Car speakers are too big!!
Im no speaker expert, but I have read that the 4 ohm, 8 ohm mix will eventually damage the equipment. I believe its the head unit (4ohm) that gets the worst of it.

Which Weber Is This?
This is the only Pic available. Can someone tell me if this may work on my ea81 with the adapter plate, of course. The ad says "Weber 32/36 electric choke" I called and talked to the guy, but he didnt know anything else about it. $50, what do you think? Thanks. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1305/1281212321_6d128d0842.jpg?v=0

Buying A Lift Today.
About that Steering Knuckle Extension. It is 10" long, exactly. I don't currently have power steering, but am certainly going to get it. What would a Power Steering knuckle look like? Maybe just shorter? I could maybe order one from AA. I have a mig so maybe I can just cut or weld this one? What do you guys think? Thanks.

Flywheel removal
I found the rear main seal at Schucks. $17....I just stuck the blade of a flattip screwdriver into the rubber, inner, soft portion of the seal, closest to the crank, then gingerly worked the blade in and up behind the outer (hard) portion of the seal then used the crank for leverage and it popped right out. Worked very slick and never jepordized the seal surface of the crank. (Do not use screws or anything like that to drill into the seal)

Buying A Lift Today.
Well, Here's what I got. It looks good to me. The deal went down perfectly. I met Sean, (a member here) at Snoqualmie Pass and made the xchange. Great guy. He packed the kit on his Motorbike and drove up from Wenachee. (Thanks Dude,You Rock) I left there and headed to Renton to meet the guy who is currently advertising Puegoet wheels on Seattle Craigslist. He was a no-show. Whatever???? So, I need wheels! I may just go ahead with plan A and drill my hubs. The directions are pretty skimpy but alot of it looks self expanitory. We'll See.

Buying A Lift Today.
I'm meeting a guy this afternoon to look at a Allied Armament, Standard Lift Kit for the EA81. Apparently he bought it a couple years ago and never installed it. I found this deal on Craigslist and was wondering if I could get some ideas as to what I should look for. Im mostly concerned about installation instructions, which he says are included, but vague at best. Also, are these kits usually sold complete from AA or, might this be a partial kit, how will I know? Any ideas appreciated..

What's the biggest tire i can put on the Stock 13" steely?
It seems that tires for a 13 inch rim are scarce. I called a few local tire dealers and at least two of them didn't even carry a 13 and didn't even offer to order them for me. I found a couple online but the tread patterns were pretty much just for pavement.

First Roadtrip W/the Wagon..
I thought You might like to see a few pic's of our first roadtrip with the '80 wagon I have been working on. Really I'm just showing off this sweet, bone stock GL (except for the engine and trans)that sits in the garage while my Wifes new Yukon sits outside in the driveway.hahahaha Thats St. Helens in #3 and #4. There is actually smoke coming out of her, but you cant see it clearly in the Pic. This angle shows the Crater very clearly. Were kinda on Rainer so I couldn't take a Pic of it. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/roadtrip1.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/roadtrip2.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/roadtrip3.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/roadtrip4.jpg

Head gasket nightmare
I gotta tell you, I dont drive anything I cant work on/fix myself. Exactly for the reasons your talking about here. Not to say all mechanics are shady 'cause I know of a few Good and Honest ones, but like you said, "I dont want to get into that Game", ever. My wife drives a new gmc something or rather and only the dealer garage ever touches it. I feel for you man. Maybe your right, cut your losses and move on.

Head gasket nightmare
I agree with cobcob. Take it back and ask that they fix it right. Sounds like it cant get any worse.

My First Snag..EA81 d/r 4speed Into '80 wag.
I installed the dist. and carb off the ea71 onto the "new" ea81 so as to simplify the vac and elec. hookup. Im thinking you can use any distributor from any EA engine to work with your ea71. But yeah, I have the intake too. Come and get it, Man.

Dont ever try to tune your engine with a quater tank of 3 yr old gas. Man, I limped her down to Chevron, filled her up and by the time I got home, she was my daily driver. Fresh Gas Rocks. This car runs Great.

Its yours, free. Come get it. Its even got a s/r 4 speed attached to it. It needs a head gasket at the very least.

Well, I figured it out. Actually there wasn't really anything to figure out. I just needed to finish hooking up the altenator. There is a white, two prong plug coming from the harness that needs to be pushed into the back of the altenator. I seen it earlier, but disregarded it. It fixed alot of things. Now that I have it idleing, it really runs kinda crappy. I probably have a few vac leaks.

I jumperd the fuel pump straight from the battery again with everything hooked up and started the car and drove her for about 3 miles.. Runs great and as far as I can tell the d/r 4 speed works fine. I need to figure out the fuel pump issue. It has something to do with the charging system for sure. My battery lite on my dash board is on and I havent checked but I bet the alt is not charging.

BTW, The fuel pump is mounted on the firewall, drivers side, under the wiper motor.Thanks.

My First Snag..EA81 d/r 4speed Into '80 wag.
I actually got the engine to run, but only by pouring fuel into the carb. For some reason the fuel pump isnt delivering any fuel. I Jumpered it from a ground and the pos. side of the battery and it sputterd to life. I checked the wires coming from the harness into the pump and can find no power. I jumpered it whilethe fuel line was connected to the carb and started the car and it ran at hight idle for a few seconds then died. Like it flooded. Im wondering if the fuel pump runs all the time or is there a regulator that turns it on only when needed? Any ideas???Thanks,Mark

My First Snag..EA81 d/r 4speed Into '80 wag.
I missed this somehow. And yes, it looks like the hitachi from the ea71 will bolt right onto it and then I can mount it all onto my ea81. Or, maybe the carb thats on there now will be more compatible than the carter/weber. I have read a few threads about removing emissions equipment and keeping the stock hitachi carb. Seems its very doable. For the most part, remove or plug everything except vac. advance, brake booster vac and heater ducts vac.

My First Snag..EA81 d/r 4speed Into '80 wag.
I pretty much have everything installed except the intake manifold. I thought i might be able to, in order to solve some of my connecto problems, use the old ea71 intake and carb on the new ea81 motor, but as most of you know, that aint gonna work. So, my next thought was to just switch carbs, but they mount up diffrently. I'm kinda stuck. Can i eliminate some of this emissons stuff? The first pic is of the original ea71 carb. The second one is of the ea81 carb. Says carter/weber on it. The last two pics are of things connected to my engine that I would really like to get rid of. Any ideas appreciated...Thanks. http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/ea71.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/ea81.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/em1.jpg http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u111/shedmr/em2.jpg
