Anyone near Boone, NC or been there?
the goat replied to garner's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Boone is a great town. I recruit alot of my summer staff from Appalachian State University. Mountain biking, skiing, hiking and camping any time you want. What could be better. -

mentis, i take my soob to a guy here in wake forest who specializes in imports. he has done a few things with my soob and he is honest (very important) and doesn't fix more than he needs to. let me know and i will track down his number. -
WJM, Congrats on the job! Did you make it to the autocross in Four Oaks on Sat.? I didn't make it because I had some staffing issues at work I had to cover. I was really looking forward to it as a new experience. Oh well maybe next time.

North Carolina Autocross...

Camoman, I am going to look at an 88 gl this week, probably fri. or sat., that is in Durham. It is a wagon but its 2wd. Guy is asking $600 so I'm thinking he will go lower to get some money for Christmas. Did the wagon for $900 have any rust on it? -

I am just going to watch and I hope it will be a fun day. I believe WJM is going to be racing. Hope to see some soobs out there.

Rally Cross on Dec. 4th, Eastern NC
the goat replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Never seen an event like this before. What should I expect? Is like tailgating where I just pull my car up close and hang out and watch the action or do I have to park somewhere and walk to where the action is? Thanks. -

That sounds cool. I will be in attendance, but I will not be participating. Look forward to meeting some people from the board. -
hi, my names tony, im a welder addict
the goat replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I understand completely. My dad was a welder for 35 years (recently retired) and he seemed to weld everything. He made and still makes brush guards, bumpers, ladder racks, etc. I am not addicted like he is, but I have picked up the skill and use it occasionally. -
Not my rear end, but my 90 loyale 4wd. I hear a loud clicking sound when I am driving slowly and this is weird, but I only seem to hear it when I am turning to the right. Any idea what it might be? Thanks.

This will sound horribly ignorant, but I don't know. I used what came with the lights. What does it do?

I have read of people cutting out part of the air box and I was looking at mine today and was wondering if anyone had pictures of what they had done to get more air flow.
-
I added a set of fog lights to the loyale this afternoon. $20.00 worth of lights and 1 hour of time was all it took. I posted new pictures of the car in the gallery if anyone is interested. Definitely not a major change, but I was glad to get them on there. I was most pleased with my dremel work in installing the switch in one of the open slots on the dash.

i am getting the loyale a tune up today (90 loyale 4wd 221,000 miles 5-sp). i know i have seen people recommend different plugs, wires, etc. on the board but i can't seem to come up with what i'm looking for with a search. so, what should i get for everything i need for a tune up? thanks. i don't know if this car has ever had a tune up, i know it hasn't in the last 50,000 miles that i have owned it. i am hoping it will have an affect on the performance a little. what should i expect?

mentis - i'm in wake forest, nc (about 40 min. from you). glad to see you made it here safely. i think i was supposed to send an apartment guide to you way back but i lost your address after deleting your pm. sorry about that (i'm a little disorganized sometimes). i checked your website out - great art! -
Torxxx and Sweet82 you are now on my bad list! I figured I would get a few choice comments. Yes, one of my rear brake lights is out and I thought the government was after me.
-
I was just pulling in to work and when I pressed the break the "stop lamp" light on my dash came on. I had never noticed it before. What does it mean? Has it happened to anyone before? Should I put a piece of electrical tape over it so I don't notice it? Thanks for the help.

if we have a meet in north carolina i am there. i'm in raleigh, nc so no place in the state is too far.

I have a 90 loyale 4wd wagon (220,000 miles) and it leaks oil. I think it is coming from the rear seals. I assume it will cost several hundred dollars to fix (yes, I use a mechanic). My question is do the gaskets usually hold up pretty well after replacing them? Should I expect no oil leak? Thanks for any input.

How are you guys recovering from the hurricanes that came through? Just wanted to make sure that everyone is okay out that way. Central NC didn't get that bad of a hit, but i know you guys had some major flooding. Good luck with the clean-up.
-
my 90 loyale leaks oil which drips down to the cat. converter and usually does a great deal of smoking (which can be quite humorous and embarrassing at a drive through window). other than that it is a great car that is very dependable.

i have never had an impreza so i cannot speak from that standpoint, but i do know that i love my 90 loyale. dependable, good gas mileage and plenty of space to carry cargo.
