Wheel Bearings or brakes?
so do you think it's the rear brakes as well, years of rust and other crap would probably do that, I like to disc brake conversion though. I sure hope thats what it is, just the brakes, I have also heard of the E-brake slightly sticking as well, but my indicator light isnt on at all, I have heard wheel bearings before but this almost sounds like a stuck brake shoe or somethin.:-\

Wheel Bearings or brakes?
I think I'll try the brakes first, it may just need new shoes(I hope) but if thats not it I will definately hit you up GD for the work, oh the previous owner replaced the CV axles about 20k ago.

Wheel Bearings or brakes?
So, My 92 Loyale has a whine coming from the back, it doesnt happen when I use the brakes, only during regular driving and acceleration, which led me to believe its the bearings, to me if it was the brakes they would constantly make the noise(kinda sounds like a big rig coming to a stop, if that helps), so I am going to replace the shoes in the rear, my question is I have never done wheel bearings before, so is it hard? I was told Les Schwabb can do it for a round $250 for all four I believe. Any input?, I'm also absolutely positive it's not the rear end, those probs are easy to spot.:-\

I may just be really stupid!
So..92 Loyale 3at, going to flush out the tranny, what gear oil weight do I use and tranny fluid. And what weight for the rear diff?

Bolt-in EA series Alternator upgrade. Nissan Maxima alt installation guide.
now... this upgrade on the ALT should in theory increase spark, which in turn could increase overall performance right? I know its not going to make it jump up to like say 120hp or nothing, maybe not even an increase in hp, but better ignition, fuel economy etc, now can it also hurt the system, since most of the electrical in the car (92 Loyale) was set up for 55a? please correct me if I am wrong I am by no means a Subaru guru. GD if it will be safe and help my overall performance(mainly lighting and gadgets) I will be please to have you make one up for my 92 Loyale!:-\

Fuel pump noise?
So, I'm fairly sure about this, my 92 loyale has a humming from the back, to me it sounds like the fuel pump, I have had built chevs in the past that have loud fuel pumps and it sounds alot like them! is this normal? it's not hesitating at all or any obvious fuel loss, should I replace it? Wanted: Pug 14" 4x140mm steelies or alloys with nuts.

92 Loyale ?
thats what I thought as well, might as well do all four while I'm at it, probably do the rear shoes as well.

tranny?
OK so I have to press the release button down to get it to switch gears! is this some kind of a relay or electrical thing I have to replace?
-
tranny?
So my 92 loyale is a bit hesitant to go into reverse, it is an AT, when I put into gear I have to give it some throttle then it engages(Even when its in 4WD), does the same thing sometimes when I put into drive, and it has a weird noise from under the car which I think may just be road noise due to the factory 13s..... any ideas?

Issue with '88 GL10 wagon
Check the vaccum lines, fuel filter, and maybe even the pump it self, do an entire system flush you just may have some bad crap inside.

92 loyale ea82 ignition coil?
the main reason for the electrical upgrades isnt really for power, I have four off road lights mounted on the rally bar in the front (2 6" Hella HID & 2 4" PIAA) mounted as well as 3 Hella 4" HID on the roof basket & 2 tiny back ups in the rear, so you now see why I want to regulate the power so I dont kill it while off road., however I did buy an Optima Yellow top! bad rump roast battery!!! I am not building this car to be abused just occasional off road, I backpack alot so I want it to get me where I need to be, I'm getting ready to buy some 14"pug wheels for it should bump it up an inch or so. This car has only 148,000 on it, rebuilt top end. Mint condition car.

92 loyale ea82 ignition coil?
New to the soobies, i was thinking about doing some electrical upgrades to the ea82, I found an Accel coil online for $45,denso plug wires, and some kind of really cool voltage regulator, also K&N air filter, and ummm I really am having a hard time deciding on a cat back system, I really dont see it giving a 1.8L much more power, but who knows, maybe magna-flow, I want to go cheap, and I have heard them on a 1.8L before and the sound isnt too bad either. Any ideas ?

92 Loyale ea82 odd knock
It was done by a mechanic who works on Soobies, the head gaskets went around 130,000k or so, so that's was the reason for the top half rebuild, nothing deeper than that was done, new head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, cam seals main seals, thermostat and housing, hoses, timing belts. I think I may try a little MMO in it first, it worked for my 97 ej22 at 120k it definately was a lot quieter after I used it for oh say 100k then did the oil change, it has 135k on it now and really is fairly quiet, I think there is probably just some gunk built up inside the lifters, I'm gonna try cleaning the entire system out and see if that helps it out. Then a fresh Purolator oil filter, Castrol Syntec Blend 10w30 and see if that does the trick, It did it for my 97 so maybe it may do it for the 92 ea82. I am really not too worried about it, I'm sure with the MMO it will help a little over time, plus just clean oil too. NEVER USE SEAFOAM!! BAD BAD BAD that stuff likes to eat seals and gaskets!!!! and rod bearings!!!!

92 Loyale ea82 odd knock
How much of a pain in the butt is it to replace the lifters?, and if I dont will the car see 250k? I mean it has been rebuilt already but I dont think the guy replaced the lifters.:-\
-
92 Loyale ea82 odd knock
Yeah I was told to replace them (found them for 18.95 each) but I was also told that even replacing them and the oil pump & seals it would just do it again within 10k, and its really nothing to worry about, besides I heard a 06 outback today clackin up a storm(bad maintenace probably) but its no biggie my 97 clacks now and then too.

92 Loyale ea82 odd knock
Just a odd knock for about 10 seconds or so, it hardly ever happens but it seems to do it on an incline at idle, strangest thing ever...but oh well other than that it runs a+++++++ 147,000 on the OD and it great shape, once I get it I'll post the pics.

92 Loyale ea82 odd knock
So. I'm buying a mint! I mean mint 92 Loyale 1.8L AT, This car only has 147,000 on it, the engine was rebuilt about 20k ago due to our friendly headgaskets. My question is, and the rebuild was done right as well, when the car is at idle it sometimes has a knock for about 20 sec or less then just magically disappears:-\ well after some reading on the web I have found that the EA82 has a noisy heat shield that will sometimes make a rattle sound. I know it's not the HLA's because for a 92 this thing is no louder than my 97 Leg 2.2. Any ideas? again this is probably the nicest looking Loyale in the state of oregon, and no, no plans to lift it, but...Pug wheels are coming soon, should give more handling and about 1" or so more clearance.
