  1. Use of Dielectric grease (small amount) on the inside of the rubber (where it contacts the ceramic part of spark plug) helps too. My List of OEM Only Parts: Thermostat Spark Plug Wires Front O2 Sensor Valve Cover Gaskets Head Gaskets YMMV
  2. Make sure you are checking the fluid level in the radiator (rad cap off) with the car engine cold. DO NOT REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP WITH THE ENGINE HOT!! YOU CAN SCALD YOURSELF!!! Some just check the overflow tank. What you are describing is a certain sign of low coolant level in the radiator.
  3. Rough idle can be plugs/wires. Oil can leak from the valve covers and soak the wires. Might just try new plugs and OEM wires as well as a fuel filter and check for vacuum leaks. Dealer may try to sell you a fuel injection system clean (pure profit maker for the dealer). Try the simple stuff first.
  4. Took a look at my 99 OBW 2.5L 4EAT and found both a MAP (now that I know what it looks like!) and a MAF.
  5. I thought the OBD II codes were 1996 and up? Q. Where is the map sensor on 1995 subaru legacy l wagon? A. The Map sensor, (Subaru simply calls it a "pressure sensor") is located on the passenger side on the strut tower facing the Air cleaner.(US cars). The part itself has a 3 wire connector, and a single vacuum hose coming out of it. The part is about 1 1/2 inches wide and utilizes 2 mounting bolt holes. Take note that only "one" of these holes is used for mounting. No picture though! Here is a photo of the sensor:
  6. I had a back knock sensor on my 99 OBW CEL was coming on and off. When it stayed on I checked the code and it was the Knock Sensor code (P0325?). The gas mileage had dropped to less than 150 mi per 1/2 tank. Changed knock sensor and went up to 200 mi per 1/2 tank (on guage). Winter mileage is less too. Try the knock sensor and make sure you don't have any dragging brakes too. Good Luck
  7. PS Leak could be the O-Ring on the reservoir above the pump. Cheap fix. I had a PS rack leak and after 1 bottle of Lucas ATF "Magic Fluid" it no longer leaks.
  8. Hi, I too live near Cincy and was wondering if you local mechanic is looking for other customers. If he is interested PM me his name/number/or email. Its hard to find independent Subie shops around here ( I haven't found one yet).

    Thanks!
