rwd conversion q
Now, would it be possible to change it to rear drive based somehow? I'm willing to bet not, but if it were possible, that would be pretty sweet.

EA81 timing?
Well, as for the spark being before TDC, it takes time for the ignited flame to get to the piston, so it isn't actually pushing on the piston until the end of its stroke. Also, with the faster the engine going, it takes less and less time for the piston to go through a stroke, thus the timing changes, as the flame still takes just as long to burn. I hope that made some sense.

Would I be able to get a white epoxy? Would it look good? What is a good brand, and where to buy?

Durable wheel paint
Well, the Rust-Oleum paint job on my rims is coming off already(decided to do some not-to-legal mudding) and I wanted a very durable, white, wheel paint to repaint them with. Suggestions?

cat is shot..solutions?
I know both my '84 Soobs(EA-81 4sp 4wd Hatch and feedback-carbed 3sp 2wd Ea-81) have the cat and y as one piece.

Pics o' my car
As far as I can tell, it is only the polished metal on the bottom of the car. It is pretty neat, I should get some pictures in the light of it.

Pics o' my car
I'm sure it was just one of the weird things Subaru made over the years. I've asked vaguely around here, and none were the wiser, so, I couldn't really tell ya'. I would like to know more about it, if anyone else knows anything about it.

Pics o' my car
I've been workin' on it, those pics are from several months ago. You should see it with the clean, repainted wheels.

Well, I finally got to putting my pictures on the internet. http://s167.photobucket.com/albums/u122/Zebisko/ Those are from earlier this year, I have more recently painted the wheels, and they look pretty nice.

How do you install a performance coil on there, electrically? I hear you have to use resistors and stuff?

Exhaust questions
Hello, I am rebuilding my exhaust, and was wondering, are cats directional? I wanted to get this; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CATALYTIC-CAT-CONVERTER-CARTEX-2-5-x-2-x-13-DUAL_W0QQitemZ260096364173QQcategoryZ33629QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Also, what is the diameter of the exhaust manifold for an EA81? Thanks!

Checked codes
Well, first, the ECS light comes on after driving a while, say, 15 minutes. Also, I am not sure if I did it correctly, I just plugged in the two green connectors near the computer, don't know if there is anything else I need to do. It also tends to bog out a bit when you give it throttle. Don't have a clue what that means. Also, there is a leak from one of the exhaust manifold gaskets, could something be caused by that? Also, yes, it is a feedback carb.

Checked codes
I checked the codes on the coupe, and got code 14. I looked it up at http://www.troublecodes.net/Subaru/ and it said "Duty solenoid or circuit". Now, what the hay-al is that!? P.S. Thanks in advance! P.S.S. 1984 EA81 coupe

The Hyperbolic ER27 Twin Turbo Build
I'm quite anxious in seeing how this turns out!

subaru convertible
http://www.cars101.com/subaru/subaru_history.html This is a site that outlines the history of Subaru, and it has a picture of an EA81 turbo Convertible. I think it is neat!

Seafoam=wonderful!
Well, I just Seafoamed the Hatch, and let me tell you, it helped! Before I used to not have throttle response anytime, but especially below 2000 RPMs. It now pretends to have pick-up! So far, I give Seafoam three points!

EA-81 Backfire
UPDATE: Today, I decided it would be a good idea to take off the rest of my exhaust. Quite loud:burnout:. The car still burbled and burped a bit, but the REALLY bad backfire is gone now. I'm still a bit confused on that one. But I examined my pipe, and what I thought was just a sheered cat-to-rear pipe section, turned out there was a small hole just in front of the cat on one side, and a nice old crack on the other. Seems a potential problem...
-
Well, there's your problem...
Well, I've never personally had plugs that bad, but, yeah, that'll do it.

EA-81 Backfire
I thought it was the filters too, but I replaced them, and it's still messed up. I don't want to buy a new cat, only for it to be blown apart:-\. Thanks, though.

EA-81 Backfire
On the hatch, there appears to be a backfire, which only happens when I let off the gas completely. My cat is definately bad, but I'm thinking there is a problem with the carburetor. If I drive it "spritidly" for long enough(about a minute) the engine will flood out and die on me. Timing is good, I believe (just checked, but I could be dumb:rolleyes:). Any ideas?

Sigh...Low oil pressure, AGAIN
Well, at the moment I am using 10w30, I do think the sender could be bad, as when I had the old pump in there, it would register below 0 PSI. The thing is, I had 24PSI or higher for about a week, and then I started noticing it was zero at idle. By the way, Milemaker, very smart thinking, I definately did not have the mental capacity to realize that I have two EA81s, . I definately am quite dumb:rolleyes: . Thanks, I shall try that when I am not lazy...

Sigh...Low oil pressure, AGAIN
I just replaced my oil pump a week ago. When it was first on it, it was producing no less than 24 PSI. Now, it registers zero hot idle-1000RPM(mine idles at the mark, which is at about 300RPM I'd hazard to guess). Any possible ideas? Thanks in advance.
