  1. I have had one for about two years now and have had zero problems with it. The linkage is on the other side and you have to rig the cable to make it work. The jetting is the same and I get about 28 mpg on the highway with a five speed in my 4x4 wagon. They also use the same adapter kit as the weber.
  2. When you say messed with it what did you do?
  3. Thats why I beat the Heck out of it to see what it would take. Just got back from Harrys u pull with a 53 k engine from a wagon that was rusty and had front end damage. I checked the plugs and found them not to have any moisture. I turned it over by hand and it has great compression. If anyone needs a low milage 3at 4x4 its there with easy pickens.
  4. On my way home last night on the highway my car shot up to the red, I knew the HG was going bad and there was so much traffic I couldn't pull over. The next thing I saw was steam bellowing out the exhaust. I said hell with it and kept driving and the steam stopped after about two miles. I was still 25 miles from home and I did 60 and 65 for most of it but still drove into my driveway and shut it off. You would think that would have killed it but it started back up and ran fine. These cars never fail to amaze me with how tough they are built.
  5. Those stock gages suck but thats about how mine was at when it worked. I have tried three different sending units and it still don't work. If I ground the wire the gage goes all the way up but when I plug it into the unit 0. Been like that for a year now. :-\
  6. Yes it can be done with the engine in the car but the drivers side is a little harder because of lack space. I sent a pm!
  7. If it smells kinda like burnt toast then most likely your tranny is!
  8. Yep Im only about 30 minutes north and have done it a few times. If this crappy weather ever quits I can help ya!
  9. Just The tick of death Or Tod if you search the board you will find a bunch of post on it. Its not really a tick of death thats just the name some old head suby person named it. It is your Hydraulic lifters not pumping up all the way or not getting enough oil pressure. There are a few causes and if you search You will find all of them. Drive it home but check your oil to.
  10. Hows your exhaust flow? If its restricted it may not breath right.
  11. Where does the top bracket bolt to? under your aircleaner somewhere?
  12. If you remove the A/C it takes like 10 pounds off your car. I also removed the A/C condenser and all the lines.
  13. Yes the Alt does bolt on the A/C bracket and if you cant find a non A/C car in the JY just make a bracket like in my pics. The only thing you need the A/C for ( if it dont work or you dont want it) is the belt adjustment for the alt and thats why I made that bracket.
  14. I got an engine out of a JY that they took the A/c off of and I have manual steering so I had to find a smaller belt and make a bracket like the one in my pics.yes that is a socket extension plugging my PCV until I get a new PCV. :-p
  15. When were you there? I was there yesterday 2/18/08 at about 10 am. If you look closer at that 3 door turbo it was only a Fwd carb car that someone stuck an AWD Turbo sticker on. My score from Harrys http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=85393
  16. Went to harrys in Hazleton for some tires and walked out with 4 nice tires on 4 very nice wagon wheels for $53 and when I take my crappy wagon wheels back I get $24 back Also found an 88 wagon with 53k on it that was smashed a little in the right front bumper and fender but the rest of the car was in great condition. Anyone need a low milage 53k engine in The NE? Also found 4 subaru NGK plugs brand new in a glove box and a new oem fuel filter. The best thing I walked out with was two front adjustable struts ( no not air) and two rear adjustable rear coilovers that looked very new and still had oem tags on them! . Im so happy I went today 8) I spent $140 for all of it! some pics of my score.
  17. You might have just knocked a wheel weight off.
  18. How about six lug wheels from a late 80s Dodge dakota, Will they work?
  19. I got lucky and found a 92 Ea82 with 87k on it from harrys for $50 on engine week. There is a ton of Ea82s at harrys u pull most with under 150k because they are rusty.
  20. The only way I could see doing it without a jacking it up would be to loosen the tranny and engine mounts and slide it over.
  21. Coil packs. It turned out to be the ECU was turning on the rev limiter to soon. Thanks for all the help
  22. That may be the problem. someone cut the old cat out and put an aftermarket back in with no lower O2 sensor. anyway to trick the ecu? Were you getting a bank1 sensor1 or sensor2. I get Both.
  23. These cars have chains not belts and it only has 109k on it. Cat does not rattle when hit. We did the code thing and thats how we came up with O2 and tps. Speedo works and cat is new. Do you know where the lower O2 sensor would be? How do you get it off limp mode and how do you reset the ECU. Thanks nipper you are very good help! Maybe MAP sensor?
