thanx for the info the legacy has 180 on the clock the only thing i wasn't sure about was weither the axle would fit into the older trans and the drive line issues but adapter plates and new holes in floor don't bother me but wiring does and thats why i asked the question

what do u guys think i should do i have a 88 GL wagon with 300 thousand miles on it runs great still and i just bought a 94 legacy wagon with the 2.2 in it and a bad trans for 400 bucks should or could i put the trans out of my 88 with the low rang in it or would it be easier to put the 2.2 in the GL bolth cars are in good shape i am looking to make an off road beast so i can show up the jeeps in moab .
