  1. Recently, my Legacy has stopped idling cold. Once fully warmed up, it is better (though still somewhat erratic, more than I would like)...but during cold-mode operation, I have to keep on the throttle or it will just die. Suggestions on a course of action? I'm pretty lost on these fuel-injected cars...makes me want to go back to an EA81 or EA82.
  2. Timing belt covers are unnecessary. I put mine in the circular file.

  4. I just made the transition from 85-9? GL/Loyales to the Legacy. The difference is night and day.

  6. Not particularly well. EA82s (as in your '87 GL) are VERY easy to build a lift for...

    Using a York is the easiest and most reliable way to do this. Also, the old giant Chrysler units will outperform a York, but they are getting hard to find and are more difficult to convert. I've done a few York conversions on vehicles over the years.

  10. So, you didn't do your homework when you bought a used car...and suddenly the car is a lemon? I think not. Let this be a lesson in the used car market.
  11. I got a similar car (less rust, more damage on the hood/driver's fender) for free...in my area, the car in OP's pictures is worth $1000 on the high side.
  12. Success! Been waiting since USMB went down to give an after-action report! Timing belt action with off without a hitch...once I knew how do actually do it. (damn those arrows!) Headgasket sealed up fine...that has to be the most bizarre headbolt-torquing procedure I've ever seen..., but the Legacy runs great and I rather enjoy it! I now officially own a fuel injected car (after 15+ years and 100+ vehicles); this is the first one. Ever. Next project will be lifting it.
