  1. Well it was last week but, here it is,, Picked up a Christmas tree and loaded it on top. A 20 mile trip down the freeway, just from a tree farm.
  2. thanks for the tip on the trim, still looking for the DIY how to wire the 4 light setup. I haven't picked up any manual yet, so maybe I'll see if I can come up with something here is the next few days.
  3. if not - then basics - fuel? air? spark? Add one more to list- Compression Another good starting point is compression. Yep, pull all spark plugs and run a compressioin check to verify all cyclinder are in good working order. Alot of this sounds like a weak cyclinder. If one is down to 80 or less compression it will do strange things.. I fought one for about 5-6 weeks before I finally ran a compression test. There was my trouble. Plus it is alway nice to know all valves/rings/head gaskets are all good.
  4. I picked a set-up from P-A-P and was looking for some wiring diagram help. I grabbed the light buckets assys/marker lights/grill/lower trim plate/ light plugs. On my GL 2 light set up, there is some metal trim alone the lower edge of the lights. On the DL 4 light set up they had the lower trim panel. Didn't know if you had to cut out the metal trim to allow fit or not. The GL wagon is a D/D so down time is big deal. Trying to get everything figureed out so I can do the swap in a few hours. Can you just tie all the duel lights into the single light wiring or is there some other relay needed? Thanks for the advice.
  5. No luck on the search for a write up on doing a 2 headlight to a 4 headlight swap. I thought I have seen it here before, but for some reason can't get it to come up on search. Need some wiring tips, and trouble areas to look out for.
  6. Just wishing my 88 GL wagon had a rear wheel E-Brake, would come in handy for setting up some powerslide corners and general pitch'in it slideways. I was thinking if I did a rear disc brake conversion and used the front caliper with the e-brake hook up,, Has this been done?? Or is there any other ideas??
  7. Forgot, it should fire right off if everything else is correct. 8-12 sec. on the key crankin will take care of the fuel lines. So I think something else is messed up.
  8. I am fairly new here too, but have put on a few timing belts to get my 88 GL running. So when installing the new belts, did you put on one then rotate engine 180 degrees and then install the next one? By the looks of the diagram you provided it looks like you did. So is the distributor off 180? What I did to check is pull the #1 spark plug. Which is the forward passenger side. Then use a breaker bar or 1/2 ratchet, roll then engine over and feel for compression coming up on the open cylinder. Bring up the timing mark to TDC or 20 degrees timing mark and pull the distribtor cap. It should be pointing at the #1 cylinder on the cap, if it is pointing 180 off,, there ya go. Only other deal is if you set your valve clearance before starting, not sure what the cold setting should be. If the valves are too tight and not sealing,, no running.. Do you have a compression gagage you can check the cylinder compersion? Wow, did that mess you up or was there any help..
  9. If Darth Vator drove a car this would be it:grin:
  10. I really don't think AT tires are a goood off road tire, but hey if the price is right!! Ever hear of a tire grover?? You going to make your 2" lift?
  11. OH Still learning my years. Is that a carb or MPSI? and 5 speed D/R?
  12. Yes, everything looks like a nice fit. How about a little more build spec. Lifted? tire size, looked likes Maxx?? tires, tire size. Did you have to do a head gasket? Total bomb can count for paint or was it shot with a paint gun. Lookin Walker Ready for sure, What do most you use for tow points front and rear? Is the OME front hooks OK, and what about out back?
  13. Question on the bearing and seals. Are they dealer items only or can most parts stores get them. If you have OME part numbers for ea82 can you list them or PM.
  14. Sorry but that isn't a real Jeep ground clearance. That's a Mall Crawler. Here is a real Jeep ground clearance.
  15. IT'S WINTER AND THERE IS NO SNOW
  16. Thanks, I have passed on the EJ22. It ran and sounded solid, but very dirty from oil neglect. Plus I am having a hard time pulling a sweet running EA82 with only 70K on it and put in a 210K mileage EJ22. Once again thanks for the info, I think I will keep the search on for an OBD II. Off hand what year was the change, and what models were they found in.
  17. Hey, so here is what I got going in the planning stage. Great running EA18(70K) in a 89 GL Wagon. 5 Speed D/R. Would like to drop in an OB1 1992 EJ22 with (210K), I have heard it run and can pick up the complete car for $100. Wrecked front end. So looking at all the swap threads I haven't seen any reports of MPG. I have put on 12K over 6 months and get 25-30. I know everyone says the cars drive great with these swaps, and I would really like to have a little HP's to get around with. Is the torque band of the EJ22 make the cars feel that much better. If so you would think they should get some nice MGP. Can anyone give me some real live results. I run an OME size tire 206/16 x14 which is a 23.7" Dia. Would most likey stay with that tire. Thanks
  18. That is getting past the break in point, now you can start to rally the rat out the beast!!! Like to see it cleaned up and some interior shot
  19. I saved a set of 185/60R14 Toyo Observe g-02 studless snow tires from my daughters Honda. Thinking of putting them on my Soobie. Right now I am running some 205/60R14 Aspec AX-631 Snow tires with studs pulled. Just wanted to know if anyone has ran these.
  20. Hi, this is Bruce the guy in the Boeing parking lot with the Red GL Wagon. Just thought I would drop a line to you,, Sorry didn't even get your name. I live in Lynnwood, near Martha Lake and the WalMart. Going to be R&R ing a rear wheel bearing out of my son's WRX sometime this week. Wish me luck.. later Bruce

  21. Are the TSL Groved? That seems to help the lugs flex and bite better in the snow. Not sure on the pattern for the TSL's but the SX pattern can be found on alot of 4x4 sites.
  22. What about the oil, should that be changed after the flush run. Is there any effect on spark plugs also. thanks
  23. I have never used the Seafoam stuff, when you dump it into the engine do you use most of the can before it dies? Or will a can do 3 to 4 treatments?
  24. 205/60/14 snow tires, I will have to check on the brand. Picked them up off G/L with studs in them and pulled the studs. Rims are Dodge D50 mini truck rims painted black and redrilled. 140 bucks into the tires and rim combo.
