  1. That's F**KED UP. and extremely sad, as i rider this is a horrible thing to hear, as a human being extremely upsetting.
  2. that's the second convertible that I'm aware of in florida. aren't the convertibles sedans that were modified by a dealer in california? and yes, no salt no snow. and no seasons just hot and cold. lol
  3. forester stuffffsss... and oil thing, are you checking it at different inclines or flat surfaces
  4. I would think the contents of the bag would be required for such an invention.
  5. had to do this to an old XT of mine, Gary is correct a longer bolt will grab but it wasnt too long there after I was right back at it. might as well get it done once. the helicoil seemed to work well and since the car is still going today I'd say you wont have any issues with it. except its a real PITA if you don't remove anything out of the way like i did.:-\
  6. Dude that 6 looks clean. Keep it alive. But if you must im sure someone will by the dash trim and column trim in a heartbeat
  7. How did you manage to get negative camber on an ea82??
  8. See I have good ideas sometimes. Partnumbers will be handy too. That way you walk in and say I need ****** instead of "I need *** for an ea82" and the guy just stare at you like they do here. I have a complete set of 86 FSMs so as long as the numbers didn't change over the years I can assist with that.
  9. Well perhaps a sticky of "Stuff you should buy OEM" would inform those who do care what they can slide with and what they should just spend the money on the first time. I would find it useful. Just my. 02
  10. Uh no.... first off I know how you are with that thing lol Second if I had felt the boost build up on it the XT, Outback, motorcycle and probly the AR-15 would be sold to by a WRX or something.
  11. Is it a box or a cover? IIRC there is a black elbow cover that sits on top of an egr line that will make noise when the bracket gets old so I rip em off.
  12. I swear there is an open recall on that part. or some subframe part.
  13. Oh the joy of finding that out when I got it home. all 4 injectors were wired to fire at once, but only wired into 1 pin on the ecu. Dude said it ran to:confused:
  14. EA82T requires effort, proper cooling and such, if you don't plan on it don't buy it. fuel injection is nice, no adjustments, turn key and go.... untill something breaks. carb-less stuff to break, manual adjustments, old technology. ea82 timing belts are awsome, you can snap em all day long with no damage. hell snap the passenger one and make it home on 2 cylinders! my .02 DO NOT BY THAT CAR. look at the truck next to it. looks like a kid that likes to buy something beat the snot out of it and sell em. again just my .02 but i have bought enough vehicles to need a dealers liscense and have learned to pay attention to these small details. as far as my favorite sube? an XT, don't buy one. it will fullfill none of your requirements.
  15. my 96 OBW has 320k running strong. hell I'd take it on that trip right now. forester struts and springs will be a plus for a little bit of a lift. and definatly a full size spare.
  16. Oem subaru t stat is 190. I have a 185 oreillys in mine currently and it causes all sorts of problems. Not to mention the oem one actually looks to be of decent engineering and build. Not this flimsy pos that's in mine right now.
  17. turbone, I don't think an eg33 would be a proper swap at the moment as it definatly sounds like the OP has some stuff to learn about subarus before indulging in such a swap, but I think that would make them the..... 4th? in america. really need to swing by subaruxt.com because the XT differs from everything else such as the ecu being in the trunk, being mpfi, belts are different interior is different, no body panels swap with any other car, there many many differences between the 85-86 and 87.5-91 etc etc.there is a ton of very specific info on there. just keep in mind what is directed towards an XT and an XT6. that being said, run the ea82 for a while enjoy the nimble car and great milage. then make your decisions from there. EDIT: I will also add it is generaly suggested against the ea82t, with that being said i was recently looking for a turbo project as with proper engine management, a/f, good radiator, oil cooler, etc etc a reliable one *can* be built, just research WJM's post.
  18. Right you have an XT. They were all mpfi. And define find a new 5spd. Only an ea trans will bolt in. And I think you need an eg33 not an ea82t
  19. XT is a totally different car. The gl refers to the trim. Is it real pointy in the front with pop up headlights? If so I hope to see you over on subaruxt.com
  20. Prepare for a badgering of "this is a terrible motor" blah blah. But basically the turbo motor has lower compression to counter the boost and one of the heads had lines that came off it for the oil in the turbo. You can do it but there is alot of stuff you'd have to change. I would suggest running a quick search on the matter
  21. nothing like the MOST random thing to occur at 2 am while replacing a water pump to make you die from laughing.
  22. I don't know how to do multiple quotes so... JAWN- I must of misunderstood where it's leaking from, I thought you said the header flange is breaking, which is where my welder comment came from. 1-3-2-4- I used one of Harbour Freights welder, I believe the 90 amp 2 stage one, (high and low) and built an entire exhaust system for a Powerram I had, the only time I had burn through was on the collector flanges but they were cheap.
