  1. If you want, Ill give you my cell number, you can send me pics, Ill forward them to your email.
  2. I belief the wiring is different and would take some modification because the Turbo is an MPFI while yours is SPFI. Why not just put his transmission in your car? The GL-10 does have a digital dash, probably a sunroof, "nicer" seats, probably rear discs etc. But you will encounter sunroof leaks, digital doesnt always mean better... If it were my situation, Id pick up that GL-10 and swap everything except the EA82T engine into mine. Id put rear discs on mine, put the transmission in mine, pull my engine, reseal it to give it more life, and pretty much use the GL-10 as a parts car, or even part it out, try and lower the cost of my "project" swap. Just my .02
  3. MilesFox I believe said that it was the same. I would think it was the same via that thread. GeneralDisorder said the EA81 and EA82 wheel splines are completely different. Didnt say that certain years of the EA82 wheel wouldnt fit other EA82s, so I believe the "7302" (which from said thread seems to be very difficult to find) it should fit. Is that whole steering column from an EA82 or does it look modified-to-fit sorta deal?
  4. +1 its in my 86 GL sedan. Ill swap mine out someday, I dont like it.
  5. Luckily I have a sedan But I think Ill leave mine like it is... if it rusts, Ill repair it and learn my lesson.
  6. How bad does this happen in West coast cars? because mine is under my body still.... doesnt come out close to my bumper.
  7. Very good idea! Cant wait to see progress!
  8. Sounds like a great plan cant wait to see more pics.... need... more pics... MOAR! How old is your son? Seems like learning to rebuild an engine would be a great learning experience!
  9. +1 for $400.... Thats an incredible deal. What're your plans for it?
  10. Agreed, that does sound pretty awesome! Im curious what mine will sound like with a FrankenMotor swap
  11. When you start it... do you double tap the gas, turn it over, let it rev up to 2k and let it climb for a bit? I let mine rev to 2600-3000rpms before I tap the gas to drop it back down. Mines a Weber 32/36 DGEV carburated EA82... Do you still have the stock hitachi on yours?
  12. Welcome aboard. Youll find a lot of information here, as well as friendly advice, ideas etc. Do you have pics available of your brat? if you are unsure about how to post them here, I can show you directions on how to do it, but everyone here loves brat. Again, welcome, I am Marshall aka 92_Rugby_Subie from the Portland Oregon area. Now that introduction is over... Ill let someone give you some advice on your brat. What kind of aftermarket light are you looking for? I dont believe theres anything aftermarket persay, but there is junkyards, members etc that have the stock taillights.
  13. Youre on the west coast... people drool over our rust free cars... if I were you, I would pass on it, find something with minimal rust, fix that up and make people jealous
  14. May look hot, but how does it sound? Heres what Spencer - OBK25XT installed on my GL. and heres how it sounds, not to its full capability yet, cant do that in the neighborhood lol, but its loud, and ignore my stupid voice, I shoulda just stayed quiet haha. Skip to :20 to ignore it haha
  15. a 2004 or 2005 forester xt would be great.. 4.444 gearing... They are fast. Start your platform on that... Then as Twitch was saying upgrade whatever you can and keep it stock looking, dont do anything stupid on the streets obviously, but on the track... whoop em. I plan to so much to my scoob, including an AWD swap (into basically a Loyale sedan) and then go with the 4.444 gearing and a frankenmotor swap, etc... and I think Ill keep it stock color... but it will have sti wheels, so that might give it away.
  16. unfortunately, as much as I like Crystal and Twitch, my current situation would not allow the trek, and if I did, it would very muchly not be worth it...
  17. Haha I wish I was closer, Id go crawl around but thats quite the trek.
  18. turns out hes also have brand new axles put into this differential at the same time?
  19. Thanks I will grab some ultra gray RTV today then I have no clue where he is going. They might be servicing it, the cost of redline could have been in there as well, he might be having other stuff done, he just told me it was way cheaper to buy a differential that didnt need sealing then to pull his out and reseal it.
  20. so i should use brake cleaner in there? or what should I do...?
  21. There does appear to be some dust in the differential, should I use brake cleaner or something on the inside and try to clean it up? Or just leave it because it shouldnt be enough to screw the diff up?
  22. Ill have to look up the torque specs for it obviously... I wish the guy was buying this for 10,000 haha Ive been drooling over this car for the past 4 hours... Little obsessive? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2149256
  23. Are you sure its going out? The wiring on the module could be messed up, but I have noticed this, and I cannot stress enough (after recent events) how dumb HIDs are. Love the light, hate the way they work. Does he have a cheap-o kit - HIDs on regular, Yellow on brights? My HIDs, my friends 97 Impreza and my buddies 95 Impreza ALL have this issue, where if the headlights are in the on position when the car is started, one goes out, and the lights must be flicked on and off a few times and the bulb will work again... I know these cars are 10-15 years older than his car, but its worth a shot...
  24. I have someone that wants this differential (finally) I told him it needed a new gasket because the cover had been removed and it was shot, and he said that his current differential had a leak and his mechanic said it was about 390 to remove the rear differential, replace seals and put back on, but it would be about 200 to remove the rear differential and put a new one on, so he was hoping this one was already sealed. I told him Id use some RTV and seal it up for him before he bought it... so I cleaned it up: My question.. How should I RTV it? Should I do the red path? Red and Blue path? You can save the picture above and paint on it (obviously not easy to just draw it lol)
