head porting!
I can add to this library, I cut some EA82T heads up before I ported mine: After looking into the Vortex Hi-Rise intake (would love to cut one of those up too) I Decided to cut a set of Gen2 heads 'in half' to get a clue as to where the weak parts were and where they can be improved, port flow wise...here are the photos: They really do have quite extensive cooling around the IN ports, if only the EXH/IN ports were seperated like these: (This photo also shows the area behind where the 'triangle' shaped water jacket in the block meets the head, they can be drilled here and allow coolant flow directly into the head) Really not much cooling down the bottom end of these heads at all, water jackets don't extend past the siamese exhaust merge: This one shows the bulge where the 'D' section meets the 'O' section:

Custom built fast idle valve
I think it will depend a little on what size engine the one you choose is meant for. The factory one on my ea82 cold idles at 1600 and they are adjustable to an extent by the nut on the side. Perhaps one from a Nissan 3L would be a good match, they are easier to adjust slower than faster...Airtex and wells make aftermarket ones too, may be a good option to try...

Plastic parts made
how about UV stability?

Plastic parts made
so, this is a machine also known as a 'plastic printer' isnt it? Are the 'printed' parts very durable, like comparable to say injection moulded parts?

Plastic parts made
what are the size limitations be on that? dash surrounds for RHD subaru XT coupes would be very popular over here...

Custom built fast idle valve
Its not a Bosch, its JECS as stated in my above post, but yes, the bosch item fitted to other makes appears similar...

Custom built fast idle valve
...actually, I do! this is the OE valve on 1987+ Subaru XT's, made by Jecs. Nissans of the same era have a very similar valve, made by Bosch, which MAY work the same! let us know if you find a supplier of new ones (and if it works in your application of course;))...

Custom built fast idle valve
Ah OK, I assumed, since that valve had a pintel it was a 'duty solenoid' or 'PWM' type thing - well there you go! The EA82 one has two 1/4" mounting holes on a flat foot at the bottom, and two hose barbs, 1/2" I think, 1 in 1 out with a 2 pin bosch type EFI plug socket. pretty simple design really, could be mounted anywhere, but engine heat helps them close faster than just the electric coil. Im sure someone has a picture of one removed...

Custom built fast idle valve
Why dont you use a standard EA82 Cold Idle valve from a 1987+ (hi-rise intake)XT? They see 12Vdc at all times from the fuel pump relay. They are not a duty-solenoid or stepper motor type valve, 2 wires, 1+, 1-. They work with a coil that heats up a bimetal strip and moves a shutter, slowly closing the passage so the rpm's slow as the engine heats up. They are also adjustable so you will be able to set (within reason)the cold idle speed to how you want. They look like a one-sided dumbell, just make sure you get a good one, as when they age, they collapse to one side and the shutter moves out of its operating aperture. Old, hard rubber hoses can bend the alloy casing too, jamming the shutter plate. If you find a source for new ones, please let us know here. Alternatively, you could use this, which looks like a great solution and I think it suits a PWM valve : General purpose IAC valve

peugeot wheels on a 2wd XT?
Just wondering if anyone has had 15" 505 alloy peugeot wheels on a 2wd XT? Im asking because I had one of the OE wheels off mine today so I sat one of the 15" peugeot wheels I have on to see how they look. They look good, but I am concerned about the offset. The measured difference of wheel mounting surface to outside tyre wall between the two types of wheels is around 35mm, 35mm more sticky-outy on the peugeots, which I reckon will foul the guards. The reason I ask about 2wd XT's is that I reckon if they go on them, they will go on the 4wd's and mine which is somewhere in the middle of the 2 ride heights. Were talking 195-50/15 tyres here too guys I dont know if the split-spoke and flat-spokes are different, I have the flat spokes. thanks.

Lowering the 89 XT
If you do get some 2wd XT front struts, please make a note of the part numbers before you fit them. I've had trouble finding them...

peugeot wheel center bore
Sorry man, see the 4 ribs between the disc bolts, they are what centers the wheel, without them you get hardcore vibrations. I just want to find out about the peugeot sizing as Im guessing they are different surely...
-
peugeot wheel center bore
'center bore locator' and yeah they are hub centric, center of the mag fits snug on the center of the hub, maybe with non-genuine wheels they dont, but the subie ones certainly do...

peugeot wheel center bore
Just wondering what the difference is between the subie wheels and peugeot wheels and if there is a ready made CBL ring the right size? thanks.

copper head gaskets?

copper head gaskets?
Just wondering if anyone has used copper head gaskets on the EA's? with no one making metal head gaskets, maybe getting some copper ones made may be an option... I have never used them before and I'd be interested in getting some feedback...

EA82T coolant hose part numbers?
I have a parts catalogue, I can look them up for you if you like, is it the Hi-rise manifold, or the standard?
