Tears came to my eyes this morning....
well hopefully I can get her another Brat that is acutally down her direction. I heard it needs a tranny but hey, she still has the drivetrain from her old Brat. *sigh* I talked to her last night and she said she was crying over it. Yeah I would too!!! Oh and its nice to know that the tailights are still good;)

Fluid amounts? We need a list...
So I was about to go out and fill my RX tranny up with gear oil and I hopped on here to see if I could find a right amount for the tranny without guessing which I HATE! I can't really find anything and there's kind of a amount in the USRM in a tranny fluid refill deal. I had an idea of why don't we have people with FSMs give out how much fluid something takes (ie cooling system, engine oil with and without filter change, tranny fluid both manual and automatic, rearends, etc.) We can then compile it into the USRM and would be useful to a lot of other people as well. So, how much gear oil does my 87.5 manual FT4wd d/r 5-speed RX tranny take?

gearing to 4.11 questions
My RX had a 4EAT and it was a 3.70 gearing.... So what is this about gen 1 Brats with s/r 4-speeds having 4.11 gearing? Very interested, me didn't know this, even though I own a updated gen 1 FSM... Then what about my '79 4wd wagon? Is it 4.11 as well? I looked at it awhile ago and I remember it having a 3.90 tag on the rearend.

Where do you mount your aftermarket electronics?
I mount mine right here... Its a very nice spot for both my GReddy Profec B-Spec II Electronic boost controller and my GReddy Turbo Timer. I can't wait to get it in the car which will be tomorrow. Who else mounts what, where?

Custom steering wheels - Post your pic!
Here's a pic of the steering wheel and my new B&M T-handle shift knob. Ther interior is kinda torn apart since I have been swapping the instrument clusters but hey, you get the idea:D

Custom steering wheels - Post your pic!
Use an old EA82 steering wheel and cut the hub out and turn it down on the lathe so its round and then line up the steering wheel and measure where you want to drill the holes for it to bolt to, tap the holes and BLAM, an adapter:D

front mount intercooler progress. I/C piping.(DUW)
Kevin, check out QikRXturbo here on the board. He's from down under and he's got a sweet FMIC setup and he has 286HP EA82 as well in his car. Pretty damn sweet if you ask me:D

Custom steering wheels - Post your pic!
ARG! I need to get some new interior shots of my RX. I got a custom steering wheel and a B&M shift handle on the shifter since I finished putting the manual tranny in. I'll post some pics when I get a couple later today I hope:D

Interior Restoration
what year/make/model is the car? Your best bet would be to use some sort of interior die/stain to make it all one color again since it being sun faded, it won't be able to be cleaned off. Try an autoparts store for the die, they should have a small selection of colors to choose from.

RX dash cluster differences and TCU location, I need some help!

RX dash cluster differences and TCU location, I need some help!
ok so my RX was an automatic (4EAT) and I've converted it to a manual (FT4wd d/r 5-speed) BUT I have an issue with the dash clusters being different. The cluster I pulled out (4EAT) on the top has 2 connections, each of them being a 13 pin connector. The cluster I replaced it with (FT4wd) has 2 connectors on the top as well BUT one is a 13 pin connector and the other being a 7 pin connector, which is totally different size compared to the cluster I pulled out (4EAT). What does this connector hold? My guess is its for the "4wd" lights and the "LOW" light in the cluster. So the connector, where does it go to? Where does the connector on the 4EAT cluster go to? It totally screwed me up when I went to put everything together with the new cluster..... Oh and another question, where is the TCU located on my RX?

from hero to zero, its rebirth is coming
neither will my RX... but oh wait! My RX was never on a trailer at WCSS... I can't wait till I roll up in my RX. People will give me funny looks, mwahahaha. I also found a guy near Denver that car swap my 3.70 front diff for a 3.90 front diff. Then I'll I need to do is pull the rear diff from a parts wagon and put together my 3.90 LSD. Mmmmm sideways action! Hope you get that pi... I mean beautiful wagon on the road again soon Brad!

Woo buddy, doin the swap! (5-speed)
so how do I hook it up now? Since I'm doing the complete swap, what will plug into that space. My guess is its for the "4wd" lights and the "LOW" light.... anything else it could be for?
-
Woo buddy, doin the swap! (5-speed)
Ok SO, I just installed my instument cluster into my car BUT I ran into a problem. Here's the deal, the cluster is from a 87.5 RX I think and my RX is an '89. On the top of the cluster on the front, there's two connections. On my '89 cluster, there's two 13 pin connectors whereas the '87.5 cluster has a 13 pic connector and a 7 pin connector. Why is this like this? Its the only thing holding me up on my cluster swap. If someone can direct me into the eyes of knowledge, I need it. I'm at a loss...... HELP!!!

Super Pro Bushing Listing....HERE!
so will these fit XT6s as well for us who have a five lug conversion done?
-
Woo buddy, doin the swap! (5-speed)
Well I've pulled the cluster before but I was too tired to do it yesterday so I'll probably do it today before I go to bed I need to find the TCU... Hmm.... I got some flowers I guess I could give to my neutral saftey switch instead of give them to my g/f, THAT would go over real well:rolleyes: I'm planning on speding some time putting the pedal cluster in but I wasn't sure how hard it was to do so since the gen 1's seem pretty easy. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the difflock/reverse lights/4wd indicators?

Back yard ghetto cylinder head resurface
Like using a 3 ton come along, 2 2x4s and the rafters in the garage as a cherry picker... or using the same setup to help install a transmission when working by ones self... I LIKE!

Clutch way too stiff!
or if you do those and still notice its stiff, be warned I had this problem on a friends '87 GL turbowagon. It was stiff when he got it but we thought nothing of it. Then one day while I was driving it, it started loosing the clutch like it didn't want to disengage so I tried to adjust it. Worked for about 2 miles when it started grinding again. Turned out the clutch fork pivot hadn't been greased when the clutch was done so it ended up fracturing and thus not wanting to disengage the clutch. Just another thing to check for. All you have to do is take a flashlight and peeke down the boot around the clutch fork and see if it has any fractures in it.
