  1. I have a 1997 Lego Wagon and it looks like similar vintage impreza arms will work. Looking for some adjustability. Anyone know for sure?
  2. Added ground clearance = lifted. Many lifts on other off roaders are "only" springs/shocks/struts. That doesn't make them any less lifted. It all depends on what your expectations of your vehicle are.
  3. I did not know the compressor would not work without enough pressure. Bought a can of the sealant/conditioner and a can of freon and charged the system. It's been blowing icy air for the last two weeks now. Less than $50 and about ten minutes beats the heck out of the hundreds to replace major components that always seem to be the problem at the shop. Thanks to all for the info here, always learning something new to keep the Roo on the road.
  4. 1997 Legacy Outback 210K miles and still running hard. 2" Scorpion spring lift, KYB GR-2 struts, Whiteline Swaybar End Links. 215-65-16 Goodyear Assurance Triple Treads or 205-75-15 AT's. Borla Header, Stromung performance single cat pipe, stock cat-back. Home made cold air intake. It handles much better than stock. The ride is a little stiffer, but not uncomfortably so. I lost maybe 1 - 1.5 MPG, still get 19-20 city and 26-28 highway. I have another 97 OBW (199K) that is bone stock and it just seems much tamer by comparison.
  5. They were a little louder than the Michelin XW-4's that were OEM, but not as loud as the AT's that I use for really getting dirty. I've never had any passengers comment on them stereo or no, so I guess they can't be too bad.
  6. I'm running the Goodyear Assurance Triple-Treads. They've performed outstanding in every road/weather condition I've thrown at them. I haven't noticed better mileage, but the only time I noticed decreased mileage was when I let the pressures get out of spec. They even have quite a bit of mud time as well. They've gotten me around in anything you could want to drive this kind of car in and then some.
  7. I've got a '97 Legacy OBW. I put on the Borla headers and the Stromung single cat pipe. I've got the Stromung center pipe on order, and then I need to decide what to do about a muffler. I've had the headers and cat pipe for about 5 years and haven't had any prroblems. Nice sound and a little bit more top end without a loss at the bottom.
  8. Mainly looking for the bolt-on convenience. There's not that big a price difference between the stock & SPT mufflers, if they'll both fit.
  9. Scott, what kind of lift are we talking about? I'd be interested in something that doesn't put too much more strain on my half-shafts.
  10. It's a 97 Legacy OBW that I have and the only SPT muffler listed is for Legacy GT Wagons. I have a pretty big opening (stock) in my bumper cover.
  11. Is there a difference in fit between a muffler made for a Legacy GT Wagon and a Legacy Outback Wagon? I need to replace my muffler and there's not many around for the OBW. Thanks in advance.
  12. I went with the Scorpion springs and KYB GR-2 struts for lift. I'm running 215-65-16's right now which are pretty close to what you're talking about. I've got a 97 OBW as well.
  13. :cool:Got the nuts from Summit Racing and a new set of Goodyear Assurance Triple-Treads. I think it came out good.
  14. I'm looking to get a new set of lug nuts for my 97 OBW. I read in here somewhere that Sube's take a 30 degree seat, but all the aftermarket ones I can find are 60 degrees. Did I read wrong, or will I need a set of Subaru lugs? I'm looking for black ones to not show up so much against dark gray rims. Thanks for any info.
  15. The other day as I was running errands, I was sitting at a light when a newer Outback Wagon pulled up beside me. I like the new style so as I looked it over I noticed a Hybrid badge on the right front quarter panel, just in front of the door seam. Did someone just stick a badge on their car to deflect the haters, or is there something Subaru isn't telling us?
  16. Before and after. Took me and my son 4 1/2 hours. The 3/4 ton Chevy PU that hit me is out with a trashed hub. 180K and still going strong.
  17. I used one of these on my '97 OBW. With the Borla headers and stock cat-back. Sounds good and seems to have a little more zip. Got them here; http://www.boxer4racing.com/.
  18. This question is for those of you running the Allied Armament or MudRat style tube bumpers. Did you have any issues with the air-bag sensors when installing the new bumper? I'm hoping to get one made but didn't know if there were issues with the sensors. Thanks for any info.
  19. Wasn't going to throw in my two cents worth until I read that "the worst that could happen did happen". Check this out and be thankful you're around to get all the lectures. http://www.wreckedexotics.com/newphotos/bad/bad746.shtml http://www.wreckedexotics.com/newphotos/bad/bad747.shtml
  20. Did you have to use the pod & faceplate that they say must be purchased seperately? Or is that just for the above dash mount? Thx.
