EA71s are fast!
Subaru_Mechanic replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
to me fast is bein stopped at the light and havin a chevy 1500 pull up and challenge you cause ur subaru (brat) sounds better and is louder then his truck. so he rev. and shakes his rig. the light hits green and you pop the clutch damn near breaking ur neck and leaving that truck in a little smoke.. hahaha:headbang: thats fast. terminal velocity isnt a bigh factor with me... -

theres the one i was lookin for. thank you! ive done work on the old hondas... the yzf 450 is faster then them. especially the 1979 hondas but hey hondas are cool to, everyone has their own favorite vehicles. my favorite truck is the Humvee so not all my choices are subaru. my point. people saying subarus arnt fast is a slap in the face to me. Ex. i Eat Breath live subaru, so hearin that is like tellin tellin you, you cant shoot, even though your a sniper.. get it? -

do some research. Subaru is killing the competition. reaching speeds of 200 mph is quite a feat for a all-wheel drive car. 1990's hondas are fast, i wouldnt ever buy one. if anyone here owns a honda 'good for you'. and i dont mean any offense. ive put months of research into subaru and their up commings, and my findings leave me to believe that subaru is all around better than honda. Ex: new hondas are big and stupid looking not to mention half eletric (to me) and new subarus are a better looking and faster car, every year they find a way to squeese more horses outta that amazing flat four and yet honda finds a way to dump more eletric motors into the bulky body.... my favorite honda would be a 1993 civic ex my favorite subaru is the 2004 wrx sti 600tt (hey GD i just about got into the Army national guard, i gotta pass the ASVAB and im in. my mechanic score is 122 outta 140 :] most score 50-60) -

okay we were talkin about old ru's but you sais if you wanna feel fast drive a honda. well the old hondas are slower then slugs so you must have meant the new hondas so i brought up the new subarus. and no the old civic would only do 200 mph with 1 driver thats it and aerodynamic mods up the yang. honda -1 subaru +1 -

take that back. my 79 brat smoked the tires through 3rd gear no problem. and got up to 95 quicker then a honda civic. basically my 1979 brat dominated. and im sure you havent seen the Subaru WRX STI 600TT... cause if you had then you wouldnt have said what you did. that subaru goes 200+ mph. so subarus arnt fast, not at all;) (the 600TT goes 200+ mph and its a flat 4 and still looks street worthy, the civic got up to 200 mph on salt flats but looked dumb as hell) SUBARU 4 EVER:headbang: -
how about i just get a wrecked or totaled WRX and put everything on my brat... will that work? id hate to modify everything
-
what suspention should i put on my 79 brat? im gonna be doin some rallyin, Ex: flyin at 50mph with big potholes in the gravel roads (they turn into dubbles after 30mph:lol: ) so what will be a good set up for this?

Subaru_Mechanic replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
My tranny is side mount... and the tickin is so bad it makes the engine shake. likes its a wrist pin. -
No Spark Still...
Subaru_Mechanic replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
CRAP! could it be because the engine was set up for an automatic? cause i put a clutch on it.... heavy flywheel.... (im talkin about the rpms not goin back down ofter i give it gas) -
anyone ever put or thought of putting a SVX engine in a 1980's subaru?

No Spark Still...
Subaru_Mechanic replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
heres the thing. one bolt for the intake manifold is broken in he head... so im workin with two bolts on the passenger side. (easy-out broke too! ) so its gotta stay that way until i get everything ready for instaling a new head and both head gaskets. i dont beleive the carb. is acting up. (what a pandoars box) -
well i have a EA82 engine and wanted to know if it would bolt right up to my 81 tranny in the brat? and another thing this engine was running really bad, tickin and limpin (shaking, the tickin was comin from the passenger side cam area) if i get everything new from the heads up would it run smooth again? the engine was runnin on the bad side or off cylinders 1 and 3 (ticking side) or should i do a complete rebuild and make the engine as powerful as possible. if so is there a website you would recomend?

No Spark Still...
Subaru_Mechanic replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
timing WAS off but it is fixed now. the only problem is the high idle... if i give it gas it revs up and wont go back down:confused: my guess is intake leak but i thought it had the oppisite affect, like bogging. its Carb'd not FI -

Subaru_Mechanic replied to HATCHY's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i think its SWEET! only thing i'd change is the grill. i'd put a subaru emblem on it instead of the dodge cross. i dont hate any subaru. "Subaru Is Life" -

Slow Soob!!! Possible carb issues?
Subaru_Mechanic replied to Zebisko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i forgot to mention that. those stupid things! theres so much that runs threw the carb already. they just clog up and create chaos. Tank flush and carb cleaner additive -

you should be able to ajust the main choke shaft to where it wont close all the way. you can ajust it to make it stay wide open all the time. if not unscrew the butterfly plate:) -

if you have a eletric fuel pump, check the ground. if not your float may be stickin. ajust the high speed jet, and advance your timing and you will hit 80+ a lil bit of modin and youll be mobin:lol: -
