmwood22's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthe rears have pretty much been the same size from the first legacy to a 05 wrx. this was the most common size rear rotor ever. 90-99 Legacies/Outbacks with rear discs non-turbo 93-03 Imprezas with rear discs 04+ non-Sti Imprezas 06+ non WRX or STi imprezas Foresters with rear discs Bajas and i used to work at autozone, during down times i would cross reference subaru part (not even joking) the rotors were all the same but the pads were not. the pads were different because of different brackets/calipers. which seems odd that they would use so many different brackets/calipers combos but who am i to tell subaru how to do their work.

Interchanging Rotors????
mellow65 replied to elmwood22's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXif your legacy now has one piston calipers they wont fit. the brakes that were on your outback had to have 15" rim on it to clear the caliper which was a 2 piston. that's the bad news the good news is all you have to do is find the calipers and mounting brackets from 91-94 Legacy turbo 96-02 Legacy GT/Outback 00-04 Legacy non-GT 98-07 Impreza RS/TS/2.5i 98-02 Forester as they all have the same size rotors here is a great write up on brakes for subarus http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1265631

can you swap VLSDs between r160
mellow65 replied to mellow65's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXi'm actually using the 4.44 housing and wanting to put the VLSD in it, so i shouldn't need to clearance for anything. it was originally there. it's kind of like doing a LSD swap for the old GLs, you just use the LSD and nothing else from the 3.7 diff

can you swap VLSDs between r160
mellow65 replied to mellow65's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXi have all the newer axles that fit the wrx VLSD. so i am hoping it's just the process of swapping the VLSD over to the new diff.
