  1. What a happy solution! Good for you. How did you figure out which ones were crossed?
  2. So Subaru says it can (or should) be done in 7 hours. But if I, the customer, am paying for it it takes 12 hours. Quite a revelation. Little wonder they're called stealerships.

  4. Oh man, I feel so bad for you. Now to try to figure out the "why?" Could the tensioner have failed? Is it the old style or the new one? Hang in there--you'll get it sorted out.
  5. MMO is "Marvel Mystery Oil." Generally it acts as a cleaner/solvent, can be especially helpful in small oil passages. I know it stopped a valve tick in my sons '92 Legacy recently. But you don't want to use it in your oil constantly--maybe run it with some cheaper oil for a day or two to flush the system, then drain and fill with your good stuff. Hopefully davebugs and others will chime in with their thoughts. Personally I'd see no problem going with synthetic after that. Good luck. Can't wait to hear a good report when you fire her up!

  7. Call Jason at 866-528-5282, he's Parts Manager at Mike Scarff Subaru in Auburn WA. Usually has best prices for OEM . . . mention USMB. Another approach is to find an auto electric shop in your area and get a rebuilt alt. I've had excellent results doing this with electricals. Ask an indy shop or gas station mechanic for recommendations--there's usually one well thought of shop around.
  8. Ooops, sorry--my mind must have been out of gear! I meant LEFT (driver's side) camshaft support, directly behind the cam pulley. It is the same o-ring as used in the right rear cam.   10. And I think the engine assumes that if one cam is in synch the other one better be too! Yeah, all it needs is one.
  11. You don't line them up with the arrows on the pulley.

  13. While you're that far into it, might as well replace the matching O-ring in the right front camshaft support too.

  15. Always helps to provide more information--how many miles on the car? History? How well has it been maintained by you or previous owner? New fuel filter might help a lot. New plugs and wires might be needed. Hard to tell without knowing more about the car.

  17. 'Scuse me but I got lost after this post. Did you get the crank pulley bolt tightened?
  18. Try the Kartboys and the TiC bushings--I think you'll get a more pleasant feel from your shifter. Since your car is so new your linkage bushings should still be okay. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
