  1. For some stupid reason I was thinking that that those goofy canisters that hikers use to carry liquids would work. I was thinking the material they make them out of is called Nalgene:confused: i think you are on to something with flipping the windows:)
  2. O.k Good news bad news. I did get some photos. I dont really know what these parts you guys are talking about look like. I'm a rookie you know. You may be in luck on the trailing arms and brackets as it appears all the rear suspension stuff is there. On the LSD. The sicker on showed the last two numbers 00. Maybe the stamped infor in the photo will help. On the tube thingy. Photo would be extremely helpful. I don't even know where the flippin heater core is? Probably under dash on passenger side. Couldn't get that door open. Not overly excited about climbing in either as the XT is wobbling on top of another car. I did however find two more XT's though. I was strapped for time. One is an XT6. Let me know troops. Like I said, photos would be extremely helpful as well as detailed descriptions.
  3. MOST EXCELLENT. CURRENTLY DONT HAVE A SPARE. YES YOU ARE CORRECT ON THE METAL. SHOULD HAVE MENTIONED THAT. LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINUM. KUDOS. AM RAISN MY CUP IN HOMAGE AT THIS MOMENT:clap:
  4. i'M GOING TO TRY AND GET OUT THERE TODAY FOR SOME PHOTOS. I'LL DO MY BEST TO GET YOU GUYS SOME GOOD PHOTOS AND WE'LL GO FROM THERE.
  5. I Found This Thing In My Wagon. Anybody Know What This Thing Is? In Case It Is Something Critical, No Swaet As The Rig Isn't Currently Running.
  6. O.k Campers. If memory serves (which is suspect) it is up in the air so getting some of these parts might not me too bad. I think I will just bring the digital and snap some photos for ya'll. then you can tell me if it has what you need. Give a couple of days though. Pretty busy work schedule.
  7. Since I don't diddly about these, Moderator if you need to move this to a different location feel free. Cruising the bone yard yesterday looking for some wheels. i found a red XT turbo 4wd. memory sucks but pret near everything there except wheels. I didn't look under the hood. If'n you need some parts let me know and I can see if they are there.
  8. Am trying to remove the rear bumper on my 81 wagon. So far I snapped off 4 bolts:mad: Yup I penetrated the heck out of them. Even getting to them is a bearcat. Wrenches are just too short. Sockets aren't much better. Can't reach with a sawzall. Arrrgh. Pretty quick I'm taking out the grinder and zipping of the rounded tops. Anyone else had the same issues?
  9. http://stores.ebay.com/Arkaem-Motors You might want to check this outfit for a crank. He has had them listed before on Ebay. Good luck. I've never purchased anything from him but he does have rockers for sale.
  10. another one. Notice the angeled/beveld lens toward the top.
  11. Oooooo. Awesome post big D!! I am on hands and knees doing the obligatory bowing in worship. Pics coming soon.
  12. Thnks for the replies. I figured I would get a response from our brothers down unda on this one. thanks BobB. Yup wiring digram would be good. Luck would have it I DO have a Gen 2 Bull that I just picked up. I'll have to drill it though. Hey BobB, is there still a lens protector out there that works on these? Remember the lens is angled at the top.
  13. Sorry I didn't know the thing keeps your sent messages too. Should go Now D:headbang:
  14. I just picked up a set of round IPF Fog lights the other day. Cheap. They are 5 1/2" round. Chrome housings. Only one wire out of each bucket. The lens is yellow glass thaT oddly is slightly beveld at the top.:-\ The lens has markings that says HALOGEN (VERTICALLY) POWER (AT THE BOTTOM) AND IPF 90. tHE OLD DUFFER WHO SOLD EM TO ME SAID HE USED TO HAVE EM ON HIS 1970 VW BUG. aNY BODY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THESE THINGS?lIKE HOW OLD THEY ARE AND i ASSUME THE BRACKET BECOMES THE GROUND. I TOOK ONE APART AND I BELIEVE THE BULB IS A 55W. SHOULD I RUN A HEAVY DUTY HARNESS FOR THESE? i SUPOOSE i CAN POST A PIC. BUT SOMEONE TELL ME THE SIZE LIMIT ON PICS. i HAVE PRETTY GOOD DIGITAL AND USUALLY HAVE TO REDUCE THE QUALITY TO GET PICS TO TAKE.
  15. I asked a guy yesterday and he thought it may be a timing thing. Off a notch maybe:-\ Also, if it was a rod, wouldn't it Knock all the time?
  16. A guy in a little town a few miles for me has a (he thinks on the year) a 79 wagon 4wd manual tranny for sale. He says it runs but a little rough. I asked what that meant. He says it starts to knock when it warms up. Any thoughts on the cause for this? If it is decent shape, I may pick it up> Supposed to get pics tomorrow. Any way to isolate the knock or deduce the cause? :-\
  17. i HAVEN'T USED IT YET IN MY SOOB BUT I HAVE USED THE STUFF MADE BY LUCAS FOR THE FUEL SYSTEM. HOLY SMOKES DID IT CLEAN STUFF OUT. BE PREPARED TO CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER.
  18. hey campers. Just a thought. The military has a program called P.O.L. This isn't my area of expertise. That short for petroleum Oil Lubrication(or cant). They actually do analysis on the these fluids. Maybe a "full-timer" or fellow Minuteman could shed some light on this issue that may help.
  19. I might consider replacing the lines if I could find some to replace them with. I remember peeking under the carpet when you flip down the back seat. I think the lines are right there. I've got time on this project as it is too cold up here to do it now and I don't have a heated garage. Besides the garage is housing my Opel GT.
  20. O.k sounds a this one's gonna be a bear. My main concern was how to remove the lines from the tank and also the filler neck. On the worst job ever... I think diggin post holes by hand with the mother of all Cuervo hangovers probbly took the cake:drunk:
  21. My line to my fuel filter is plugged. The car sat for years. I dumped the liquid from the fuel filter and it was a bright yellow varnish. If the line is plugged up, I'm thinking there is crap in the tank too. So, I'll probably have to get it cleaned. I've never dropped a fuel tank and am looking for some assitance on the how to. I'm sure it isn't rocket science but I'm always for for assistance from anyone who has done this. It's an 81 Gl Wagon 4wd 1.8 Mucho appreciato!!!
  22. nice site for evaluating oil filters. Photos too. http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilterstudy.html
