well what you havent heard is if you or a friend disconnect's everything on the damaged side that bolts up or attached to the wheel you will then be able to take the parts to a junk yard or an auto parts store and they will tell you what the name for the parts are and you decide if you want somthing from one of the awesome subaru members or if you want parts that are brand new or from the junk yard. caboobaroo is really nice and will help (said it himself) i suggest that route as it is cheaper and he has offerd to install the parts himself. im not doubting you in any way, i encourage you to do the work youself, there arnt too many subaru girls out there... i would help if i could but ive got two projects and a ton of money to make + distance (your far away) i wish the best of luck to you and hope everything goes smoothly:) . P.S. if you are going to buy new parts get a quote and ask the guys if its over priced or not... (some auto parts stores are a rip off)

(1979) if you need help with the site or your brat you can hit me up. im on alot and work on subarus daily. but there are alot of other guys on here who are very good as well. if i dont know somthin your asking ill show you some one who does:) -kody -
Do your carb! jet it and get all the mods you can done to that thing. i have a EA71 with a carb (duh) and i took it apart and jetted it and WOW! the thing was mean. Ex :(sunny summer day) I was in enumclaw stopped waiting to cross on to 244th and there was a chevy 1500 low rider on the other side waitig to cross on to the road where i was. the guy sees me and revs his engine making his truck sink on one side like a muscle car does, so i do it back, i started with little revs and then the final high with the crackle at the peak...(bwam bwam bwaaaambaaaa) so out came this deep loud roar (cut pipe just under my seat) and the guy opens his eyes and starts laughing thinking its just loud. (traffic is passing this whole time) altho my (79 brat:cool: ) EA71 wouldnt shake my car it did make the front end lift up... well the traffic stops and he starts to rev up his big V8, before he even had the chance to move my well tuned quick responce EA71 reved up faster then lightning and i popped that clutch the front end lifted up high and barely started moving, before i got to 8 mph i was in secong gear revin 5k, i hit third gear at he finally started to pass me leaving that big truck breathin my victory smoke... there are more times but are lenghty stories. lol but yea i recomend the carb job. its will somke ur tires off:headbang:

86 EA82 Clutch swap
Subaru_Mechanic replied to Subaru_Mechanic's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i said that clear as crystal. i was working on a car with a bad engine, it has a 5 speed tranny (engine had a clutch), i bought a good engine that came out of a RU with a automatic tranny. i needed to know if the clutch off the bad engine would bolt up to the good engine. but i did get it done. for those of you who want to know. its just a few bolts and a leverage bar and its off. it bolts right up to an engine that has a automatic set-up. (there is a certain way the bolts go on. the pattern will throw you off, you will be able to get all but 2 bolts in unless you get the bolt pattern right... -
okay not only is it bobbed its a 84+ year modle (square body) if im correct you said 77 and 79 were shorter. thats not a 70's brat. im not tryin to be an @ss. ive just learned alot from the awesome subaru guys and want to use what ive learned. and please correct me if im wrong. id love to fix my mistakes and learn somthing new.

hahahaha! my brat is long!! and its a 79! that green brat in the picture above IS bobbed. yea there are londer ones but they dont get that short. the lenght from the rear bumper to the rear wheels is the same as the front (front bumper to front wheels) that one isnt equal... at all.. i have a bobbed 81 and its way shorter than my 79.... that one got me laughin:lol: thanks:-p

Cleaned EGR system, what a difference!!
Subaru_Mechanic replied to Frank B's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the EGR is on the back of the intake manifold. it looks like a little pump. it is bolted on with two 10 or 12 mm bolts.
