  1. I found replacement tires for the 390 metrics! still pricey but 100$ cheaper then U.S. replacements if you want to use what he calls kingpin remolds.85$ a tire plus 112$ shipping for up to 5 tires. If your like me and only use your 390s on the weekend off road the remolds are good for that anyway.I have ran over sharp rocks, cactus and other sharp objects with my 390 metrics and still havent riped or popped one yet. Allthou rare and hard to get these are good off road tires because of there original design for handling makes for a strong side wall. Hope this helps! Here is his web address. www.longstonetyres.com.htm
  2. Why didnt subaru ever make a Diesel?
  3. I have read alot of threads that say octane dosent change peformance or gas milage. My 1986 N/A ea82 gl wagon likes 89 octane over 87 i get 100 more miles a tank and my power pics up greatly when i use 89. I know this has been gone over abit but i would like to know if anyone else gets better power and milage out of higher octane. In my oppinion it depends on the car its self!
  4. check the o ring that goes to the waterpump from the radiator hose. my 86 gl did the same thing untill i replaced it.what i figured out was when car was running the pressure was enough to seal o ring but when it was off no pressure so it could leak !
  5. We have some nice washes you would love up north A.z. I still havent reached the end of Russels wash in Lake montezumma. Been up it three miles or so they say it goes 15 miles into camp verde! Allso one forest road that goes to flagstaff is just like being in a Roadrunner cartoon.
  6. Did you try fuel filter? my 86 gl wagon did the same thing untill i changed the fuel filter!!
  7. I have a 1986 gl wagon that has lived its life of 170.000 in sunny A.Z. and it is still running strong! I still get 25 mpg on highway. In my oppion best years where from 1980 untill 1995. Easy to fix IF something goes bad!
  8. Thanks for the info i will Try lighter oil next time i change !

  10. Even up here in north A.Z. it gets to be 100+. My ac quit last summer when it was 110! As long as your moving its not to bad. This year my radiator is going bad and i just cant afford to replace at this time. So i took my A.C condenser out and mounted it where spare goes hooked heater hoses up to it and put the ac fan on the bottom of condenser hooked to toggle switch and it keeps my car cooler then the radiator ever did!!!!!!
  11. What about here in Arizona where i have only seen 2 xt6s one on the road one in junkyard!on the shelf.
  12. Does anyone know what you would pay for a late 80s xt6 engine with 100.000 miles on it from junk yard?
  13. Living in Arizona i run 15 w 50 9 months out of the year because of the heat! Anything lighter then that and it turns thin to get good oil pressure!
  14. My 86 gl wagon only gets hot when i go north but not when i go south! Booooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. You came all the way from P.A. to get brat WOW thats one trip i wont make again. moved here from poconos 2 years ago love the rust free soobs! wish i knew you where coming i no a couple of great j/y here with good parts!
  16. Dont forget to hose all that seawater off with fresh. Salt will eat all wires and sensors! Really cool pics we dont have that problem in Arizona except a few creeks ive crossed.
  17. Ea81 are harder to find I got lucky to find the one i did. there are a few Ea82 at fenders in cottonwood but they dont know whats wrong with them. They think all have cracked heads but not sure. My soob is the same dust r mud ! gota luv it
  18. Hi i live in Lake montezuma A.Z.(30 miles south of flag) Flagstaff does have some parts but at hi price. They wanted 800 $ for EA82 engine with 150k on it.In cottonwood they have about 15 soobs there, you pull .place called fenders there in the yellow pages! They have three good engines.one is mid 80s EA81,early 90s 2.2 out of legacy. And for you real soob nuts a xt6 from late 80s!!! another place is called B&r in cottonwood. they have a couple of parts including some engine a kid built for drag and then rolled the car not sure exactly what it is. I got rebuilt Ea81 from 82 gl wagon for three hundred from them out of a rear end collision. They will work with you on price! P.s. Where do you find mud puddles in A.Z. LOL OH and the price for the engines in fenders is 375$ for any of the three. IM sure they would let someone have the EA81 for less then That
  19. Here in Arizona is dry as a popcorn fart and my soob dont like hot! I know i have to replace rad but dont have the bucks right now so i took my old air condenser from A/C and hooked it to my heater hoses and put it where spare goes then put electric fan from jy on it. Real good temp fix drop temp by allmost half!
  20. I need either longer wheel studs. Or maybe some deep lug nuts??? Any info on where i can get one or the other?
  21. I guess i will just run them untill they die. For 100$ i really didnt loose because they should last a year or so.Needed new 13s and they where 250$ for all 4. so now will look for 14 or 15 pugs untill these ware.
  22. Do you remember his email address?
  23. Watch when you buy pug wheels! I got some pug wheels with real nice michalin tires, BUT didnt do enough research so i got 190/65/390 wich they no longer make. Good thing i only paid 100$ for all 4 wheels and tires because when the tires go bad the wheels r junk because im not going to pay 285$ a tire!!! so becareful there. Anyone know where i can get longer wheel studs and better lugs?
