  1. What a nightmare! What is up with this thing you have to turn FOREVER to get it back on the rotor over the new pads. And where do you find the silly tool, or what else can I use instead? My boyfriend has thrown his hands in the air and walked away muttering about fargin bastig Jap piece of s*^t. So, any help will be greatly appreciated. Bobby
  2. Dang! So glad you're okay. Sorry about the Brat though. I say it's not "completely dead, just mostly dead". You can be a Miracle Max and bring it back to life.
  3. Okay, so I'm driving down I-80 just east of Battle Mountain Nevada, about mile marker 395 (see below), and I spy out of the corner of my little eye, a sad and lonely yellow Brat in someone's front yard. Just sitting there, looking so forlorn and un-loved. My bf wouldn't stop and let me look at it though:mad: 'Cause we would have had to turn around, get on the frontage road, yada yada.....anyway, my point is.....It looked like a Gen 2 (as far as I could tell, but I could be wrong), in pretty good shape. Someone from NV that is close to it might want to check it out. I'll also be posting the final pics of the "Marshmallow" restoration soon. Just gotta get the wagon wheels on her and a few odds and ends. Cheers everyone! Sorry I think the mile marker number is wrong. After I though about it, the number is 235. Anyway, if anyone goes there, it's right on the south side frontage road, easy to see.
  4. Well.....I don't know......PINK?????? Not only do I say yes, but HELL YES:clap: THINK PINK !!!!!
  5. Took the Marshmallow to the carb Dr. today. It's amazing what someone witha little know how and the right tools can do. She's running smooth, no coughing and spitting on startup, no hesitition on take-off, and I can even run the A/C without her dying at the stop light. I can tell she feels a whole bunch better. Now, I feel like I deserve a beer........ And then back to the re-assembly fun....
  6. I like that stripe idea. It's not tooooo, if you know what I mean. Thanks for the picture. I'm going to check out the Saddleman place as soon as I can also. Thanks for your input. Bobby A couple pics of the latest progress. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=12461&cat=500&ppuser=19374
  7. Thanks Mary, I'll check out that seat cover company. I actually looked at some "saddleblanket" type seat covers, but the only blue they had was a strange sort of baby/green blue that wasn't very appealing. Where did you see the picture of the Brat with the stripes like you mentioned? I'd like to see that:) I'll check the brochures and see what I can see also. Bobby
  8. I was thinking the same thing about the upper body line. Just to break up all the white a little too. I'm leaning more towards blue as I get more opinions. The wheels have been blasted and powder coated white. So now I have 5 "steelies" I think you call them (the original wheels anyway) and the wagon wheels.
  9. I'm not sure what else I could put on her. I have a roll bar, A-bar, jump seats, wagon wheels, and all the chrome trim (which I don't think I'll put the side pieces back on, just the bed trim). I may be persuaded to sell what I don't use if anyone is interested. It's in fairly good shape as far as I can tell. One of the side view mirrors has a little peeling on the base, and the dash is a wreck, the ashtray lid is cracked (s'ko should have one of those for me), but other than that, I think she's pretty much complete. I was thinking I might stripe it to kinda take your eyes away from the little dings and hoozits that I didn't get filled in all the way. My nephew and I did the best we could, but we're no experts by any means:eek: Again, thanks for the pats on the back, and now I'm off to get the grill cleaned up and put back in, and get the bed rhino-liner done.
  10. Thanks everyone! It's not the best body and paint job, but she looks good in pictures:lol: I painted her white because that was the original color (Cotton White #63), and I tried to get as close to that without having to pay a fortune for paint matching and whatever... Sorry I don't know everyone's "real" names yet, so... 75Subie: Yes I had thought that black stripes would be good. But the interior is blue, so I'm still not sure on the color. But I have purchased black seat covers (couldn't find any blue ones I liked) to keep the seats in the shape they are in, and I'll probably get a black dash mat because the dash is in really sad shape. What, you're not surprised????? And I'm also going to do that black Rhino-liner stuff in the bed. So, the question is, black or blue stripes??? Or do I put the Pink Panther Paw Prints down the side for pin striping like I originally intended, (I really like the Pink Panther), or do I just want the BRAT letters like McBrat makes and have the pinstripes painted on? There's a guy here locally that does awesome painted pin striping. And he's a friend of my boyfriend's so I'll probly get a good deal on it. What do you guys think? Bryan: Yes, I do want to keep it as stock as possible, with maybe a few extra little things. Moosens: A very special thanks to you. I have been trying to think of an appropriate name for the little gal, and you just gave it to me. She will officially and forever be christened, "THE MARSHMALLOW". Anyway, thanks again for all the "atta girls", and I'll keep posting pics as I go along. I got all the lights back on last night, working on the grill and bumpers tonight. "Slow and steady wins the race" said the Tortoise to the Hare. Cheers everyone:burnout:
  11. Finally !!! The Brat is back from the paint shop. I know a lot of you have done this many many times, but it's my FIRST time so be gentle with me please:grin: I'm all aflutter over the whole thing, and I had to share with someone, so you guys are it. Now comes the fun of putting it all back together. Anyway, have a look. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=12403&limit=recent
