Dave, can you also check the range on legacy frive shafts? I ahve a 92, it looks like the 96's will fit too. can you confirm (or deny) How are you doing anyway? How was the snow? I found a '93 legacy in a yard with little rust, and got only one axcel. It has been rebuilt once and needs boots, and I also got a caliper all for pretty cheap. I couldn't get the roll pins out of the 96 because of a lacking of tools and extensions, and winter green penatrating oil. And I don't have a blow torch. (we need a smily face with gogles and a blow torch)

unfortunately I am in hte UK, and in hte north (newcastle) and GOOD parts stores are in short supply. Subes are rare here. which is a bummer. I was going to get axels and rebuild them myself with new boots, then use mine as cores for a new pair when I need them And have the time and money to replace them

woops its a 92 2.2 legacy 5speed 4x4 (not that it matters too much). hte bolt does look to be about the same as my ea81t (that was the wrx want to be. I used to be on the older gen site. I built a fulltime5 speed pushrod turbo dl wagon taht would destroy everything off the line in low range for the first 5o feet) I measured the bolt before I left and you are right. my favorite trick was to put the breaker bar between the ground and the skid plate and put the socket on the nut and .......................... turn the key. hte starter has way more torque than my little arms. check rotation directionfirst!!!! anyway, thanks or the advice. I ahve no ac, so it looks to be a peice of cake. I also have no money and because it looks easy, I will skip the water pump and seals for now (well, maybe i will do the crank seal) and do them wehn I ahve more cash. I also need to do front drive shafts and my y pipe is leaking, so a little at a time.

I have no tools and want to spend as little as possible. I am an experienced mechanic. Can you tell me the sizes of the crank pully bolt? I am assuming 10, 12, 14 17 and 19 for everything else. Am I going to need a balancer puller to get off the pully? Is it standard opperating proceedure to do teh water pump at teh same time as the timing belt?

actually dave, I have no itnentiuons of messing with this one. its a 2.2 legacyt, so it can ctually get out of its own way. and it is already fuel ink\jected so I don't have to do that either. it is a sube though, so the y pipe needs welding and the drive sahfts are ****ed.

gday! thanks for the reply. I gave up on the ratty rusty justy and just slapped 500 gbp (sterling) on a 92 legacy sedan 2.0 injected, 4x4, abs and power stearing. needs a t-belt, axel boots and some cranc seals seals and a clutch adjustment. So, I guess I am moving to the newer generation section

Hey fellas! any ideas on the justy tranny? Like I said, the dude who owns it said the clutch brushes go bad, but I ahve heard bad things on other sites about it just failing. could it be the brushes and nothing else? PS is it half a sux six banger? the valve covers look like regualr sube issue ea82

it might be the sensor that hooks to the dash aqnd lits up at 2 lbs with the green "turbo" lite. give a picture and I can ID it
-
pardon me , but bump!

well, dave, thats kind of what I was thinking. I was looking for more techy help though. I just checked out the car(s) and the owner says that the brushes on hte electromagnetic cluth are what take them out. However, this thing has quits a bit of rear wheel arch rust. there is antoehr one I am checking out that has much less rust ans is a 5 speed, but it is not white and it does not have a sun roof and is only a two door hatch. it looks like the motor is half a 6 cylinder. is that right? And thaks DAve! how is the skiiing??? God I miss it, and I miss the beasstie, and I am glad dave got to see it! that was a fun FAST car with GREAT breaks. I even scared myself with it!

Some of you may rememebr me as the guy that put the injected turbo motor and fulltime 5speed in an old ea81 dl. well, I am sick of hoofing it here in england, and I ahve tracked down an interestind deal on three justies for 400 pounds. the nice one is ECVT tranny, then next one is a ratty bod with a 5 speed, and the third turd is parts only. dude says the ECVT is fresh rebuild, but I am hearing bad things, and I ahve abad case of lead foot. I don't have any tools here so a tranny swap might be an option later, but certainyl not right away. just how crappy is the ECVT and (I am not even going to ask how hard the swap is because thats my speciality) how good is the 5speed? shout out to shansf and brian and turbosoob

Help me figure out this Odd Cooling Issue
WRX1AB replied to syphon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
any leak in the coolant will not only allow coolant out, but air in upon cooling. any air in the system can get re trapped. that will cause all your problems. My ea81 t was experiencing the same problems, unfortunately I never found the leak, but shansf has it now, and I bet its in teh intake manifold -
I had a 2300 mustang3 turbo first generation (not svo). turbo sucked through the carb, was jetted way too lean form factory. that carb is really easy to rebuild and has very few moving parts. Also, whilst at a pull it your self yard, yank the jets out of a bunch of different fordsds, (trucks, pintos, mustangs, capris) and you have an instant jet kit for tuning. the kit we swiped made overboost possible and for a few miles, we were killing 302's and svo's. and we were OK with that.
