  1. I plan to make a support bracket bolted to existing mounting points on the EJ trans. Then I want to bolt the actual mounts to that bracket and the EA cross member. It will be a few weeks before I start the mockup.
  2. I plan to use the original EA81 crossmember but fabricate a new transmission mount or mounts to support the EJ trans. Or was that already tried and abandoned?
  3. I believe Bram got his digi tach to work on his XT with EJ20G swap.
  4. Nope, splines on the shaft are different between EA81 and EJ-series.
  5. I would be interested in a set of axle shafts aswell if I can fit EJ joints wheel side.
  6. Did they replace the weatherstrip? It won't stop leaking untel you use a new weather strip, FHI still makes them. Not cheap but at 75 bucks well worth the expense.
  7. Good news that the diameter of the mating surface of the Escort disty nearly matches the EJ head, I guess it is time to browse Ebay some more for old blue oval disty's! I already have a set of original EJ carb heads and the intake manifold with Hitachi carburettor so that disty would complete my setup.
  8. I have a (Japanese) magazine with an article about the FJ1600 and the twin-carb EA71 1600cc engine. Is that helpful?
  9. Is there a groove for an o-ring on the Escort disty to seal the back of the head and does it fit w/o mods to head or disty? If so I'm going to get one
  10. The block casting itself is good, as is the crank. The rest is crap, at least if you want more than 250 HP. The rods, pistons and heads need to be uprated.
  11. Yes they fit together. I'm not sure the 6MT will fit the Brat tranmission tunnel though.
  12. Not everything they list is available anymore but just ask Jamie what you need and she'll look for you, especially if you have a partnumber.
  13. Nice manifold! Are you planning to add a few coolant lines to heat the manifold to prevent the fuel condensating on the cold surface and causing the engine to run rough?
  14. Great looking car, good luck with the swap!
  15. If you're going to run that disty w/o ECU you will need a vacuum pot for advance and also centrifugal advance as engine rpm increases. What car did this disty come off? You might be able to pick one up if it was also available with a carbed engine.
  16. In Europe any EA71/EA81 car with a decent body is worth more than that. All the issues you posted are fixable w/o much cost. Swap the seats. Adjust the clutch. Clean the carb.
  17. I don't know about other brands but the only Subaru 3.900 R180 diffs are found on the JDM STI 6MT cars only. Try the auction site yahoo.co.jp.
  18. I'm building a EJ18 for my EJ swap. With light 1997-1998 pistons and lighter than stock rods, ported heads and roller rocker arms it should have reduced internal friction/losses and I hope it will make 125 hp with low fuel consumption.
  19. Sure. I have a few sets on the shelf which aren't going anywhere any time soon
  20. One No, a set . I have a few versions available: dished pistons, flat top pistons (with valve pockets) and domed pistons.
  21. Yes that is with all EA81 cars. I will order a new ignition lock with key, but I also need new locks for the doors and tail gate. My 1980/1 parts manual doesn't show complete lock sets, but my 1985 manual does, but only for the Brat and the Hatch, not for a wagon.
  22. I would like to order new locks for my EA81 wagon (doors and tail gate only), does anybody have the part number for the complete lock set? I have partnumbers for the components but I want to buy a complete set so I will only have 1 key for all the doors.... Thanks!
  23. I regularly tear down NA EJ20 SOHC engines... But in Europe so shipping would be more expensive than the cost of the pistons! I think you'd be looking at 75 - 100 US$ shipped.
