  1. I'm running 6 bolt wheels so those swaps aren't going to work for me. I'm not afraid of custom fab work...
  2. anyone have any other ideas for a parking brake other than rear disc conversion?
  3. My pinion brake idea isn't going to work, not enough clearance between the snout of the diff and the torsion bar :/
  4. That I can do http://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t102180-steel-widebody.html http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1655704 The nasioc one is a little more complete I think
  5. I've already got Journals for my Impreza on rs25.com and nasioc.com... I may put up a post about it but 3 journals is getting a little excessive
  6. Brats been on hold for a bit while I was getting the impreza ready for WCSS14, now back on the main burner... Got the stock oil pressure sensor into the EJ block with a bit of machining today. Over the next few weeks I'll be putting together a hitch bumper for the rear, a pitch stop, the pinion park brake and hooking up the leftover sensors for the EJ swap. If I get time I'll also be repairing and bedlining the bed. Want to have everything working properly by october to be ready for the winter.
  7. Yanno... it sucks to be one of the 'new gen guys' and have to put up with this sort of stuff constantly :/ We're not all shop queens. There were quite a few newer cars in the mud pit, and a lot of those new gen cars are home built. A lot. Just because they aren't fabricating their own bumpers doesn't mean they're not getting dirty! And what's wrong with wanting a shiny car?
  8. I was disappointed too but I'll be back next year Maybe they should have a category next year, Best DIY?
  9. :/ I wouldn't go that far. There are a lot of unique newer rides. There's goodness to be seen in every facet of the subaru gem
  10. It's not really practical for me to get involved in the planning and such but I'm ALWAYS willing to give a hand whenever you guys need it. Just say the word. It's rarely apparent to me when help is required but I'm happy to give it when it's asked for.
  11. Thanks so much, I had an awesome time as always. I'll be back again next year, hopefully with my Brat too!
  12. I told a lot of people who were complaining about various things this. If you don't like it, volunteer your time to make it better next year. It's hard to organize a show like this. Things aren't going to go smoothly, and it sucks for everyone but there's only so much they can do. I do agree though that the grounds were poorly set up for the show. Very few people made it out to the oldschool or GC sections, they weren't visible from the vender booth area. No fault of the organizers though. They can't change where the buildings were located, plus I noticed a lot of people simply ignoring where they were told to park because they wanted to be near their friends. As a personal sidenote regarding judging... I was of course disappointed I didn't take home a plaque. But I'm not angry, or feel like the judging was unfair. I had a lot of people telling me they thought I should have won, or that other cars should have won for various reasons... And I definitely appreciate the sentiment but it's really not something to get that upset about. That's not what WCSS is about to me. I'd come if there weren't any awards given out at all. I'll try again next year, and be happy to come home empty handed again. It's not worth getting mad about guys And if you've decided you're not coming back next year because of the way the show was judged, the show is probably better off without you.
  13. So happy I got to see this thing in person, absolutely amazing! So well done. Wish I could have seen it in action!
  14. Pinion parking brakes are pretty common. They just don't make one for the r160. http://tsmmfg.com/Pinion_Mounted_Parking_Brakes.htm
  15. I don't have an ebrake right now at all EDIT: Oh I get what you're saying. No, I don't trust hydraulic to keep my car parked. One tiny leak and you'll lose pressure and your car will leave.
  16. Thanks I've got an idea for my parking brake now that I'm beginning to flesh out Basically I think I'll machine a 'rotor' to go between the driveshaft and rear diff pinion flange, and use a small rear brake caliper with built in parking brake and run the cable up to a parking brake handle. I'll build a bracket for the caliper off the forward diff mount bolts so the caliper moves with the diff. I don't think it'd be strong enough to abuse for doing handbrake turns and stuff, but should be just the ticket for parking on hills.
  17. So it's still rubbing a bit but turns out that wasn't the noise I was getting the fan of my giant alternator was rubbing on the hood haha
  18. Wow seems like a pretty common problem.... I'll try figuring out pitch stop and maybe dropping the trans an eighth of an inch or so
