Last Thursday I picked up this transmission, it's out of a 84 Celica 2L: So I'm ready to purchase the adapter. I guess I will have to get the remote shifter solution at a later stage.

OK I've sold the engines/parts I needed to to get the money for the adapter. Is there any update on the remote shifter? I'm willing to go ahead and order the adapter now if the shifter solution can be available around May this year. So I can already start the trial fit and fabricating transmission mounts etc.

Me too It's going into my EA81 Wagon (change of plans). I expect to order one this or next month.

What is the length of the adapter (ie. the distance between engine bell housing and the beginning of the actual transmission case)?

And 4WD with rear plate LSD, disc brakes all round and rear anti-roll bar. -
I'm not sure yet if I'm going to need a remote shifter. I plan on moving the engine backwards as far as possible. Without lowering the engine in the chassis I can move it back 3 inches then the starter hits the firewall. I still have to figure out how much further I can go without repositioning the steering rack. I could also modify part of the firewall near the starter to create extra package space to move the engine even further back. I will be building a custom subframe for engine, transmission and front suspension (using EJ A-arms).

Looking good. I'm waiting to get paid for an EZ30R H6 engine I sold (getting the money beginning of December) then I will order myself one of these nice adapters as Christmas present I already confirmed a W57 transmission with shifter and front piece of the propeller shaft for 150 Euro (just under 200 bucks). Mileage is 223.000 km I guess that is no problem for a Toyota transmission (engine 21RC). Will be picking it up in the next few weeks.

Another seller has offered me a gearbox (he has a few) I think the two marked with an arrow are all aluminum W5X transmissions (he also has two steel ones but I don't want those). Is there a way to tell if it's a W55, W57 or W58?

Always use the intake manifold and parts from your original engine to prevent issues like this...

I've been offered a W57 Celica transmission locally... If I can acquire it for a good price I will be ordering one of your adapters

OK I guess I missed that, I must admit I skimmed through the pages mainly looking for pics of the development and final product. When I'm already considering redesigning the front and rear subframes/suspension maybe I should also look into 'upgrading' to an hydraulic clutch. Do you have the adapters in stock, I guess you're making them in batches rather than to order? I'm keeping an eye out for a W55/57/58 transmission here in Europe and once I get hold of one I will contact you again (we already exchanged emails yesterday).

What do you mean? I'm not suggesting I know it better or anything, I just need to gather information or a (readily available) solution for the cable clutch and the gear shifter before I want to order. Did I misinterpret your post or did you misinterpret mine?

I can't BELIEVE I missed this thread here... Found out about Bill's work on the Subiyota bellhousing via a few search engines then noted the link to here on his website... This has been a great read since I've been toying with the idea to make my 82 Hatch into a proper RWD drift machine. Before I had been thinking about modifying the Subaru EJ AWD transmission into RDW only but this solution is so much nicer. Less weight on the front axle, a proper engineered part to work with off the shelf parts, very nice. There are 2 'issues' I'd liked to see 'fixed' before I order though and those are: - cable clutch bracket mounting points (I can have it welded but cast would be much nicer) - define required shifter location (I intend to move the engine 3 inches to the rear for better weight distribution) Any ideas?

I just looked up the EA82 specs in the 87 FSM: Front springs: 23.5 N/mm (134 lb/in): all except 25.5 N/mm (146 lb/in): all Wagons 27.5 N/mm (157 lb/in): RX Turbo Front sway bars: 16 mm: DL/GL 18 mm: 4WD 19 mm: RX Turbo & air suspension Rear springs: 27.9 N/mm (159 lb/in): all except 31.4 N/mm (179 lb/in): all 3-door 34.3 N/mm (196 lb/in): all Wagons Rear sway bars: 16 mm: RX Turbo & air suspension These are EUDM specs I don't know if US springs are the same haven't compared part numbers yet.

The Brat has stiffer rear torsion bars than other 4WD EA81 cars according to the 83 FSM: Stationwagon incl. 4WD: 22 mm (0.870 in) Brat incl. 4WD: 22.5 mm (0.886 in) Others: 21.5 mm (0.846 in) The Brat 4WD has a 22 mm front swaybar all others have 20 mm. Front spring rates: Brat 4WD 27.5 N/mm (157 lb/in) Other 4WD: 25.5 N/mm (146 lb/in) All others: 23.5 N/mm (134 lb/in) I will be running 40 N/mm front springs on my EJ-swapped Wagon (56% increase) and am looking into fabricating a strut brace.

OJC wasn't my thing so not posting there anymore. I also have new old stock round head lamps on my wagon and have a used set for my hatch. Also have the pre-facelift chrome single rectangular setup for the hatch. I like the old stuff Wagon is coming along but struggling taking the last few hurdles (transmission mount for the EJ 5MT mainly). I'm now going to order a reinforced mount for a Nissan S14 transmission which would make it easy to make just one single bar at the end of the transmission mounted to the body. No difficult H-brace required.

This weekend I filled the rear diff, transmission, engine and cooling system with the required fluids and installed the intake stuff. Some more pictures: I still have to get a go at that transmission mount and I have to get a spacer made for my front struts. The spring hat is now in contact with the top mount so when I turn the steering wheel it grinds a bit. More to come...

Today I collected my SS tank and installed a 2WD Legacy tank and gauge unit (had to bend the arm for the gauge a bit to clear the tank wall): Remove the hand brake cable holder plate from a Legacy handbrake and welded it onto the EA81 handbrake: Had the SS exhaust pipe welded in place after I did the measuring and cutting over the weekend: Stil have to weld it up to the last bit of the front pipe (with the bracket to the gearbox) and install the O2-sensor bung. So some major hurdles have been taken. I hope to have the car mechanically 'ready' in 2-3 weeks now.

I just checked out CCR's website and they show a pic of an EG33 engine saying it is an EJ20 WRX engine. That alone makes me very, very suspicious.
