  1. Just wanted to let you all know about a resource you may have available for repair information. Here in Eugene, the public library has a subscription to Alldata. Alldata is a professional technicians' resource that shops pay a lot of $$'s so they can have up-to-date info on TSB's, repair methods, and specs. The shop I used to work at had a subscription, and so when I found out our library had gotten it, I was psyched! As an example, it has all the test procedures for discovering what exactly is wrong when you have a code in memory. You just have to test the components it tells you to, then follow the little boxes to find out, say, if your IAC solenoid code means you have a bad IAC, bad connections at the wiring, or possibly a bad computer. Saved me from spending a bunch of money when all I had was a intermittent bad wire in the underhood loom! Partsman 88 GL 4wd Wagon 5spd SPFI
  2. Hey all, I'm new here - just wanted to say how much I like this board. Have learned a lot of valuable info from cruising the archives. On the subject of O2 sensors: The Bosch one referred to earlier is "generic" in that it has no connector on the end. You have to splice your old connector on, and make sure you keep the wire length the same as the old one (something about resistance in the wire, I think). Bosch also makes a "OE type" version you can just plug right in. As far as I am aware, they both will do the job - one just takes more work and has a splice which has the potential to cause trouble if it develops rust, causing extra resistance. BTW, NAPA (at least the one I work at) sells the sensors for less than Autozone, and you will be keeping your money in your own community, since most NAPAs are locally owned whereas AZ is a megacorp!
