After you stick the new injector in, pull the #14 fuse in the fusebox (under dash) and leave it out for 30+ minutes. Re-install it and let the vehicle sit for a good 6 hours. Then take it out for a drive, make sure you drive the vehicle over 40 miles an hours for at least a minute. This will have cleared all trouble codes in the TCU-ECU and re-tought both units. Glad I could help

When you get the new injector you will notice that it looks different than the one you pulled out. This is because it is an aftermarket injector but it fits and works just as good as OEM. I put over 3K on mine and it purrrrrs. (grease the O-ring with something that will not eat the rubber) when installing. Two screws and one wire harness hold it in. If the old one resists be carefull! Use a pair of pliars to gently twist the unit untill it is free.

under your dash (between you ECU and TCU there are 2 black conectors. With the vehicle off, conect them and then turn your vehicle to the "on" position but do not start the vehicle. The check engine will blink in sequence. Somewhere on this website are the 2nd gen trouble codes. There will be your answer.

When I reset the ECU-TCU in my 90 leggy it did some strange things. These websites will tell you how to reset it but they don't tell you that you have to let your car sit for a day without driving it so that the ECU will re-learn how to function properly. I started the car after resetting it and it wouldn't go faster than 5 miles an hour and just ran BAD. I let it sit because I was going to have it towed to the dealer but when I went out later that day to move it out of the driveway it was like a whole new car. I still has a small idle dance when I first crank it in the morning (second or 2) but besids that it runs great.

I am an ebayer so I could set it up on an auction with a buy-it-now and we could do it thru there if that will work for you. It is pretty secure that way. I will take a money order, cash or Personal check if want and then I will send you out the item. If you do not ebay then we will work something out. E-mail me if you wish to talk on a more personal level and swap contact info. Thanks, Greg I have a 90 non-turbo leggy. Works great. it is midnight at my house in FL but I am up late usually so I can set that auction up tonight if that will work for you.

As far as turning the 4WD system off goes. I installed a switch inline with the blade fuse under the hood, wich gives me the option to turn it on and off as I see fit from the cabin. I live in FL and really only need it on when I am making jacked up trucks look stupid and when it rains cats and dogs like it does on a daily basis here. You'll get my Subaru when you pry it from my cold dead hands..or have to use the jaws of life to get me out of it after I have been T-boned by a senior citizen in a Lincoln towncar.

My 2 Cents..... Trade my Subaru for a VW? Not highly likely! I had a VW once and man was that a bottomless money pit. I replaced every part but the block. That POS spent more time in the shop than in my driveway. I bought my 90 Legacy Wagon AWD from the salvation army for $700.00 cash about a year ago. I had never even heard of these cars untill I bought it. I LOVE MY SUBARU! I would rather have 2 foresters than one H2 Hummer. Granted my Roo needed CV's and a Fuel injector and now a seal or 2.....BIG F'ing deal!! I would love to see a 232K Domestic vehicle (besides my 88 Cherokee 248K) Good luck with your farfignugin. You willl be back!! Mark my words! Mark them well! (Take with a grain of salt) Please note: I would saw off my left nut for the new 05 turbo Legacy. Now thats devotion.

This is my second post to the board and it is more like a cry for help. If you notice from my first post, I am leaking some oil from behind the timing cover (black plastic shroud in front of engine) and I can not figure out how to get the darn thing off. I used a socket but all it does is move and make a clicking sound. Is it stripped or seized up? Whats it going to take to get that off? What belts and pulleys have to come off to access it as well? Will I need a puller or any specialty tools? Thanks in advance. Greg coloradosubarules@yahoo.com
