yeah after i posted i cleaned everyhting real well and it still didnt work. but im shur ill figur it ous sometime (or someone les will )

here she is almost done just needs some tranny fluid and a new axle and shes ready to rock. (oh and the sterio :-P) i was up all night and still am up but it was worth it the bugga sprung a leak o ring from the water pump pipe so i had to fix that then put her new shoes on how dose she look. im thinking of putinga bow on her and suprizing my Gf (((she dosent know its done)))

ok really weird (for me) someone els is probly gonna go "oh well duh". ok so got the 1989 dl coupe running after head gaskit job and fired it up runns then dies dose this over and over well if you get it at about 2 or 3 grand it would run ok but you can hear it goin up and down in idle speed ever so slightly. well i searched and read about 4 or five threads and people point to the MAF or in my case AFM (same thing just diferent design) anywho so i go out pull the 2 little screws and unplug it looks good (see pics) well then i unhook the top part of the air box and look in it its got some oil on it but nothing biblical (large) and i figure what the hell and i try to start it. viola IT RUNS amazingly it runs beautifully i tap the gas and it dosent miss a beat and it idles just great. but now i cant figur out why it runns so good with no AFM its unpluged and the breather tube,hose,pleanum W/E its called is just open. i know the previous owner and i know the car ran fine when he had it untel the terminal intake gaskit failure. i have no idea what a headfailure wuld do to the AFM but for now i am gonna just runn it with the AFM unplugged as it runns so well. PS i also eliminated the ports on the side of the exhaust ports under the engine (put plates over them) and eliminated the EGR. but other than that just a regular rebuild.

got the 2 and 4 plug wires crossed but swaped the m and fired right up. sounds sweet ill get video later. thanks Rob.

good luck i have been looking for a simaler set (white lights with subaru covers) but i ha ve only seen 2 sets in ly whole life and one was in a pic.

hey was thinking about breaking in the new weber and figured i would see if anyone wanted to go this january. if youre gonna be in my neck of the woods thinking about going to lions Rock its cool up ther in the summer i can only imagin the veiw in the winter. so yeah some time january i wont know the official date untill after christmas but figured i would throw it out there. car is in cood shape body and all i havent seen the engine or the milage but i am probly going to offer 500 i cant really pay 1000 for a non running car i meen i could if i wanted find a 98 imp for 500 that runns and drives and jusr replace a few damaged body panals. but yea KBB ha ha ha ha and might i add HA!

lol this is funny i like how people get deep with this kinda stuff. silver you kinda sound spoiled but im not holding that against you atleast you did most of the work that you could do yourself (you did right?) i know kids that have older cars that are all decked out but you know mommy and daddy pay for them. Honestly if you spend youre own money on it and do what you like to make it unique go for it as for the "OP" if it gets wrecked just make shur you have good proof of what you have spent on it. i have a 1980 wagon that i got for "free" and i love it to death i actualy traded it off and felt really really bad then my friend cam back the next day and decided he didnt want it it made me realize i loved it as for what i have into it. All my own work: new tires,wheels,seats,carpit,dash,headliner,electronic ignition,custom free flow 2 inch exhaust,alarm system,remote start,paint,third eye,touch screen navagation. and the sterio system two 4 inch speekers in the front doors,two 6 inch speakers in the back doors, one 1000 watt amp,two 15 inch audiobahn subs,kenwood hide away deck. and alot more to come. people think its just an old car but i love it with all my heart. I will never sell it (unless its life or death ) just make shure that you try to do some of it yourself it sounds like you have but its just not the same when you pay to have something done. hey been an older gen guy fora wile but my neighbor has a 1998 impreza sedan she says it needs a motor but idk yet i havent looked at it. anyways she gota new car and i was wondering what its worth i meen im not gonna pay a whole lot but she said she would make me a deal on it. its a 2.2 i think its a 5 speed and its the dark green color i really like it but i dont want her to over price a car with a bad engine. any info helpful thanks Rob.

well its up to you if you put 7000 into it thats how much its worth to you but it dosent matter what a book says unles your a subaru person people dont realize the value of thes cars andthe not so value i saw a guy trying to get 3000 out of a 1984 wagon:eek: and it was all rundown and rusty. .
