  1. Yea..it's good to know. I figured the first step was just to seat the gasket, but when you have specific instructions to back off 180 twice you would think the bolts would be still snug, it just got me wondering if I missed a step. Glad there is some very helpful people around here.
  2. thank you, this is my first subaru. Everyone on this site has great. Thank you for the re assurance, I knew I followed it correctly. Thanks again, Geo
  3. Just a quick question, After torquing the heads to 22 and 51 the next step is to back off by 180 and then another 180. When I back off the head bolts by the first 180 the bolt is just about totally loose.. And the second 180 is totally loose finger tight. Is this normal? Again just seemed a little funny to me, Better to ask now before I drop it in. I followed everything exactly. Thanks, Geo
  4. If it's about attention to detail, I'm very confident I should have no issues. What was changed from the original gasket? I have thought that some of the people that had problems with the OE gaskets may have been instillation issues. I fell a little better now, I everyone keeps telling me I should of used other brand other than OE
  5. Seemed a little funny to me also, there has to be a reason..I just don't know what. Motor is all Back together, I took a lot if time making sure the surface was spotless wit a plastic razor and green scotch bright with wd40, had the heads machined just to clean up the surface and followed the. Torque spec to the T. Hopefully the oem gasket will hold up for atleast 60 k.
  6. Wow, thank you..you guys are quick.. Now I can continue. Sorry for the huge pictures.. Geo
  7. Hello everyone, putting my 00 legacy L 2.5 back together.. And new to the Subaru world... Is it normal to see this much of the block through the head gasket? I left the pictures large. This does not look normal to me. I'm going to stop till I hear from the experts. This is a oem Subaru gasket. Thanks for any help.
