I have a 97 OBW. I installed the Scorpion springs and a set of KYB GR-2 struts. It gave about an inch & a half to two inches of lift. It doesn't seem to have put too severe an angle on the CV joints, and I haven't had any issues at all since I did it almost three years ago. My struts needed replacing at the time, but the stock ones will work. Good luck.

I've got a 97 OBW and I've had the Goodyears for almost a year & a half. I haven't noticed any excessive road noise, even on a road trip to eastern Oklahoma last summer. They've worked well on dry, wet & snowy pavement. Much better than the OEM Michelins. I've had them on some pretty bad mud & snow covered trails and still had no problems. IMHO I think they will work anywhere that a car of this type is supposed to be run, and even in some places it isn't. I have the 215-70-15's on right now. They don't have a lot of clearance on the rear struts, but they're not rubbing so that's O.K. I'll be putting the 215-60-16's on in the spring once I get my new (used) rims painted. Hope this helps. Have fun.

I have over 40K on my Scorpion Springs with KYB GR-2's. I haven't had any issues with the struts wearing out yet. I really think the ride is better and the handling was much improved. The extra inch & a half of clearance didn't hurt either.I have over 40K on my Scorpion Springs with KYB GR-2's. I haven't had any issues with the struts wearing out yet. I was just at my dealers today for the same symptoms. The service manager told me that it is a solenoid that controls the center differential going bad that causes these problems. They recommend rebuilding the whole assembly at this time due to there being more parts that are worn by the time the solenoid fails. I guess after 145K I can live with putting a little$$$ into keeping it running. He also said putting in the FWD fuse will prevent the binding and stop any further wear. You just have to live with the idiot light until everythings fixed.

Do the GR-2s give you more down travel, or are they the same as stock? The GR-2's are supposed to be the "Stock" replacements, so I would guess they're the same length and would give up a little on the extension. I have not had any problems at all with handling and even on trails that probably are a bit more than the Outback should be asked to handle, I've never wound up with one or more tires in the air. Hope it works as well for you.

I have an 03 Baja I want to lift a couple inches. Has anyone used the suspension lift springs from Scorpion? How did they work out? Any problems? What is your feedback on them. Also, are there any other ways to go other than Scorpion? Thanks, Perry  I used the Scorpion springs on my 97 OBW. They give about one and a half inches of lift. I think the handling is better, but I did upgrade the struts to KYB GR-2's at the same time. The ride didn't become to harsh, just felt tighter. Like a newer car maybe. So far I've probably put over 20K miles on it since with no issues that I've noticed. I ran 205-75-15 tires for one year, but I've gone to 215-70-15's for better on road handling. There's been no clearance issues with either size though. Good luck with your Baja. If you search this forum there's one or more folks who make other lifts for these cars.
