  1. I just checked the valve clearance and this is what I got so far.. Drivers side Intake: all 0.20mm Drivers Exhaust: Starting from the rear of the motor 0.25 0.18 0.25 0.13 Passenger Side Intake: From the rear forward 0.18mm 0.20mm 0.20mm 0.20mm Passenger Exhaust from the rear forward 0.18mm 0.18mm 0.25mm 0.20mm
  2. im trying to check the intake and exhaust valves and the issue I'm running into is some of them are being pushed by the cam.. only thing I can think of is put the crank back on and turn it that way..
  3. I was asking about the torx because the one size I needed was missing but like I said the T28 fit well. And that cover plate is on pretty good at least the screws are.
  4. I'm still scred to pull the timing belt still.. it seems like the drivers side jumped one tooth? the crank is set to the mark and the passenger side is right but the drivers side seems to be off.. Having said that the cams looks like this when parked? It's not going to snap out of control when I remove the belt is it? It's a Subaru Belt so no telling how long it's been on.. all I have is when this car went in for service at like 66K lol.. driver's head
  5. replaced the rear main seal since it was leaking just enough to go down.. just my luck it would find it's way to the flywheel.
  6. I'm stuck because I can't figure out what size I need to screw the screws in for the rear plate.. I wonder if I can use a torx on it?
  7. clutch disc seems to be made by ap never heard of them before.
  8. haha yeah I was just looking at the amount of views this thread has like a few days ago
  9. LOL true about the no rust also air ratchet FTW! I did very little wrenching however I hit my knuckle getting that top AC bolt to break loose and when it did my wrench hit the High pressure line and it started to hiss so i snugged it a little and it stopped. it turned out to be very nice.. they were saying thunderstorms and all.. I did hear a little but only got like 2 min of drizzle and the sun was in and out.. Now tomorrow might not be so good but hopefully it will be sunny again
  10. Not sure if you seen the thread but axle? it seems too far forward and too wide to be an axle. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=124667&page=7
  11. Ok picture time! worked out great but the bolt was like finger tight really very little effort. Why so much grease?? I was told a new clutch was installed.. I've only put like 6k on the car since I got it. I can't tell if the rear seal is leaking a bit
  12. yeah man I really hate the USDM tails Having said that im home I finally got the engine out which was pretty simple lol.. I don't know what the hell exploded under the car but caked grease was ALL OVER the crossmember... it took me like 10 min of cleaning to get it clean... The good thing was I ran into no stuck bolts as far as the tranny to engine lol I was expecting bad.. last is the seller lied to me about replacing the clutch.. when I post the pictures you be the judge.. This is my first time pulling a motor and a manual at that but this clutch disc feels cheesy.. So I signed up for Amazon prime 1 month trial so i got my clutch kit coming in tomorrow next day air for only $3.99 lol I gotta make sure after the month is over to not renew it lol $79 is steep.
  13. craap I had to stop tonight because I did not know what size hex those screws are for the steel rear separator plate. I got as far as cutting open the sealant and seen that none of my allen wrenches fit. Now as far as that EGR line to the head I got the lower one out by using channel locks since my 17mm flare wrench was just rounding the nut.. I haven't done the top one yet.. I've been using liquid wrench which is meh.. my kroil wont get here until it's too late but at least I got two large cans. I have a lot of pictures to follow.
  14. wow thanks out of all of them I missed the bracket for the main harness.. as soon as I took it out the motor split lol...
  15. how many bolts should I be looking for on the bellhousing? so far I just see the two lowers and the starter area.
  16. hmm learn something new each day.. ok back to wrenching
  17. maybe the impreza model has that bolt and I don't? Here is what im talking about Where it says lower trans bolt you see it has two in that area I don't I just have the bolt and speaking of that someone was smart to put never seize on it but the passenger side bolt is missing/ http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t63237-diy-engine-removal.html
  18. I'm doing the drivers side bolt for the tranny.. but unless I'm in the wrong spot I just see the nut and not the bolt & nut which the bolt would be above the nut? Unless Subaru changed something which I don't think they did.. but the whole underside of the car is covered in oil/tranny oil and whatever the hell was leaking from the motor.
  19. Starting the project now.. one question do I really need to drop the header? I ask because the bolts to the first cat are solid.. I'd have to cut them off.. Having said that I got to the motor mount bolts with no problem..
  20. I got as far as mounting some SSC P7 LED's for the reverse lights but I blew the driver which was also like $40 I plan on running something brighter then 900 lm. But with it being so close to being fall I might not worry about the taillights till early next year.
  21. hah I was in the works of custom LED turn signals.. I'm hoping that guy in NY that had the JDM tails can still get me a good price since I was so close i did not have to pay the huge shipping.. they did come in a rather large size box about 20 some lbs. the funny thing was it was a pain to get the old stuff out.. I remember snapping the center garnish in half trying to break the seal. Only thing left over is the drivers side taillight which I still have in my living room today.
