what is needed to replace the air suspension system in a gl-10? what do you think it would cost if i took it to a mechanic?

looking at car that won't start
the goat replied to the goat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
thanks for the answers. the owner said he parked it because it had suspension problems that he didn't want to take care of. what kind of suspension would a 87 gl-10 have? different than the basics? -
hey guys, i am going to look at a subaru gl-10 that has been parked for over a year. it ran when the guy parked it but now it won't start. any thoughts on what it might need to get it started? thanks.

i know i have seen them on here before but i cannot find pictures of intake exhaust that people have managed to fit on there ea82's. i was looking at a k&n filter when i saw there intakes. they don't make them to fit my loyale but i know someone has fabricated one on here. any help would be appreciated.

i plan to do mainly street driving, but i might do the occassional trip down some old fire roads but nothing hard core off road. thanks for the input so far.

i am getting down to the final decision on the pug wheel purchase. if price is not an issue which do you recommend steel or alloy? why? also, if i can choose between the 14 or 15" which should i get? i would like a little more beefier look and that is the reason for the wheel purchase. thanks for the input.
-
i have found a local place that specializes in pugs and i was checking on purchasing some wheels. they have quoted me $65 ea. for the alloys and $35 ea for steels. is this good or outrageously over-priced? thanks for the input.

i have a 90 loyale 5sp 4wd and i get 30 mpg.

i know, i know. not another wheel question. i am going to be purchasing some pug wheels for a 90 loyale and i was checking old post and several mentioned something about the lug problems. will the lugs off of my soob not fit with the pug wheels? if i get the pug lugs will they fit the soob? also, one post said something about the 504 wheels not fitting but the wheels off a 505 would. any additional information would be helpful. i will continue to search old post for other clues. thanks in advance.

Roof Racks: The who, what, and why
the goat replied to SubaSkeet's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you will probably hate this but i found a complete thule roof rack system (2 bike holder trays and front wheel holders) at a flea market. i realized quickly the seller had no idea what he had so i offered him $10.00 for the whole thing and he took it. that was the greatest shopping day of my life. saved well over $350.00. what is my point? you never know what you might find at the local flea market. -
okay guys i think i am going to actually try something mechanical on my own. i have searched the message board for all the information on r12 to r134 ac change and i have convinced myself that i should attempt this. my major problem with car repair is a lack of confidence and the idea of "i got it apart and i can't get it back together" syndrome. wish me luck and any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated. i will keep you posted.

i was at atlantic beach this past week and drove right through (or by) the croatan national forest. i wish i would have known there were some places to drive and i would have hit it. oh, well next time i'm "down east" i will make a ride through. -
the belt is on and it spins.

i have had my 90 loyale for 3 years now and the ac has never worked (not normally a problem) but now that i am a "ymca executive" i sometimes have to wear dress clothes to events when it is hot. so, to avoid sweating i was going to check on getting the ac fixed. how do i know if it needs coolant or if the compressor is bad. thanks for the help.

has anyone ever had aftermarket sunroof put in their car? do it yourself or professionally installed? did it leak? cost?
-
i keep up with the message board often and i check autotrader.com on a daily basis for soobs and i am amazed at how much cheaper (usually) they are on the west coast. it also seems they are in greater quantity and better condition. so i look at worse conditioned, fewer choices and more expensive soobs on the east coast. do i have to move to the great northwest to get my fill of subarus? looks like i will eventually have to buy a one way ticket out west and drive a car cross country to get a decent deal.

don't know if this is the place for this but a friend of mine sent me pictures from the hampton, va. phish concert and one of the vendors was selling the subaru star emblem t-shirts. i don't know if they said anything on them it wasn't a clear picture. anybody been to a phish concert lately and see these shirts? just wondering. i was going to put this in off topic but i didn't think anyone would see it.

hey guys (purely gender neutral term), i have a 90 loyale wagon 4wd with 216,000 miles and it is the greatest car i have ever owned. the problem is that i have an oil leak. first, i am by no means mechanically enclined so i took the soob to a local mech. (they do work for the vehicles at the camp i work at). they said i had several leaks and replaced the valve cover gasket, crank seal, oil pan gasket and changed the timing belt. this cost me $500.00 and i still have an oil leak. it is not a large leak it is just annoying because it leaks down to my manifold cover and then smokes a great deal as it burns off. any other likely places the oil could be coming from? thanks for your help.
