  1. I had them paint a car for me once. My mistake I'll never have a car painted by them again. I used to paint for a living but hadn't painted for many years so I decided to have them do it rather than me. I prepared the car myself. Removed all chrome and etc. Sanded the car fixed all the dents and did all the body work. The car looked ok when I got it but in six months looked terrible. I did not use there cheapest paint either. The next car I painted myself and looked great and still does after more than a year. The paint they use is cheap and not worth putting on a car. I am like John I don't know how they stay in business. From now on I will do my own. I know most people do not have that option but don't waste hard earned money with them. They are cheaper but for a reason. cjt
  2. thanks for answers everybody. I'll take pictures of the tailight and I believe the passenger seat is ok I'll have to look. I have commitments tonight and tomorrow until 10:00 and have to be at work at 7:00 then next mornings so it will be a couple of days. cjt
  3. Caboobaroo if you want the body kit I will be selling it as soon as I find time to get it off. E-mail me cthurnau@comcast.net . cjt
  4. Hi Josh How did everything work on your transmission conversion? Hopefully you got all the parts that you needed. Those 5 speed turbos are hard to find in a junk yard for parts. The turbo has 143000 miles on it gets around 23 mpg. Which includes highway and in town but mostly in town driving. I haven't checked compression on it. I was thinking about doing that but just haven't done it yet. The car, after warming up, does run strong. It just cuts out at higher rpm's and that is only if you are on it all the way. cjt
  5. Thanks it is now working. I haven't been on this board much lately but still doing work on some subarus. Did i notice that shawn has moved to Colorado? cjt
  6. If I could save this car without putting in a ton of money and time I would do it. The car is very rusty needs quarters and the floor pan is probably rusted also. The interior needs to be completely redone new engine new paint everything. I have cars worth much more than this that I could spend my time on. I am not being negative to people wanting to save an RX just realistic about this car. cjt
  7. So that means that I can't even look what is on the market place for sale because I haven't posted on this board very much (been member since the old board many years ago). I have sold parts to Mcbrat, turbone, Legacy777 and other people on the old board. Since moving to this board I have not posted much. I am going to be trying to sell my 83 turbo wagon later this spring but I guess I can't do it here along with the 87 RX parts from a car that I am parting out. Thanks I have more than 10 posts now and still can't view marketplace cjt
  8. When I start my car in the morning it will smoke for 30 seconds and then clear up. It not using very much oil maybe a quart in 2500 - 3000 miles. Could this come from the turbo? Also when I get on it hard and it gets up to 5000 - 6000 rpm it will cut out before I shift to next gear. It has new plugs filter and wires on the car. I am not sure what boost it is producing but it runs strong until it cuts out. This is forcing me to shift at 5000 rpm. Also I am running premium fuel in the car but when I get on it still pings. I was thinking that an intercooler would solve this problem or do I have to but in octane booster? I am going to put in a WRX intercooler when I find the time. One other problem is when starting it when it is cold it idles very low 500 rpm rather than higher. Once warmed up it idles @ 700. Another problem I have is the other day my car was behind my wife's 93 LS and she wanted to go to the store. She wanted me to back out my car so I told her to just take mine. She now wants to trade cars because the turbo was so much fun to drive. By the way the car is a 94 turbo sedan with a 5 speed. cjt
  9. The dirvers seat is badly worn. The dirvers side tailight is in good condition. cjt
  10. It is a 3 door RX and not a sedan. It has a body kit on it and seeing that I already have one for my 3 door I will be selling it. It has a break on the drivers side piece. About 2 inches is broken out. The front spoiler has been hit on a curb. It has the rear spoiler and all the lower pieces. cjt
  11. I just purchased an RX with 5 speed dual range all wheel drive. I am going to put this transmission into my 3 door along with the LSD rear end. I haven't looked at it yet but what is involved in hooking up the differential lock. I will have a few RX parts for sell since I am parting this car out. Wife doesn't want another car around. I had to take it over to my mom's for awhile. cjt
  12. There was a guy that wrote into click and clack the tappet brothers. He added one more step to the oil change and thought he was doing a good job. The step was after draining the oil he would start the engine and run it for a while a get an extra cup of dirty oil out. The brothers told him to get rid of the car but that he could not honestly sell it without telling the buyer what he had done.
  13. This was for an EA81T engine from the Subaru dealer. 83 turbo wagon. The parts person when looking up the part and finding the price was totally shocked. I also checked more than one dealer. The part comes with the lines going to each injector so it looks like a spider. cjt
  14. I had one of mine when warmed up would quit and not start. It turned out to the fuel pressure regulator. This is not a cheap item from the dealer either over $700.00. I took one off of my other car before I got a used one to make sure it was the problem. Don't know it this is your problem but it is a possibility. I was lucky to find one in a wrecking yard for mine for $45. cjt
  15. Hey Shawn, You forgot about my 83 wagon with a 4 speed. I'll send you some pictures of it since I painted it. It looks real sharp. I have an extra ECU from an 84 EA81T that I would part with email me at cthurnau@megawest.com cjt
