  1. What part of wa is it in? I know if its in the west side, they sometimes go for more in that condition, but on the east side, sometimes go for less. Thats what ive found. I think that last person is right on for price. To get a new engine installed (reman installed from another shop) will run the average Jo about $4000. If they want $4000 for the car and it cost $4000 for a engine then that would bring the cost to $8000 and KBB might only be like $6000. so i would offer $1500 to $2000 depending on condition. sorry for the confusion
  2. where are you located? Would you be willing to sell the car as it is?
  3. WOW! Im actualy shocked! Did your car come in as a wrecked car and you went in to get a rebuilt title?
  4. If it was hit, i would rate it as being damaged with some dents and body work needed.
  5. Without looking at one i cant say for sure, but i think there are just like 8 white clips that hold it on. Your talking about the plastic pannel on the rear quarter that s like 1 foot by 2 feet. If your talking about the little one that is like 8 inches by 6 inches or something like that, then it has just clips, but the plastic breaks easly on that so be carfull. this is just off of memory so you might double check with someone else.
  6. water wouldent harm your engine as long as the outside temp is ok. It i guess could harm it if the car gets hotter then something like 250 degrees. If you drive it watch it like a hawk. They do still sell the flush kits, but in my opinion they arnt that effective. I would just pull the bottom radiator hose and let it drain. There is i think a little plug on the pass side of the car on the radiator, but i dont think it drains that fast.
  7. :-\ not a good thing with subarus with getting hot. If it blew cold air and was getting hot, it proubably has a pluged thermostat or a bad water pump. First thing i would do is add coolant to the radiator and add coolant to the resivor to the cold mark. THey both need fluid in them. When was the last time you checked the temp specs on the coolant? Change in temp outside could cause these problems, but proubably not the loss of water. Check the oil level and make sure it isent filling up highter with water. It is very posable that you have a small coolant leak and it never caused problems untell it just got below that level where it causes problems. (sounds wered but ive noticed that it can get low but there is a point where it just hits). Once filled with coolant, check the temp. if it stays the same, start looking for leaks. If it goes up again...... have fun. THe thermostat is right under the water pump and only has 2 bolts that hold it in. CHange that and all of the coolant and try it again. If that dosent fix it, consider doing a timming belt and water pump. (when was the last time you changed your timming belt?) To change the water pump you have to remove the timming belt and if you remove the timming belt, you might as well replace it. It is possable you have a bad sensor and you can change it to see if it makes any difference. THe sensor is right under the egr valve on the pass side on the little water duct above the block itself. these are just the steps i would take to fix the problem.
  8. LOL i kinda think that is funny. I dont know maby im wrong, but ive worke with air bags every day and lots of people who rebluild wrecked cars with blown air bags. The air bag system consist of air bags, air bag control module, and a few sensors depending on the type of car and what year it is. THe way the washington state patrol inspects the air bag system if a vehicle is wrecked and rebuilt is they turn the car on. If the air bag light comes on first when starting and shuts off right away, then it has a good air bag system. Thats it! LIke i said maby they like to go through all the wires and stuff to make sure none have come loose, but if something was wrong your air bag light would come on and stay on. or the light wouldent come on at all ever.
  9. It is proubably the tires like they said. If it is pulling it could be whats called a radial pull. This is that the tire is coming apart and causing it to pull. TO find if this is the problem. drive the car. if it pulls to the right, rotate just the front 2 tires left to right so the left front will be on the right front and the right front will be on the left front. if it pulls the other way then it is a radial pull and the tires are bad. If it pulls the same way, you have other problems.
  10. Un fortunatly with subaru most of the time with somethign like that, the piston has proubably ben the valves if not more, but there are some sucess stories about it not doing any damage or just bendign the valves. Im assuming it has to do with the rpms at the time of damage. Its hard to say what happoned, but i think you are rignt about it not being the shop. I dont think it has happoned, but has anything hit the car at all? other cars? Rocks? Was it freezign temps outside? Your options now are to rebuild yoru current engine or do a engine swap. If you do a engine swap you can do another dohc engine ( lots of money and hard to find)!!! or do a 2.5 sohc engine (cheeper and easier to find but still have problems ) Or do a older 1.8l (easier to find, cheeper, not as much power, 10 times better engine) but you will have to do a little more work to get it in your car, but if you plan on keeping the car, consider it. thats just my 2 cents
  11. im not sure which all will be a direct bolt on, but i know with your seats you currently have, there are 4 bolts that bolt the tracks to your floor, and there are 4 bolts that bolt the track to your seat itself. This way the seat unbolts from the tracks so you have more options for seats, while using yoru old tracks
  12. I work at a junk yard so it was a little easy for me to come up with them, but i know lots of yards (like us) Save almost all subaru engine parts due to the fact that if the car is hit in the front, it almost always takes out the cover or a valve cover if not worse. For that reason if those parts are good but the engine makes noise, we will save the good parts for a good engien with bad covers. keep looking because not all save that stuff.
  13. im sorry, ive only posted like 10 times on this site. How do i change it?
  14. I have lots of owners manuals, (lots of subarus) for sale on my ebay store. Im not posting this to sell them and make money, but to give a chance to possabley get a manual for your subaru without paying a dealer price. http://stores.ebay.com/onestoppartshop
