  1. Anyone know where I can get an axle shaft for a 1985 GL-10? The OEM are no longer made. Thanks!
  2. I had one that did the same thing. The oil lifters make the noise and it's a classic Subaru related sound. There was nothing I could do about it and I wasn't going to spend a bunch of money on new lifters, heads, ect. I just lived with it.
  3. Same thing happened to me although I have the spring and the rubber pieces but I can't figure out how to attach them to the fuel door. If I close the door, it locks and I can't open it unless I have another person.
  4. The engine, transmission, and major components are in great shape; car only has 51000 on it. My problem seems to be suspension related or something like that. When I accelerate, the car pulls left, when I decelerate, the car pulls right. There's also a vibration from the passenger front area that comes and goes; feels like tire is out of balance.
  5. I live in Stanwood (Snohomish County). I have a 1985 Turbo wagon that needs some repair. Anyone have any suggestions? I only know of the Skagit Subaru in Burlington but they charge around $100 per hour and I don't know the quality of their work. Thanks!
  6. Awesome! You mean the city of Snohomish not the county right? What's his experience on old soobs?
  7. Hi all I'm leaning towards taking my car in and getting my issues fixed as I just don't have the time right now to fix it myself. I checked out Greg's Japanese Auto but being that their hourly rate is $92 per hour, I thought I'd just take it to Skagit River Subaru in Burlington for $95 per hour. I live in north Snohomish County. Any thoughts on either place? Any better suggestions?
  8. Thanks for the crankcase info. I guess I shouldn't put to much stock into what Napa says about filters. What's the technical name for a U-joint, couldn't find it in my Chilton. If things were mismatched wouldn't the vibration occur all the time? My car is 100% stock and was babied by the previous owners. Thanks!
  9. So it's normal? I'm not using 4x4 on dry pavement. We have tons of snow right now and I've been using during these conditions. Also, everything is stock, no mods whatsoever. Weird, I've looked, my air cleaner housing has nothing inside it for a crankcase filter. Thanks!
  10. It's sounds like it's coming from the rear and not the transmission itself; only happens when 4x4 is engaged at freeway speeds. Are U joints difficult to replace?
  11. Hello all My soob has a loud rumbling/vibrating noise when my 4wd is engaged at freeway speed; the noise has a wave effect, get loud then gets quiet. Is this normal or indicative of a problem with my transmission? Last, I was at Napa getting filters for my car; I bought a crankcase ventilation filter. Problem is, I have no idea where this filter would be on my car. I've looked everywhere. On my old non-turboed soob it was inside the air filter housing. I have an 85 4wd Turbo Wagon Automatic 49k on it... Thanks!!!
  12. '85 Wagon 4x4 Turbo with a touch over 49k, previous owners didn't drive it much.
  13. Okay, this is just too funny. The simplest solution was the solution. I don't drive my car very often, I didn't even think about the battery draining. I gave it a jump, and it started up. What in the world was causing that sound in my video? Can a low battery do that?
  14. What did that noise sound like to you in my video? Remember, I literally drove my car a few days earlier.
  15. But the starter should still be trying to crank the engine regardless right? The starter won't crank.
  16. Pulled the plugs, the starter won't crank; just a series of rapid clicks.
  17. The weird thing is, this car has been running excellent. I just bought it about a month ago, the entire engine was rebuilt. The car only has 49k miles on it. I'm hoping it's the starter or the fuel pump or something...
  18. Hi all, I thought I could expedite my troubleshooting. Just returned from the garage to find that my Soob won't start. It's wants to turn over but has kind of a grinding noise. I think it's the starter but I'm not %100 sure. Here's what it sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fv4ADSEWCqg What do you all think? Thanks!
  19. Thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate it. So where's the ball joint located again?
  20. Its an '85 Turbo Wagon 4x4 automatic with 49k on it. I notice it the most while driving straight. When I accelerate, the care pulls left but once I take my foot off the gas it goes right. I have no idea what it causing it.
  21. Interesting, I've never heard of this device. Do I need one for my ea82 Turbo?
  22. I'm looking to keep my car stock with OEM parts. Searching the internet is proving very time consuming. You guys know the best place to buy OEM parts?