  12. Sounds good. You'll have to let me know what you find in there when you drop the tranny.
  13. what color is the interior? I would be interested in the ashtray if it is blue, and it is the one that sits on top in the dash. Bobby
  14. Mary: Ummm, maybe it's just been a REALLY long day at work, but I don't get this. What do you mean by "new" problem?:-\ (I think I'm having a blonde moment) Or maybe I just need a beer or 3 . Captain, I feel a little better about tackling this by myself now. I was certainly not looking forward to anything major to fix my rattle. Thanks ever so much:) . Bobby
  15. Subyluvr; I could probably wait, but in a few months I might be on this forum from the loony bin. But, if that's what it takes....... Guru; Maybe I'll lift that boot and give it a look see. That would be the least invasive way for right now. I just hope I can get it to stick back down. I just had to do that with the other one, and it was a pain in the backside. But I finally got it. Thanks guys.... Anyone else want to throw their 2 cents worth in????
  16. So, I read on Subaru3's webpage about getting the little plastic bushing to stop "shifter rattle". I called a dealership, they have the part he talked about. What I need to know how much trouble it will be to put it on. The shifter that is rattling is the 4WD selector. Can I fix it from the top side by pulling the boot up, or am I going to have to do something more drastic? I asked the guy at the dealership, but he had little or no knowledge about subies other than the pictures and numbers in his parts book. I'd appreciate any and all advice..... Thanks Bobby
  17. Michael, (the welder guy) said that he has them almost done:banana: Has anyone out there ever rhino lined the seat frame (the part that hooks to the bed of the truck) like you do the bed of the truck? I was wondering how that would look?
  18. Yes, it is Nate Wade. They still have the gen 2 sedan. That is if you mean the silver one that was orignally bought from them in 1983. Maybe someday they'll have a complete collection with hatchbacks and wagons and oooooh just everything. Then we can all go and and be that they don't belong to us.....
  19. I saw these today at one of our local Subaru dealerships. I thought you might enjoy the pictures. Sorry they are not real great, all I had was my cellphone. When I mentioned to the guy at the parts counter that they needed a little 360 car, he said they had one being restored right now that should be done in a couple months. The Brat has 31,000 original miles on it and I think the little van had like 50,000 or so original miles. The 360's remind me of something Inspector Clouseau would be driving. Anyway, I hope you enjoy them. 20. So, Cuba, I'm not the only one getting those looks? Good to know. I was beginning to get a complex.:-p When I first bought my Brat and drove it to work all proud to show it off, my co-workers gave me the "what ya gonna do with that piece of crap" look. But now, they all want daily updates and pics to see how it's coming along. I guess my enthusiam for this project is contagious. Anyway, back to the jump seats. I have the complete set. The only problem is that the handles are twisted and/or broken. My welder friend Michael said that on further review he may be able to repair them for me. Or at the worst use them as a pattern to make new ones. I also had the the thought of making the jump seats removeable. I thought I might be able to fabricate a plate that welds to the bottom of the frame and just bolts into the bed. I'll get into that more when I get the outside body work done. Anyway, it's a work in progress, and I'm having a great time doing it. Thanks for the help and advice guys. You ROCK!!! 21. I am wondering what my chances would be of finding just the part that the jump seat bolt to. I have a complete set, but the "arms" that the hand grips go on are bent and twisted and one of them is missing completely. :-\ Am I chasing the proverbial unicorn here? I am trying to get them fixed by a welder type guy I know, but when I showed them to him he looked at me as if I had gone totally insane. Anyway, I guess it never hurts to ask, right????
  22. Just to get a little perspective on the size. (the pic is REALLY big.) The longer hose is only about 8" long, and the diameter on both hoses is about the size of a pencil.
