  1. I'm going to cut, sleeve and weld a steering extension for my 4" Brat lift but I'm wondering about a couple issues: 1. The lift will increase the angles on the u-joints. At what angle does binding/longevity become an issue? I know a lot of bigger lifts are running around. 2. More critically, Subaru appears to incorporate a phase shift into the steering joint for the lifted rigs, but I don't see any mention of doing that on steering extensions in the forums. Are people just ignoring phase velocity cancellation? Thanks, Mike

  3. Here are the rear coil-overs which might be of interest to anyone looking to switch to coilovers or change their spring rates. The combination of coil-over sleeves and collar clamp would accommodate a wide range for a lift. It took a bit of searching to find the right strut combination of top/bottom mount, body length, travel and damping rate. These are KYB 341054 struts (I had to trim the lower mount sleeve to fit into the XT6 trailing arm). Got them on sale for $17 each but one was black and the other silver so I had to paint. They give 6" of travel; I'll have it set for 3" up-travel and 3" down. I can spin the spring perch to adjust. The springs ( QA1 10" 150# spring rate) are mounted on Allstar coilover sleeves from Summit. I used collar clamps for the lower support. Here it is mounted on the Brat at full droop: Weird photo effects; the springs are really silver and the undercoating is black.
  4. Here's a pic of the XT6 seat rails modified as described by bratsrus1. The lower Brat rails are welded to the lower XT6 rails (with bits removed):
  5. Got the 15" rims sandblasted and painted:
  6. I'm not really excited about wheel spaced, but does anyone have a recommendation for those?
  7. In making my wheel/tire selection I considered the clearance for coilovers, wheel well and brakes but completely blew off the trailing arm. I have 7" wide (6" rim width, 54mm offset) 15" rims and was going to mount 225/75s but this well clearly rub the outer arm (xt6 suspension). It looks like it would need to be spaced out almost an inch just to get to zero clearance. What's my best option here? I'd really like to run these tires. Is there a good low offset rim choice?
  8. I think your EJ2EA oil sender adapter line (https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10152854502589199) might generate some interest among us. Is it available? Mike
  9. I'm doing coilovers in the rear so made up some strut mount brackets for Audi mounts.
  10. Three of the four axles had boot tears so I decided to rebuild them all.
  11. Cleaned up the engine bay, primed and painted (Quartz Blue J8U):
  12. I've finally gotten back at it and have a few things done. Installed the vibration dampers on the rear cross member: Final install with boot protection:
  13. Perhaps I will start a new thread. I posted here because the fittings to add a remote aftermarket sender to an EJ is pretty common, but I want a sender compatible with my Brat's gauge. I have the gallery plug and fittings to put the EA sender in a remote location except a fitting to fit the sender itself. I believe the OP is still active so I thought I'd give it a shot. When the forum migrated a lot of links went extinct.
  14. Hi, I'm doing an ej swap and would like to use the stock sender. The image links are extinct. What did you use to fit the sender? Thanks, Mike

  19. Your engine hoist wouldn't fit in my garage. Beautiful fish, I got to get me one of those. m
  20. I'm wondering if I can put an XT6 power window set-up in my 87 Brat specifically but any info welcome for future searchers. Thanks, Mike
  21. A little welding and painting and here's the finished product:
  22. Hmm... Uploaded to facebook and that seems to work. Here's the notched cross member:
