  1. It's not to bad.. Once you get the speedo out, the white holder gears pop up nicely. Still you have unprotected needles to be careful about. Thanks all.
  2. I guess, that's my last/only option. I am just wary of opening these. I broke 3 needles on my datsun's cluster by being careful.
  3. Still no takers, bummer. Guess my '97 will now have 78k less miles on it.
  4. I was under the general impression that the pressure plate had a lot to due with clutch chatter. Under that asummption, I would have the p-plate inspected/turned.
  5. I was trying to add a tach to my Brighton. With out noticing The one i bought off of ebay had red needles. Mine are white.
  6. Before cracking into my cluster I just got from ebay and breaking all the needles (i'm good at that), Is there an easy way to change the odometer reading? It's for a '97 leg. It feels like cheating to make it read the 27K from then new cluster.
  7. block/heads/pistons/cams/ sounds a little extensive to get the job done. might as well find a 2.5 turbo (sti motor) to drop in it My brighton wagon's dream every night.
  8. I've read something about special addatives for the v-lsds. is that (the lsd) oil changed with the tranny, is the castrol good for this? I'm sure all my gear oil needs to be changed.
  9. wow, I was just gonna ask this. As mine didnot come with the owner manual when i got it. Can i have both for auto and manual?
  10. yes, the WRX's have hood scoops that duct to the intercooler. The legacys are just a tack-on dectoration.
  11. you will get better gas milage. There is less drive train drag and loss if the power only has to go through one axl instead of two. The weight is very minimal.
  12. If it's an '88 it's not OBD2. make sure those Cali. idiots aren't tring to use the wrong test.
  13. i have a 97 brighton and was wondering if this tach would work. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=7963958766&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT it say 95-97, but it was my impression that they changed at 97, and i know the pictured speedometer reads higher than mine. Thanks
  14. you should be able to find someone that can weld either the crankshalf, or damper, regrind the keyway and locktite it together. A real shop would prol'by never do this thou.
  15. First, liquid gas does not burn. It's the vapors above it that burn. So sparks in the fuel pump should be relativaly safe as it should be only liquid in the pump. Normally the fuel level gauges are measuring a resistance of the senders, so as the cars get older corrosion builds up in creasing resistance making the gages read lower.
  16. It may be kinda ricy, but i think they're cute. Will the ob hoods fit my '97 legacy brighton ?
  17. I just got a 97 brighton, and was entertaining the idea of adding cc. Does anyone have a complete list or instructions? Thanks
  18. There does seem to be some confusion to the vlsds. It's easiest to think of them kinda like an auto tranny. It takes some power to get it to transfer power, like an auto tranny's stall. If the Vlsd is designed right you will not overpower it.
  19. Really, for both autos and manuals? That would be a sad way to disable an AWD system to save a few bucks.
  20. I was looking at getting an early 90's legacy wagon for winter/daily driver. I had some thoughts, if I could get your opinions. For a small trailer, say 500-1000lbs, would an auto be better than a manual? I do perfer manuals, but a trailer in the future would be nice for camping. Second, on the net there is a '94 turbo, auto, w/155k on it. What are the chances of it being worth $2.5k and lasting anouther 50k miles and several years? In general what should I look for? I'm pretty good with cars, but never a subie. They sound like good all purpose winter mobiles. Thanks
  21. In the papers here is a 91 loyale wagon. 121k,fwd,new clutch,5 spd, newer cv's,no rust? What are some comon things to look out for? Read about the timing belt, and something about weak heads? Anybody care to elaborate on that? It sounds like a good winter/hauler. Just want to make sure it's in good shape Thanks
  22. In general struts will affect the height of the car. How much I couldn't really say, sorry, I'm looking to buy my first subaru:)
